Description

The subject of the invention is a method for laying tiles or floor covering as well as tiling laid according to this method.

The laying of heavy tiles, terracotta, semi-sandstone, sandstone, cements of various composition, etc. ... in the covering of building floors is traditionally done on a mortar bath constituting a screed laying on the existing support : various floors or concrete slab for example.

  • 3. l'utilisation d'un bain de mortier et le rejointoiement ultérieur au bain de ciment peut introduire des désordres dans la construction tels que des taches de ciment sur le carrelage et à la base des cloisons notamment en plâtre de la construction ;
The purpose of the screed formed by the mortar bath is to ensure the regularity and the flatness of the laying of the tiles, as well as the fixing of the tiles on this screed. The installation is then completed by the way of the joints between the tiles by bath of liquid cement mortar. This conventional process has many drawbacks, including the following:
  • 1. it does not oppose any barrier to the transmission of impact noise through the floor, the laying screed making the tiling and the floor integral, except to execute a floating slab by interposition between the floor and the screed insulating material independent of the floor, which obviously increases the construction price quite considerably, without giving full satisfaction on the other hand because it is difficult to avoid the formation of local defects of this floating slab forming sound bridges.
  • 2. it imposes a long execution in itself, painful and requiring the intervention of very conscientious specialists.
  • 3. the use of a mortar bath and the repointing subsequent to the cement bath can introduce disorders in the construction such as stains of cement on the tiles and at the base of the partitions, in particular plaster of the construction;
  • 4. it requires in practice all around the room to cut the tiles to come into contact with the partitions, this cutting is again difficult and long work.

Among the known documents relating to the techniques of laying tiles, one can in particular note the patents FR-A-2 436 859 and CH-A-527 343.

Document FR-A-2 436 859 describes a process intended for producing floor coverings which closely resembles the conventional system for laying on the walls of pre-assembled and pre-glued tiles on a support plate.

In this case, the tiles are therefore not free individually and do not include locking means as mutual as in their entirety, which requires a whole preparation prior to the laying in itself of the tiling.

As for patent CH-A-527 343, it proposes a solution which consists, for concrete or comparable material slabs, of providing grooves or gills on at least some of the edges of these slabs so as to make cooperate, during installation, the panels of a slab and the grooves of the adjacent slabs.

Unfortunately the teaching of this document is limited to this mutual locking system, without proposing real solutions to fundamentally renew the techniques of laying tiles.

It is therefore in this context that the object of the invention is, by solving the various difficulties mentioned above, to make the laying of tiles very easy and to give the laid tiles of their own qualities superior to those obtained according to conventional and known methods.

More specifically, the method of laying tiles or ceramic tiles, terracotta, sandstone or the like to form a floor covering on a slab or floor, indicates according to the invention that
  • - a carpet, a needled carpet, a compound carpet or the like forming a sheet or layer of sound insulation and support is placed on the slab or the floor
  • - said ceramic, terracotta, stoneware or similar tiles are placed on this layer which include mutual locking means such as at least one grooved edge and / or a grooved edge, by matching and engaging the horns ( or the grooves) of a tile with and in the grooves (or on the panes) of adjacent tiles, while leaving free of tiles, at the periphery of the surface to be covered, at the edge of the limiting walls of this surface, a strip of a certain width,
  • - And we position and fix in this strip, which occupies its entire width, a wooden plinth, plastic, agglomerated or other similar material. said counter-plinth comprising on its edge directed towards the laid tiling, locking means such as a cup or a groove, shaped to engage in or on the aforementioned locking means of the tiles, such as grooves or adjacent cupboards of the tiles, against which she wears and locks.

In this way the laying of the tiles is carried out dry, and no longer on a screed laying in concrete mortar, and in addition the tiles are isolated from the floor by the carpet or the underlying support carpet which forms excellent insulation. phonic.

Indeed, taking into account the approximate flatness obtained by the upper surfaces of current floors, on which a leveling of the order of a millimeter is sufficient to ensure the regularity of laying a simple carpet, it is possible according to the method of the invention simply lay on such a floor carpet in large strips that can be unrolled. A possible back-up bonding can be provided joining the carpet to the floor or to the building's support slab. On this carpet are placed the tiles, the mutual locking means ensuring good performance of the assembly. Possibly a complete collage the tiles on the support mat can be provided either with glue or with double-sided adhesive tape.

It will also be noted that according to the method of the invention, if one starts by executing the tiling of the room by the center, the laying of the tiling ends when one arrives at the periphery of the room by laying the counter-plinth against the partition, which counter-plinth frames and locks the entire set of tiles. In this way we obtain both a very beautiful aesthetic framing effect on the tiling, and on the other hand an effective locking of the assembly while avoiding the tedious and delicate operations of cutting the tiles at the periphery of the room.

The invention further relates to a tile laid as a floor covering. on a slab or a floor according to the process which has just been presented according to claim 4.

