Definitions

  • the invention relates to a device for ball games with a baffle and with a transportable frame which holds a frame surrounding the baffle, on which the baffle is held with at least one flexible fastening element.
  • a device of the above-mentioned type in which the baffle consists of a net which is kept tightly stretched in the frame.
  • Such a device can be used, for example, for practicing tennis or squash strokes by a single player.
  • the known device has the disadvantage that the player has to play the baffle relatively steeply so that the ball he is playing is reflected at a reflection angle in which the player can still reach it for a next setback. The player can therefore only use the relatively limited area of the baffle, from which the ball is reflected at the desired angle, so that the player is required to be accurate, which he can not muster with repeated repetitions of punching exercises.
  • the ball struck by the player is reflected by the impact wall at such a speed at such a speed that the player cannot react so quickly and can switch from a striking position to a position from which he can take the reflected ball.
  • a baffle for tennis which consists of a plate bent in the horizontal and vertical directions.
  • the known baffle is a rigid structure composed of blocks or in one piece, e.g. made of concrete. This also has the disadvantage that a ball is thrown back the harder the harder it is hit.
  • the known baffle is disadvantageously a fixed device. It cannot be transported and, if necessary, cannot be set up at any location and dismantled after training.
  • the invention has for its object to improve a portable device of the type mentioned in terms of its reflection of the bouncing ball.
  • the baffle is rigid and rigid and has a front surface formed in the form of a spherical cap.
  • the baffle designed according to the invention as a spherical cap has particularly advantageous reflection properties and thus advantageous playing properties. If a player strikes a ball against the baffle from a standing line that has a distance from the baffle that corresponds approximately to the radius of curvature of the spherical cap, the ball passes a certain focal point on its path of reflection. Such a focal point always exists, regardless of the area in which the ball hits the front surface of the baffle and the angle at which the player stands to the front surface of the baffle. For this reason, the player always knows exactly at which point he can expect the reflected ball to strike back. Two players can also play the ball in an advantageous manner, in that each player stands in the area of the focal point that the other player struck the ball passes. A precise play and play back is guaranteed by the device according to the invention without the player having to hit a certain area of the front surface of the baffle, so that the player can concentrate on his striking technique and can use the entire front surface of the baffle.
  • the flexible fastener with which the baffle is held on the frame advantageously ensures that the baffle retracts by yielding the flexible fastener when a struck ball hits it and then returns to its rest position.
  • the speed of the impacting ball is damped the more the stronger the ball has been hit, so that the reflected ball advantageously has only a moderate speed and can be easily struck back even when struck strongly.
  • the return of the baffle to its rest position after retreating and the damping are caused in part by the air resistance of the air behind the baffle, the air being somewhat compressed when the baffle retracts, which is why the baffle itself is designed to be unyielding and rigid.
  • the baffle has a margin for retreating when a ball hits, in a particularly advantageous manner in a preferred embodiment of the device, in which several fastening elements are arranged along the edge of the frame and are spaced apart from one another and with which the baffle is suspended in the frame.
  • the fastening elements are designed to be elastically resilient, preferably as rubber bands, so that restoring forces and damping forces also act on the baffle wall when the baffle wall is deflected due to the fastening elements themselves.
  • the radius of curvature of the spherical cap in a preferred embodiment is approximately 6 to 8 m, preferably 7 m, and the diameter of the circular outer edge of the spherical cap is about 2 m.
  • the best play distance from the baffle corresponds approximately to the radius of curvature. This game distance is approximately 7 m approximately the normal playing conditions in tennis or squash.
  • the spherical cap which has a surface diameter of approximately 2 m, can be easily hit by inexperienced players from this distance and is small enough to be transported by the player through front doors or the like.
  • the baffle is preferably provided with polyester reinforced with glass fiber.
  • the baffle can be adjusted to the size of the respective player and optionally high or low balls can be practiced, the baffle can be adjusted in its inclination to the vertical according to a development of the invention to improve the playing properties of the device according to the invention.
