Definitions
- the subject of the invention is a structure which can be easily moved from one point to another because it is of an opening and closing design and able to serve mainly but not exclusively as a covering structure similar to a frame.
- the structure of the invention can advantageously be used to cover short-term shelters such as tents for fairs or exhibitions, etc. and also temporary shelters to be erected very quickly in the event of natural or other disasters such as earthquakes, floods, etc.
- short-term shelters such as tents for fairs or exhibitions, etc.
- temporary shelters to be erected very quickly in the event of natural or other disasters such as earthquakes, floods, etc.
- Document EP-A 0 051 724 already discloses a transportable structure which in fact constitutes a complete hall comprising a rectangular platform at the center of which a telescopic mast is installed; at the top of this mast are firmly fixed twelve arms extending radially, also spaced in circumferential direction, and having different lengths; at the free end of each of these arms is articulated one end of a beam. It is possible to rotate these beams to put them each respectively in the extension of the arm with which it is articulated; the beams can then be used to hold the free edge of the circular edge of a covering sheet. In the opposite direction, it is also possible, by pivoting, to put the beams parallel to each other, in two groups directed from the center of the platform, one towards one end of this platform, the other in the opposite direction towards the other end of the platform.
- the platform can be constituted by the platform of a vehicle.
- the platform is inseparable from the rest of the structure so that it cannot be used to be deployed directly above the ground surface like the marquee of a circus for example.
- the structure in the folded state, has a total length which is equal to the diameter it has in the deployed state.
- the object of the invention is to provide a structure which essentially constitutes a roofing framework which can be deployed directly above the ground, without a central mast resting on the ground, the dimension of which in the direction of the length when folded is about half its diameter when extended.
- a structure according to the invention comprises a main pivot shaft in a vertical position during use; two first links, horizontal, are articulated by a first end part around this main pivot shaft to extend on two opposite sides of this shaft, each link having a central truss fixing zone and a second end part provided with a vertical axis of articulation; a succession of additional links follow each other from the first two links, being articulated two by two by a vertical secondary axis of articulation and each having a central area for fixing the truss; several trusses equal in number to that of the links extend respectively from each link in a vertical plane perpendicular to said link, each truss having a first end by which it is securely fixed to the median zone of a corresponding link and a second far end of this link; at least one frame extends in a vertical plane between the successive farms of each pair of two neighboring farms; this frame is articulated at its ends with the two trusses and it is itself articulated in the middle around a vertical folding axis;
- the succession of links ends with a terminal link whose second end or free end is provided with a support and fixing means, so that the two end links can be firmly fixed to each other when they have been brought close to each other following a general 360 ° pivoting movement of the links around the main pivot axis and a pivoting around secondary axes of articulation.
- a vertical central core in the position of use; this core is located in the center of the links when these are arranged along a closed contour, the two end links being fixed together; a supporting frame securely connects the central core to the main pivot shaft and a perimeter guide of configuration identical to that of said closed contour is supported by radial arms which extend from the central core; the links are applied by a lateral face against this guide when they are arranged along this same closed contour.
- the lower part of the central pivot shaft, or the lower part of the central core is designed to be able to engage with an upper end part of a lifting member such as a cylinder installed vertically on a transport vehicle.
- FIGS. 1 to 6 The following description will show several secondary characteristics of a structure according to the invention, the general design of which is illustrated in FIGS. 1 to 6.
- This design is that of an improved structure, as explained above, in which there is a central core 1 here constituted by a section of cylindrical tube having a geometric axis 2 which is also the general axis of the structure.
- This is generally designated by the general reference 3. It comprises twelve trusses 4, these trusses 4A to 4L extend radially around the general axis 2 over a circular extension of 360 ° when the structure is in progress. 'use, for example as the frame of a blanket.
- the latter is advantageously a cover (not shown) which covers the entire structure and which closes and opens with the latter as will be explained below.
- the structure in use is supported above the ground by posts located at the free ends of trusses 4A to 4L, or certain trusses; preferably, the structure is supported by a pair of folding legs 5, like that of FIG. 3, located respectively between two successive trusses, in four diametrically opposite places two by two, for example between trusses 4B, 4C; 4E, 4F, 4H, 41; 4K, 4L.
- a pair of folding legs 5 which essentially comprise two feet 5A, 5B joined by two cables 6A, 6B diagonally.
- a frame 7 ( Figure 3) located in a vertical plane, articulated by its opposite ends respectively with the two trusses between which it is located and also provided in its median plane, between its ends, of a vertical folding axis.
- each farm 4A to 4L is fixed to a link and these links are hinged together; they are not visible in Figures 1 to 6 but they will be described later in detail in relation to the other figures.
- Each link is used for the articulation of one end of a jack 8 (FIG. 4), the other end of which is hinged, directly or indirectly, with a folding frame 7 which corresponds to it between two neighboring farms 4.
