Definitions
- the invention relates to a rotary kiln with an indirectly heated rotary tube, a heating jacket, at least one drive ring and at least two races, and the use thereof for carrying out thermal processes, in particular using a vacuum or protective gas.
- Such, e.g. rotary kilns known from CH-PS 533 823 and AT-PS 312 562 have at least one drive ring and at least two races which are connected to the rotary tube.
- indirect heating of the rotary tube from the outside e.g. over heating jackets, however, there are considerable procedural disadvantages, since the relatively wide zones of the races and drive rings cannot be heated.
- the total length of the rotary kiln is lengthened at least to the extent of the unheated zones, which not only increases the cost of the system, but also represents a considerable risk of such conventional ovens being susceptible to vibration.
- the object of the invention is to ensure a heat exchange that is continuous over the entire length of the rotary tube in indirectly heated rotary kilns, to reduce the length of the rotary tube and to reduce constraining stresses in the bearing zones.
- this object is achieved in that the heating jacket is designed to be continuous in the force-transmitting drive and bearing zones.
- a co-rotating heating jacket is preferably used.
- these zones have annular baffles, for example in the form of staggered bores, a uniform heating of these zones being achieved by appropriate thermodynamic coordination of the material cross section and inadmissible thermal stresses being avoided.
- the advantages which can be achieved with the invention are, in particular, that a process-technically optimized division into several heating zones of any length is made possible and that the heating jacket is formed continuously over the bearing and drive zones, with additionally increased heat transfer in the bearing and drive zone , a shortening of the rotary tube is possible.
- OM7I medium are transported directly through bypass lines between the individual heating zones.
- the ring packs in the area of the bearing and drive rings for connecting the heating jacket to the rotary tube additionally stiffen the furnace in the support area and ensure a perfect transmission of the forces from the outer race to the rotary tube.
- FIG. 1 is a schematic view of the rotary kiln according to the invention
- FIG. 2 shows a section along the line A - A in Fig. 1 with the supply of the heat exchange medium
- FIG. 3 shows a lateral section through FIG. 2,
- FIG. 5 shows a side section through FIG. 4,
- Fig. 6 is a section along the line C - C in Fig. 1 with the drive pinion
- FIG. 7 shows a side section through FIG. 6.
- 1 schematically shows a rotary kiln according to the invention with a rotary tube 1 of, for example, 50 m in length with an inner diameter of 4.25 m and four races 4, which are mounted on rollers in a known manner.
- a drive ring 5 is attached.
- the rotary tube 1 is surrounded by a heating jacket 2 with insulation 3, which can also be rotated, is firmly connected to the rotary tube and is only interrupted in the area of the approximately 700 mm wide race rings 4 and the approximately 350 mm wide drive ring 5 is.
- the heat exchange medium preferably in the form of hot gases, e.g. Flue gas is fed to and derived from the heating jacket 2 through the supply and discharge lines 6.
- the supply and discharge line 6 is connected to the heating jacket 2 by spring-mounted slip ring seals 14, which can thus follow the movements of the rotary tube.
- 4 and 5 show the arrangement of the races 4 with rollers 18 mounted on the heating jacket 2. These are attached with a ring connection 15 on the one hand to the interrupted parts of the heating jacket 2 and on the other hand are firmly connected to the rotary tube 1 via support ring packs 16 .
- the support ring packs 16 have staggered bores 17, thereby forcing a vortex flow of the heat exchange medium flowing through. This vortex flow results in a significantly higher heat transfer compared to the flow in the ring channels 12 and thus results in a compensating heating despite the interruptions by the support ring packs 16.
- FIGS. 6 and 7 show the drive ring 5, which is fixedly connected to the heating jacket 2 via connecting springs 19. This is moved by the drive pinion 20.
- the heating jacket 2 is in turn firmly connected to the rotary tube 1 by the support ring packs 16, which are provided with offset bores 17, so that a turbulent flow of the heat exchange medium is enforced, with all the advantages of the improved heat transfer.
