Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a power terminal block according to the preamble of patent claim 1.
  • Such a high-current terminal block is already known from FR-A-2453508.
  • the busbar which is usually flat in its end region, is inserted into the clamping body from one side, while the conductor to be connected is inserted from the other , the so-called conductor insertion side is inserted into the clamping body.
  • the connection is closed by means of the clamping element, usually a clamping screw equipped with a pressure piece, which fix the inserted conductor and the conductor rail end against one another.
  • the clamping body Apart from the sometimes problematic introduction of conductors with large conductor cross-sections, such as are found in high-current sources, a particular problem results from the operation with alternating current in the higher and high current range. If, as is expedient for reasons of mechanical safety and strength, the clamping body consists of a ferromagnetic material such as steel in a known manner, it acts as a magnetically closed system. Considerable induction currents occur, which lead to unsafe heating of the clamp body in continuous operation and also negatively influence the continuity resistance. So far, this has been counteracted by overdimensioning the material thickness, with correspondingly more expensive production and with corresponding space problems.
  • paramagnetic materials are used here.
  • the disturbing inductive effects are reduced, if not eliminated.
  • the paramagnetic materials also lead to a considerable increase in the cost of production and at the same time reduce the mechanical strength and thus the mechanical safety.
  • considerable clamping forces often have to be applied and maintained via the clamping system.
  • grounding terminals which have an earth conductor connection (DE-C-20 64 636) to clamp the protective conductor together with the busbar on the support rail which can be seen separately from the terminal block and which carries it.
  • the bent-back leg of the customary mounting rail then lies in the clamping zone, as seen from the wire insertion side.
  • the occurrence of induction current problems typical for high-current terminals is excluded, since the current strengths in the protective conductor are too low and the current in the protective conductor only flows for a very short time within fractions of a second, particularly as a result of the fuses responding in the electrical system.
  • the actual busbar of the known grounding terminal runs through the terminal zone and does not lead the current out of the terminal zone on the wire insertion side.
  • the present invention has for its object to provide a device of the generic type associated with a high-current terminal, which avoids heating of the clamping body during operation with higher and higher alternating currents with little constructional and manufacturing expenditure.
  • the current that enters the clamping body from the conductor via the conductor insertion side also flows out of the clamping body on exactly the same side, in particular no longer, as was the case with such high-current terminals, on the other side of the clamping body, on which up to now the Busbar emerged from the clamp body.
  • the clamping system also has a significantly reduced volume resistance. Thanks to the use of the ferromagnetic material, good mechanical strength values and thus good mechanical safety can be easily achieved with the usual, relatively small material thickness dimensioning.
  • the required high clamping forces can be applied and maintained permanently.
  • the handling of the conductor is simplified. In this configuration, the conductor can first be placed unimpeded on the bending back of the busbar and only then can the clamping body be pushed onto the two parts lying on top of one another and the clamping carried out. The contact area is accessible without restrictions during assembly.
  • the drawing shows such a device with a sectional view of the clamping body.
  • the device for connecting a conductor includes a clamping body 1, which is designed as a stirrup made of steel which is closed by corresponding bends. At the top, a clamping screw 2 is screwed into the clamping body 1 as a clamping member, the clamping action of which is to be reinforced by a pressure piece 3 assigned to it.
  • the device also includes a busbar 4 assigned to a high-current terminal, the end of which cooperating with the clamping body 1 has a back bend 5 such that this bent back end is directed backwards, at least approximately parallel to the busbar 4, with respect to the busbar 4.
  • the back bend can be produced by actually bending the busbar backwards, but also by attaching a corresponding angle piece to the end of a non-deformed busbar.
  • the clamping body 1 defines a receptacle for the conductor 6 to be connected.
  • the conductor 6 is always inserted into the clamping body 1 from a certain side, the so-called conductor insertion side.
  • the arrangement is such that the back bend 5 of the busbar 4, and only this back bend 5, points into the clamping body 1 from the wire insertion side.
  • the course of the current resulting from this configuration after connecting the conductor is illustrated with arrows in the drawing. It can be seen that, thanks to this configuration, the current flowing from the conductor into the busbar 4 flows out of the clamping body 1 on exactly the same side on which it also flows.
  • the view of the drawing also shows that the handling when connecting the conductor is considerably simplified. Threading work of the conductor to be connected is omitted. For assembly, the end of the conductor to be connected is placed on top of the back bend 5 of the busbar 4 and then, together with these two parts, based on the busbar 4 practically from the inside, the clamping body 1 is pushed onto the two parts and the clamping is then carried out.
  • this other end of the busbar 4 is expediently also provided with a corresponding back bend 5, which in the same way with a further corresponding clamp body 1 interacts.
  • back bend 5 is formed at the end of the busbar 4 by a bending process, this is expediently combined with a further machining process, for example a corrugation of the busbars 4 or the generation of a clamping hook on the front edge of the busbar. These designs can then secure the conductor against unintentional removal.