- the trusses 7 are each about 9 m long, there is, at about half their length, an intermediate frame 9 which is mounted parallel to the frame 7 between the two trusses 4 already connected to their free ends by this frame 7.
- Each folding intermediate frame 9A to 9F and 9H to 9L is articulated in the middle with one end of a corresponding jack 8, 8A to 8F and 8H to 8L respectively; in addition, two oblique bars 10, 11 are articulated by their opposite ends each respectively on the one hand with the end of a corresponding jack 8, on the other hand with the central part of a corresponding half of the articulated frame 7 corresponding .
- Figures 2 and 4 also show a whale or light support profile 12 extending between each folding intermediate frame 9 and each folding frame 7.
- This light profile 12 is fixed by one end to the upper face of the folding intermediate frame 9 and it is guided in sliding in the direction of its length on the upper face of the folding frame 7. Its length is constant and it is not folding or telescopic, so that it becomes projecting relative to the folding frame 7 when the latter folds under the effect of the jack 8 as can be seen in FIG. 4.
- light support profiles 12, different or additional can be provided when it is deemed useful.
- FIG. 4 shows the approximation of two trusses 4 during the folding or closing of the structure when the frames 7 and the intermediate frames 9 bend in their middle towards the general axis 2 under the pulling effect of the jacks 8.
- Figures 7, 8 clearly show the links 13, hinged together like those of a chain, which each carry a farm 4A to 4L, and which are arranged along a closed outline, circular in this example, around the 'geometric axis 2 of the central core 1, when the structure is in the state of use as in Figures 1, 2.
- each link 13 comprises an upper plate 14, a lower plate 15, a spacer 16.
- the latter is preferably of square cross section, or it has at least one flat face 17 turned outwards when the structure is in the deployed or open state.
- the plates 14, 15 are parallel, horizontal in the position of use, spaced vertically by the spacer 16 by a distance equal to the height of a truss 4A to 4L.
- the flat face 17 is used for fixing one end of a farm.
- each spacer 16 is a terminal component of the farm with which it is secured.
- the invention does not impose the type of truss to be used, although the type of trellis is preferred in order to provide high flexural rigidity combined with a reduced weight.
- the spacer 16 is necessary to constitute the links 13 and it still preferably has a second face 18, opposite the face 17, situated in a plane substantially parallel to this face 17, and whose role will be explained later.
- the upper 14 and lower 15 plates of the links 13 are joined and articulated by means of axes 19 which pass through them and the heads 20A, 20B of which are contained in housings 21, 22 arranged in one plate out of two.
- the housings 22 which contain the lower heads 20B are blind housings closed downwards.
- the upper plates 14 are of two different kinds arranged successively alternately. There are upper plates 14A of width reduced to the width of the spacers 16 and upper plates 14B of increased width in the direction of the trusses beyond the spacers 16.
- the width extension of the upper plates 14B is large enough so that it can be provided in the additional width portion of the holes 21, 22 which are located on the bisector 23 which can be traced in the angle of two successive farms, as shown in Figure 7 only between farms 4B, 4C and 4C, 4D.
- These holes 21, 22 serve to articulate with the links 13 one of the ends of the folding and unfolding cylinders 8A to 8K (not shown in Figures 7, 8).
- the lower plates 15 have dimensions identical to each other and identical also to those of the upper plates 14A of reduced width.
- the upper plates 14B of increased width and the lower plates 15 which correspond to them are contained between the upper plates 14A and the lower plates 15 which correspond to the latter, as shown in FIG. 10.
- the links 13 are mounted, preferably in equal numbers, on either side of a main pivot shaft 24 which is vertical in the position of use.
- This main shaft 24 acts as an articulation axis for the first two links 13A, 13L which are articulated with it by a first end part, on two opposite sides of this shaft 24.
- the number of links and trusses need not be the same on both sides of the main shaft 24, although this is preferable for balancing reasons.
- the succession of links 13 ends on each side of the main shaft 24 with a terminal link 13F on one side, 13G on the other side which is different from the other links.
- these links 13F, 13G each have between their upper and lower plates a square profile 25.
- These profiles 25 have a main wing 26 disposed radially with respect to the geometric axis 2 and on the edge of the link so that these two wings 26 are applied back to back as shown in Figure 7 when all of the links follows a closed contour.
- the upper plate 14A of the end link 13G and the lower plates of the two end links 13F, 13G are modified, by an increase in their width near the angle section 25, to present a hole 27.
- the three holes 27 and the enlarged hole 22 of the upper plate 14B of the end link 13F are used for fixing profiles intended to be applied one against the other and to be fixed to each other in order to hold the structure to the deployed state with its terminal links brought into contact; these sections are shown diagrammatically at 28, 29 in FIG. 2.
- the main pivot shaft 24 can be used to lift and carry the structure to move it, as will explain it further.
- the geometric axis 2 constitutes both the general axis of the closed contour along which the links 13 are arranged during use and the general axis of the structure in the deployed state.