  • the frame is preferably a tripod, the legs of which form approximately a tetrahedron, of which two legs are connected to one another by the frame of the baffle and the third leg of which is adjustable in length for adjusting the inclination of the baffle.
  • the device according to the invention can have a joint via which the legs of the tripod are connected to one another at their upper ends, as a result of which the inclination of the baffle wall is also adjustable and as a result of which the frame is advantageously designed to be foldable.
  • FIG. 1 an inventive device is shown in a front view.
  • the device has a frame 2 arranged on a frame 1, which holds a baffle 3.
  • the frame 1 is designed as a tetrahedral tripod, and the frame 2 is arranged on two legs 4b, c of the tripod, while the third leg 4a of the tripod legs 4b, c of the tripod and the frame 2 arranged thereon at a predetermined angle to the vertical holds.
  • the frame 2 and the baffle wall 3 held therein have a circular outline and the baffle wall 3 is resiliently suspended in the frame 2 with a plurality of fastening elements 6 arranged at intervals along its edge.
  • the fasteners 6 are arranged on the edge of the baffle 3 rubber bands that wrap around the profile of the frame 2.
  • a ball opening 7 In the center of the baffle 3 there is a ball opening 7 through which a ball can be played.
  • a ball catch 8 is arranged behind the ball opening 7 and is designed as a net spanning the ball opening 7.
  • FIG. 2 shows a side view of the device of FIG. 1, in which the baffle 3 is shown in a longitudinal section.
  • the same components are designated with the same reference numbers as in FIG. 1.
  • Fig. 2 it can be seen in particular that the front surface 9 of the baffle 3 is concave in the form of a spherical cap. Furthermore, it can be seen that the two front legs 4b, c of the tripod with the third, rear leg 4a of the tripod are connected to each other via a joint 10, which collapses the frame 1 and adjusts the angle of inclination of the baffle 3 with respect to the vertical allowed.
  • the rear leg 4a of the tripod has an extension section 11 which can be pushed in and pushed out and which is equipped with locking elements which fix its pull-out position and which also changes the angle of inclination of the baffle 3 even at a constant angle between the front legs 4b, c and the rear leg 4a of the tripod allowed, so that the joint 10 is not absolutely necessary.
  • the front legs 4b, c can be connected to the rear leg 4a on the frame 1, connecting elements, bands, chains, rods or the like which can be adapted to the angular position of the joint 10 , be provided.
  • Fig. 3 shows a cross section of the baffle 3 with frame 2, but without frame 1 and without ball catch 8, to make the special spatial shape of a spherical cap of the front surface 9 of the baffle 3 clear again.
  • the same components are designated with the same reference numbers as in the previous figures.
  • Fig. 4 the baffle 3 is indicated schematically, as shown in Fig. 3, wherein it is made clear by a circular arc 12 that the baffle 3 has the shape of a spherical cap.
  • Dashed lines indicate examples of ball trajectories 13 along which a ball, for example a tennis ball, would fly, which would be knocked off from a teeing point 14 in the direction of the outer edges of the baffle 3.
  • Fig. 4 it can be seen that the ball regardless of the ball trajectory 13, provided it has no swirl, is reflected on the baffle 3 according to the law of reflection, angle of incidence equal to angle of reflection, and by a Focal point 15 flies, in which all ball trajectories 13 unite.
  • the device according to the invention is particularly suitable for two players who stand on opposite sides of the center surface normal 16 of the baffle 3 and pass a ball to each other because the ball flies through a focal point which is dependent on the distance between the players, regardless of the teeing angle from the baffle 3, for example focal point 15, and is thus calculable for the players.
  • FIG. 5 shows a diagram similar to that in FIG. 4, but in a side view.
  • the baffle in this example has an angle of inclination of 10 ° to the vertical. 5 shows that a ball, depending on whether it is hit from a lower tee 17 or from a higher tee 18, flies along dashed ball trajectories 19, 20 which intersect at a focal point 21, so that a hit ball can also be calculated in its flight height.
