Definitions

  • the subject of the present invention is a protective helmet comprising a rigid cap and an inner cap comprising flexible transverse bands, the lateral parts of which converge at points symmetrical with respect to the longitudinal median plane of the helmet and situated substantially at the ears of the user, this helmet being usable with a removable respiratory mask moored on the helmet by at least one lateral fixing arm, of variable length, articulated on one side of the mask and linked to the cap of the helmet on one side thereof, notches and / or hooks holding the arm while making it separable from the helmet.
  • a helmet of this kind on which a removable breathing mask is adaptable, is already known from US-A patent No. 3990757.
  • a helmet supplemented by a facial mask it is generally known, for example from the patent US-A No. 4279037, to maintain the assembly on the head of the user by means of an inner cap to the cap, comprising flexible transverse bands, the lateral parts of which converge in zones situated at the level of the ears of the user, the connection between the mask and the helmet itself being carried out in these areas - see also patent G B-AN "844060.
  • Patent US-A No. 3990757 relates to an aviator helmet, on which is adaptable a respiratory mask of reduced dimensions, linked to the cap of the helmet by a single lateral arm placed either on the right side or on the left side.
  • a single arm would certainly be insufficient to ensure the good performance of a respiratory mask covering the entire face of the user, by ensuring sealing around the periphery of the mask.
  • the single fixing arm according to patent US-A No. 3990757 is provided with means such as notches or hooks, cooperating with a receiving part provided with internal hooking notches, carried laterally by the cap of the helmet.
  • This assembly makes it possible to adjust the length of the fixing arm, but does not ensure an elastic tension of the arm, in the direction of application of the mask on the face of the user.
  • the fitting of the mask requires the introduction of the end of the fixing arm into the receiving part of the cap of the helmet, which can constitute a delicate maneuver, relatively difficult to perform by the user if he does not remove his helmet.
  • the present invention provides a helmet capable of being used with a respiratory mask, and in particular intended for firefighters, soldiers, policemen, etc., this helmet allowing the adaptation of the respiratory mask by simple and safe means. , in a maneuver achievable in a very short time and without the need to remove the helmet, thanks to a prior resetting operation, the seal being in all cases ensured around the periphery of the mask.
  • the invention provides that the cap of the helmet is provided externally and on each side, at the level of the ears of the user, hooking notches for securing two lateral attachment arms attached to the breathing mask of on either side of it, that each lateral fixing arm comprises two telescopic elements connected together by spring means tending to make them penetrate into each other, that a hook cooperating with the corresponding notch of the cap is pivotally mounted on the rear telescopic element of the arm, abutment means being provided on the front telescopic element of the arm and on an extension of the hook to temporarily lock the two elements in the stretched position, and that are still provided means for unlocking these abutment means, triggered by support of the arms on the outer surface of the helmet during the fitting of the mask.
  • hooking notches can be produced simply and economically, in particular by coming from molding with the lateral zones of the cap of the helmet.
  • each attachment arm of the respiratory mask comprises two tubular elements mounted to slide one inside the other and connected together by an internal spring tending to make them penetrate one into the other, the means abutment comprising, on the one hand, a stop formed at the end, remote from the mask, from the external tubular element articulated to the mask and, on the other hand, part of a lug extending the hook beyond its articulation on the inner tubular element, while the unlocking means are constituted by another part of the tab.
  • An internal cable can limit the stretching of the arms and thus avoid the separation of the two tubular elements. Stopping means, provided on the one hand on the outer tube and on the other hand on the tab extending the hook, can auxiliary block the mask in its final position.
  • a protective helmet for example a helmet intended for firefighters, which includes a rigid protective cap 1 inside which is disposed a deformable cap 2, which is the part which fits on the head of the user.
  • This protective helmet is designed to be able to be used at the same time as a respiratory mask 3 covering the entire face and comprising a goggle 4 (see fig. 1 and 2).
  • the cap 2 of the helmet comprises a strip holder 5, fixed inside the cap 1 at six points 6 and comprising between these points guides 7 crossed by a strip 8 of length adjustable by any means whatever. depending on the user's head circumference.
  • the cover 2 also comprises a deformable assembly composed of three transverse bands 9, 10, 11 and a longitudinal band 12, this assembly being made of flexible but non-elastic material: fabric, leather, or combination of fabric and leather.
  • the longitudinal flexible strip 12 intended to envelop the user's head exactly according to its profile, has its anterior end moored in an adjustable manner, for example by means of a self-locking loop 13 (see fig. 3), that of the fixing points 6 located in the front zone of the cap 1 and of the band holder 5.
  • the rear end of the longitudinal flexible strip 12, devoid of adjustment means, is fixed in the occipital zone of the cap 4 by by means of a semi-rigid connecting piece 14, which can be maintained on the cap 1 by using the rear fixing point 6 of the band holder 5.
  • This semi-rigid piece 14 avoids partial overturning of the cover 4 and in particular of the posterior transverse strip 11, when the helmet is placed on the head.
