Definitions
- the invention relates to a device for the continuous galvanizing of metal wires in sections, in which the wire is guided in a rinsing chamber through which electrolyte liquid flows and in which a grid connected as an anode is provided, consisting of an unwinding and a winding device, between which a is provided with a groove for the metal wire, made of insulating material wheel.
- the state of the art can be used in such a way that the surfaces to be coated are wetted with electrolyte liquid connected as anode via electrolyte feed lines which open into nozzles.
- electrolyte feed lines which open into nozzles.
- the delimitation of these wetted areas is, however, very imprecise, so that in order to avoid rejects, larger areas than required must always be coated.
- DE-OS 2225391 discloses a device consisting of an unwinding and a winding device, between which a wheel made of insulating material is arranged, which is divided in two perpendicular to its axis, the slot created by the division into two the circumference is covered by the band to be electroplated and electrolyte liquid is supplied via the remaining space, optionally with the interposition of a mask.
- the space between the two partial wheels thus serves as an electrolysis chamber, from which either the entire length of the band or covered by a mask or a ring provided with openings, the electrolyte liquid can reach the band running on the circumference of the wheel. If you want to provide a band with a galvanic coating only in sections with this device, the electrolysis liquid always reaches the band through a hole which is closed off by the band.
- the object of the invention is to provide a device with which metal wires can be reproducibly partially (partially) galvanically coated with the desired layer thickness, whereby the length of the sections to be coated, as well as the distances between these sections, should always be the same and constant as well as the thickness of the layer to be applied.
- This is achieved according to the invention in that radially extending recesses are provided at the desired distance from one another, into which end pieces connected with electrolyte feed lines open from both wheel sides, into each of which a grid connected as an anode is inserted on the mouth side.
- the wire to be coated in sections like the tape to be coated on one side in the device according to DE-OS 2225391, is guided over a wheel and held there securely.
- the wire exposed there is turbulently washed around from both sides by the electrolyte liquid, so that it is galvanically coated over its entire exposed surface, as tests carried out have confirmed, in a uniform layer thickness.
- This can contribute to the fact that the end pieces on the mouth side extend over the entire width of the respective recess and also that the clear width of the end piece mouths transverse to the longitudinal direction of the metal wire corresponds to at least three times the wire thickness.
- the electrolyte can simply overflow over the edges of the cutouts, or an electrolyte drain channel can also be provided, expediently at the bottom of the cutouts.
- the running groove of the wheel can also run spirally on the circumference of the wheel, with one or multiple wrapping of the wheel.
- the wheel can also be driven in accordance with the forward speed of the wire.
- the metal wire 1 to be coated (shown in dash-dot lines in FIG. 1) is guided in the direction of arrows 2, 3 from an unwinding device to a winding device. In this way, it runs over deflection rollers 4, 5, which guide it onto the raceway 7
- Guide wheel 6 made of insulating material.
- radially extending recesses 8 are provided on the wheel 6, which open into axially extending bores 9.
- End pieces 10, 11, which are bent at an angle and are inserted into a hole running at the bottom of the groove and axially crossing the recess 8, are provided on the mouth side with a grid 12 connected as an anode.
- These end pieces 10, 11 are connected via supply hoses 13, 14 to an axially arranged drum 15, which has a central inlet connection 16 for the supply of electrolyte liquid.
- the wheel 6 is supported or connected to a drive shaft via an axle stub 17.
- the wire 1 When the system is operating, the wire 1 is guided over the deflection roller 4 onto the running groove 7 of the wheel and discharged again via the further deflection roller 5 to the winding device.
- the metal wire 1 is connected as a cathode via a sliding contact etc.
- the electrolyte liquid supplied under pressure via the drum 15 is fed to the end pieces 10, 11 via the electrolyte feed lines 13, 14, so that it turbulently flushes around the metal wire 1, which is exposed in the recess 7.
- the electrolyte liquid passes through the grids 12, which are provided as an anodes and are provided on the end pieces 10, 11 on the mouth side, so that the desired galvanic conditions for achieving precipitation occur on a section of the metal wire 1 which corresponds to the width of the recess 7.
- the electrolyte liquid introduced can flow out through the cutout 8 or the axial bores 9. Even if parts of the metal wire that are not to be galvanized are also wetted by the electrolytic liquid, there is no precipitation, since the current causing this precipitation only flows between the end pieces 10, 11 and the wire 1 exposed in the recess 7.

Description