- the central core 1 When the central core 1 exists, it carries the main pivot shaft 24 by means of two oblique arms 30, 31 which are firmly fixed on the one hand to the external surface of the central core 1, on the other hand to the shaft main pivot 24 between the upper and lower plates of the links 13A and 13L articulated with this shaft 24.
- a ring 32 is fixed to the outer surface of the central core 1; it is reinforced by two radial bars 33 to hold concentrically with the central core 1 a perimeter guide 34 located on the closed contour along which the links 13 are placed during the use of the structure.
- This perimeter guide 34 is a sheet closed on itself in a cylinder in the present example, with a height equal to that of the links 13, concentric with the geometric axis 2. Its role is to facilitate the positioning of these links 13 along the closed contour serving as a support for the second face 18 of the spacers 16. In the case where this closed contour is square or rectangular, the perimeter guide 34 would be shaped accordingly.
- Figures 9 and 11 to 13 relate to the execution of certain parts of the structure for which it is possible to adapt many alternative embodiments.
- FIG. 9 shows a folding frame 7 which joins the free ends of two successive trusses 4 and which constitutes in the structure a sand beam. It is a lattice beam made in two halves 7 ', 7 "assembled in the manner of a hinge with a folding axis 35 in the middle of the entire beam. Its opposite ends are articulated around suitable axes using lugs 36 and 37 with the trusses 4. On each half 7 'and 7 "is provided, substantially in the middle, a lug 38 of articulation with a slash 10 or 11 connecting with a jack 8 of folding and unfolding.
- the frame 7G (FIG. 2) is not foldable but can be dismantled into two parts 7'G, 7 "G which come end to end and which are locked. to each other during use of the structure.
- each intermediate frame 9 comprises an assembly of the type with hinge 40 having an axis 41.
- hinge 40 To the elements of this hinge 40 is fixed on the side of the central axis 2 a first articulation part 42 with which is articulated one end of a jack 8 whose other end is articulated with a link 13.
- a second articulation piece 43 which is used for articulation, using a pin 44 and a socket with a spherical outer surface 45, an oblique bar 11 which comes from the 7 'half of the folding frame 7; the other oblique bar 10 which comes from the half 7 "of the same folding frame 7 is articulated in the same way, at a lower level, with the second articulation part 43.
- the jacks 8 allow the frames 7 and the intermediate frames 9 to be folded or unfolded and the trusses 4 to be brought together or apart, as seen in FIG. 4.
- the intermediate frame 9G (FIG. 2) is not foldable, but can be dismantled into two parts 9'G, 9 "G which come end to end and which are locked to each other during the use of the structure.
- Figures 12 and 13 show an example of mounting the pairs 5 of folding feet 5A, 5B.
- a lower beam of a farm, 4B for example is fixed to a vertical element 46 which carries on two opposite sides of the legs 47 allowing its articulation with a folding frame 7 via the legs 37 of the latter.
- This vertical element 46 extends below the folding frame 7 and, in this extended part, it is pierced with a hole 48 and provided with two pendent ears 49. These are developed inwards, in the direction of the geometric axis 2, and they have an articulation hole 50.
- Each folding foot, 5B for example, is provided at its top with two similar ears 51 which have an articulation hole corresponding to the hole 50 to receive an axis 52 The latter is therefore set back inwards relative to the folding frame 7, during use.
- a return spring 53 is attached on the one hand to the vertical element 46 at a point 54, on the other hand, to the folding foot 5B at a point 55.
- the arrangement is such that the spring 53 is on one side from the axis 52, inwards, when the foot 5B is placed horizontally (FIG. 13), and on the other side, outwards, when the foot 5B is placed vertically (FIG. 12 ). In both cases the spring 53 holds the foot 5B at the position which has been given to the latter.
- Additional holes 56, 57 are provided in the ears 49 and 51 so as to be in extension when the foot 5B is in the vertical position (FIG. 12), to receive pins for locking the foot in this position.
- the hole 48 is used for fixing the upper end of each cable, 6B for example, which extends diagonally between the feet 5A, 5B.
- a sheet curved in an arc of a circle 58 is fixed to the ears 51; it has the same geometric axis as the pivot axis 52 and closes the gap between the ears 49 and 51 when the foot 5B is in the horizontal position. Its role is to prevent the tarp which covers the structure, and which can descend to the ground, from being pinched between the ears 49 and 51 when the feet 5 are put in their vertical position.
- Figures 5 and 6 show in the folded state the structure that has just been described in the deployed state. From this latter state, when the structure is supported by the feet 5, a vehicle C is fitted in the center equipped with a lifting means S which is terminated by a pin B designed to be inserted inside the core central 1. The entire structure is raised above the ground, using the lifting means S, the feet 5 are unlocked and put in their horizontal position.
- the folding, moving and unfolding of the structure requires little staff and is carried out quickly.