  • the middle parts of the three transverse flexible strips 9, 10, 11 cross the longitudinal flexible strip 12 at right angles, to which they are linked so as to form a single piece.
  • the lateral parts of the three transverse flexible bands 9, 10, 11 lead on each side to three self-locking loops (respectively: 15, 16, 17), individually fixed inside the cap 1.
  • the three loops 15,16 , 17 are arranged in an arc, so that the directions of the three bands 9, 10, 11 in the lateral parts converge at the same point 18, located slightly in front of the ear, the region of which remains clear, which allows you to equip the helmet with earphones. All this arrangement, and in particular the position of the two points 18, is obviously symmetrical with respect to the longitudinal median plane of the helmet.
  • the converging lateral parts of the three flexible bands 9, 10, 11 of the cover are not individually moored to the cap 1, but pass through on each side, as shown in FIG. 4, two concentric self-locking lights 20, 21 formed in a rigid lateral disc 22, for example a metal disc, having a central opening 18 ′ by which it is fixed inside the cap 1.
  • Each of the two discs 22 can also include, in its part facing downwards, another lumen in an arc 23 allowing the fixing and the orientation of the chin strap 19.
  • the cap 1 of the helmet externally comprises, for the adaptation of the respiratory mask 3, two substantially vertical catching notches 24 formed on each side of this cap, in the zone of convergence of the lateral parts of the three transverse bands 9, 10, 11 of the cap 2.
  • the respiratory mask 3 is provided with two fixing arms 25, articulated respectively on two parts 26 fixed on either side of the hoop 27 of its telescope 4; the length of the parts 26 is such that it fixes the spacing of the two arms 25 at a value allowing them to pass easily on either side of the cap 1 of the helmet.
  • each of the fixing arms 25 comprises two tubular elements 28, 29, one of which is slidably mounted inside the other, hence a telescopic structure.
  • the external tubular element 28 is situated in front and articulated, along an axis 30, on the part 26 while on the internal tubular element 29, located behind, is articulated a hook 31, pivoting around an axis 32.
  • the two axes 30, 32 are interconnected by a helical spring 33, housed inside the two tubular elements 28, 29 and tending to cause these two elements to penetrate one into the other.
  • An internal cable 34 also connects the two axes 30, 32, passing through the spring 33, so as to limit the exit of the element 29 from the element 28, therefore the stretching of the arm 25.
  • each arm 25 is “armed” by pulling the internal tubular element 29 out of the external tubular element 28, which tightens the spring 33, and by immobilizing the two elements 28, 29 relatively to each other thanks to the following means: the end of the outer tubular element 28 remote from the axis 30 forms a cocking stop 35, which cooperates with a retaining catch 36 belonging to a lug 37 which extends the hook 31 beyond its hinge pin 32 (see fig. 5).
  • the two arms 25 being thus armed, the user folds them simultaneously against the two sides of the helmet, as indicated by an arrow 38.
  • the mask 3 is thus blocked on the helmet, and it is correctly positioned relative to the face thanks to the adjustments previously made on the cap 2 of the helmet. Correct sealing is obtained in this way, by avoiding the mask 3 and in particular the strapping 27 of its lens 4 from abutting against the edge of the helmet, advantageously provided with a flexible seal 44, such as a tubular foam rubber seal. which, coming to rest on the mask, will provide protection against various projections which risk penetrating inside the helmet, this flexible seal 44 not interfering with the passage of the peripheral lip of the mask 3 during its fitting.
  • a flexible seal 44 such as a tubular foam rubber seal.
  • lacoiffe 2 is simplified and consists, on the one hand, of a pad or more advantageously of two half-pads 45 on which come to bear the forehead and part of the temples of the user and, on the other hand, associated with these pads 45, three transverse bands 9, 10, 11 adjustable in perimeter by loops or hook-and-loop ribbons 15, 16, 17 which allow the cap to be adjusted to the size of the user and the position of the helmet in height relative to the head.
  • the helmet By acting on the adjustment of the front 9 and central 10 transverse bands, the helmet is raised or lowered.
  • the anterior band 11 which encloses the nape of the neck, the forehead is pressed against the pads 45, thus adjusting the head circumference at the same time and ensuring, thanks to this band 11 resting on the nape, good resistance heaving helmet.
  • This helmet may also include, as shown in fig. 9, a retractable mobile double screen, namely: a first screen 47, called an ocular screen, capable of being brought by pivoting before the eyes of the user, and a second screen 48, called a face screen, which can be brought by pivoting in a lowered position completely covering the face of the user.
  • a retractable mobile double screen namely: a first screen 47, called an ocular screen, capable of being brought by pivoting before the eyes of the user, and a second screen 48, called a face screen, which can be brought by pivoting in a lowered position completely covering the face of the user.
  • the two screens 47, 48 When they are raised, the two screens 47, 48 are housed under the cap 1, between the latter and an internal part 49; the face screen 48 then remains partially projecting from the front of the helmet to form a visor, while the eye screen 47 is entirely retracted, between the face screen 48 and the internal part 49 secured to the cap 1.
