277,762. Stapleton, D. J., and Doyle, W. June 26, 1926. Gun cartridges. - A blank cartridge A for gas-operated machine guns is loaded with an explosive charge A<1> covered by a plug A<2> of cotton wool or other cellulose material impregnated with a waterproofing substance, such as a mixture of hard and soft paraffins, which is inserted above the cellulose plug and tamped in, the excess of waterproofing material remaining as a layer beyond the cellulose plug and sealing the joints between the lips a of tile case when this is finally crimped or otherwise, closed in. This cartridge may be used in a gun having a " gas-trap " as described in Specification 270,562, [Class 92 (ii), Ordnance &c.].