  • - la figure 1 montre de façon schématique et en perspective un carreau nouveau conçu selon l'invention ;
  • - la figure 2 montre en vue perspective le principe général de mise en place et de pose des carreaux conformément à l'invention ;
  • - la figure 3 montre schématiquement vu de dessus un carrelage réalisé avec sa bordure ;
However, the invention and its implementation will appear more clearly with the aid of the description which follows, given with reference to the appended drawings in which:
  • - Figure 1 shows schematically and in perspective a new tile designed according to the invention;
  • - Figure 2 shows in perspective view the general principle of placement and installation of tiles according to the invention;
  • - Figure 3 shows schematically seen from above a tiling made with its border;
  • - Figure 4 shows in perspective view a variant of a tile that can be used according to the invention.

According to the embodiment illustrated in the drawings and with reference first to Figures 1 to 3, is used to make a tiling 10 individual tiles 11 of substantially rectangular or square horizontal section having two edges or planar edges 12, 13 in vis-à-vis and two sections 14, 15 vis-à-vis respectively comprising a cup 16 and a groove 17.

As appears more clearly in FIG. 2, the tiling is placed on a carpet 18 itself placed on a support slab 19, for example in reinforced concrete.

At the periphery of the tiling, that is to say towards the partitions or walls 20 of the tiled room, there are counter-plinths 21 of width 1 suitable for the width of the space between the periphery of the tiling and the partition 20. These counter-plinths include, in the example illustrated, a groove 22 on the edges adjacent to the tile 10 and fitting on the cup 16 of the adjacent tiles 11. In order to facilitate the positioning of the counter-plinth 21, the latter further comprises on its lower external edge a rounded profile 21 has clearance and positioning.

The construction is completed by the installation over the plinth 21 of a plinth 23 which can be fixed to the partition 20.

Advantageously, the counter-plinth 21 includes hollow passages 24 on its underside allowing the accommodation of pipes, for example of electrical cables 25. To lay the tiling, it suffices to place on the floor or the support slab 19 the insulation mat 18 of appropriate quality, such as a carpet, a needled carpet, a compound carpet, for example of the type known under the name "lsolamur from the company France Tapis. The carpet or carpet must only have a sufficiently rigid laying surface to allow easy installation of the tiles and must meet the noise reduction standards corresponding to the use of the premises. The carpet or the carpet can possibly be glued to the slab 19, but this is not an obligation and generally it will be enough to lay them and unroll on the spot.

Next, the tiles are laid, starting from the center of the room, and mutually engaging the trims 16 of a tile in the grooves 17 of the adjacent tile. At the edge of the room, the counter-plinths 21 of appropriate width are placed to the space remaining between the tiling 10 and the partitions or walls of the room. This width will generally be less than half a tile, although larger widths can be used if a corresponding aesthetic framing effect is sought. The counter-plinth 21 will have either a groove 22 to accommodate the cupboards 16, or a cupboard to accommodate the grooves on the opposite side of the part, unless provision is made for the opposite edge of the tiles 11 comprising two handles 16 on their edges opposite. The plinth is advantageously made of wood, plastic or similar material that is easy to profile over great lengths and to cut to measure both in length and in width to allow precise adaptation to the dimensions of the room. If pipes 25 have to be placed in the plinth, this operation is carried out just before its installation.

After which the plinth 23 is positioned and fixed to the walls and partitions of the room, which ensures the locking of the entire construction.

Cependant on préférera généralement ne pas coller la contre-plinthe de façon à permettre un accès aux canalisations 25 par simple démontage de la plinthe 23.Of course, it is possible, if desired, to provide further bonding of the tiles 11 on the support mat and / or of the plinth. However, it is generally preferable not to glue the counter-plinth so as to allow access to the pipes 25 by simple dismantling of the plinth 23.

Preferably the thickness of the plinth is substantially equal to that of the tiles 11 in order to achieve good flatness of the floor surface.

According to the variant embodiment of a tile illustrated in FIG. 4, the tile 30 includes a cup 31 on two of these sections and a corresponding groove 32 on its two other sections. With such a tile, it is possible to obtain a more effective mutual locking of the tiles which are locked on the four edges instead of being locked on only two of them.

Various variants can be made to the embodiment illustrated and described while respecting the content of the claims.

Thus, for example, the means for locking the tiles can be of a configuration different from that of a cup and a corresponding groove; for example, the edges of the tiles may be in the form of a protruding V or a re-entrant V ensuring the same locking function.

Likewise, it is possible, after laying the tiles, to finish a tiling by making joints by means of an easy-to-use product such as plastic pastes or suitable suspension milks. These joints will essentially have an appearance function, the positioning and locking of the tiles being ensured by the means described.

La nature du tapis sousjacent de pose sera chaque fois choisie en fonction des impératifs de la construction : isolation phonique et/ou thermique, résistance de charge, élasticité ou rigidité, etc...In addition to the tiles mentioned, the invention can be applied to the laying of various floor elements, such as for example stone slabs. The nature of the underlying laying carpet will be chosen each time according to the requirements of the construction: sound and / or thermal insulation, load resistance, elasticity or rigidity, etc.
