Definitions
- the invention relates to a water-cooled condenser, in which the condenser tubes made of titanium are rolled and / or welded at their ends in a tube sheet and in which the tube sheets are either welded to the condenser jacket or the water chamber jacket with a fillet weld or are screwed together by means of flanges.
- condensers which are arranged at the so-called cold end of engines and have the purpose of giving a larger pressure and heat gradient by generating the greatest possible vacuum, for example to a steam turbine, are known.
- the cladding In the welded construction, when using titanium tubes, the cladding must also consist of titanium for the reasons mentioned. However, due to the thermal stresses that occur, there is a risk - even if only slightly - of the plating becoming detached. Since this is completely unthinkable, especially in today's nuclear plants, which place extremely high demands on the purity of the feed water, the power plant operators demand completely safe solutions. As far as corrosion and tightness are concerned, only titanium tube sheets can be considered in addition to the titanium tubes.
- a water-cooled condenser is known with a steel condenser jacket, in which titanium tubes penetrate and are rolled into a steel tube sheet and are welded with their ends in a special titanium plate in front of the tube sheet.
- This configuration solves the problem of the otherwise common welded pipe / tube sheet connection.
- the titanium plate itself is screwed directly to the water chamber and screwed to the tube sheet via spacers. The latter is also screwed to the capacitor jacket. Since the steel tube plate is thus to be connected to the steel condenser jacket, there are no difficulties in terms of material technology, even if in the illustrated case the air can penetrate into the vapor space of the condenser due to the simple screw connection.
- the invention defined in the characterizing part of the claim is therefore based on the object to provide a connection of the tube sheet with the steel sheet of the condenser jacket or the water chamber jacket in a water-cooled condenser of the type mentioned.
- the invention thus makes it possible for the first time ever to use titanium tube sheets in welded constructions and to provide the critical point with an absolutely tight welded joint in flange constructions.
- FIG. 1 with the capacitor jacket made of simple carbon steel is designated, which is welded together in FIG. 1 with the water chamber wall 2, also made of simple steel sheet.
- the wall 2 is completely on the water side and the jacket 1 is partially provided with a protective coating 3, which is usually a rubber layer, but can also be a glass fiber reinforced epoxy resin paint.
- the tube sheet 4 is made of pure titanium. It is equipped with a large number of titanium tubes 5, which can either be rolled, welded in at their ends or both.
- the fresh cooling water is conveyed from the first water chamber 7 into the second, opposite water chamber through these tubes, which form the actual cooling surface and which penetrate the entire length of the steam chamber 6 and are supported in support plates (not shown).
- the steam to be condensed flows in cross flow in the steam chamber 6.
- the inside of the capacitor jacket 1 is now provided with explosive-plated titanium 8 at the point at which the connection to the tube sheet 4 takes place. Because of the strength of the cladding, its axial extension (in relation to the tube axes) is larger than it would be according to the tube sheet thickness.
- Explosive plating or explosive welding is a process that can be used to produce metal combinations that are not possible by fusion welding.
- the titanium sheet is placed over the capacitor jacket to be coated at a small distance.
- the explosive distributed on the titanium sheet is detonated on one side, whereupon the detonation zone runs over the titanium at high speed and accelerates it onto the capacitor jacket. This creates very high pressures in the collision zone, which lead to flowing metal boundary layers and thus to large-area welding.
- the tube sheet 4 is over its entire circumference by means of fillet welds 9 and. 10 welded to the cladding 8 and thus to the capacitor shell.
- the new solution is more advantageous in that the dreaded rust efflorescence cannot occur even with leaky pipe connections.
- the usual downtime preservation is superfluous.
- the rubber coating is much simpler than before, since the tube plate / shell connection point cannot be bridged.
- the protective cover 3 is only pulled over the slanted end of the cladding.
- both the capacitor jacket 1 and the water chamber wall 2 are each with a welded flange 1 'and. 2 'provided, between which the titanium tube sheet is screwed tightly by means of the screw connection 12 only indicated.
- the protective cover 3 is included in the flange.
- explosive-plated titanium 8 ' is arranged here on the sealing surface of the flange 1'. The plating is completely sealed with a weld seam 9 'after the tube sheets have been fitted with the condenser shell.
- the flange 1 ' is provided with a recess 11 in the zone of the sealing weld.
- the vapor space is thus secured both against air ingress and against cooling water, which could seep in via a possibly leaking protective covering 3 and the screw holes.
- Concerns that the explosive plating could become detached are irrelevant in this version, because the plating is due to the screw connection is finally subjected to pressure.

Description
- Die Bearbeitung der ausserordentlich grossen Flansche für die heutigen Grosskondensatoren gestaltet sich auf der Baustelle sehr aufwendig ;
- es besteht grundsätzlich die Gefahr, dass durch die grossen Flansche Luft in den Dampfraum des Kondensators eindringen kann ;
- Der Rohrboden muss mit einer rostfreien Plattierung auf der Wasserseite versehen sein ;
- der erforderlich Schutzüberzug der Wasserkammer wird über einen Teil des plattierten Rohrbodens gezogen und wird insbesondere im Bereich der Verbindung Rohrboden/Mantel sehr anfällig ;
- sind die Rohre eingeschweisst, so besteht während des Betriebes aufgrund der axialen Rohrkräfte die Gefahr, dass in der gelochten Zone des Rohrbodens die Plattierung sich ablöst ;
- Fig. 1 einen Teillängsschnitt eines in den Kondensatormantel eingeschweissten Rohrbodens ;
- Fig. 2 einen Teillängsschnitt einer Flanschverbindung von Wasserkammer, Rohrboden und Kondensatorschale.
