Abstract

In order to allow the mast fixed of a sail craft, particularly a surf board, to have greater freedom, the mast is mounted so as to swing and rotate on a pole (2) mounted itself swingable and rotatable or foldable on the body (1) of the craft.

Description

The invention relates to a sailing device, in particular a surfboard, the sail of which is held by a mast arranged movably at the free end of a support rod and in which the support rod is pivotally and rotatably connected to the sliding body (PCT patent application WO 82/03 053, priority 11.03. 1981, FR; published 16.09.82).

In a device of the aforementioned type, the mast and the support rod are rotatably connected to one another, as a result of which the sail is brought into different rotational positions with respect to the support rod and, by pivoting and rotating the support rod, can assume various inclinations towards the sliding body. A disadvantage of this device has been shown that the user has to hold the mast, sail and the support rod in the different positions permanently with great effort.

It is an object of the invention to increase the adjustability of the sail to the sliding body and to fix the sail in the positions.

According to the invention, this object has found a solution in that the mast is rotatably held on a pivot pin connected to the support rod on the support rod and can be ascertained by means of releasable locking means or cord pulls in the upright position and the pivoting and tilting positions. This ensures that when the mast is held transversely or obliquely to the water surface, sliding phases of the surfboard on the water surface are possible, while with parallel mounting of the mast parallel to the water surface, flight phases in the manner of a kite can take place over long distances directly. The mast to the support rod can be moved as desired by the hinge pin, but can be fixed in the working positions without any effort on the part of the user.

Finally, for simplified handling of the sailing device, provision is also made for the support rod to be fixed to the sliding body by means of releasable catches. A retaining clip, a ratchet drive or the like can serve as notches.

The invention is explained using an exemplary embodiment in the drawing. Show it :
  • FIG. 1 shows a side view of a surfboard with a mast fixed to the sliding body in the upright position,
  • FIG. 2 shows a surfboard from FIG. 1 with the mast swung down, in perspective,
  • Figure 3 enlarged a portion of the support rod and mast and
  • Figure 4 enlarged a portion of the support rod and mast according to another training.

In the figures, 1 denotes the sliding body of a surfboard, on the upper side of which a support rod 2 is applied by means of a tiltable and rotatable foot part 3. According to the invention, a pivotable and tiltable hinge pin 5 is pushed near the free end of the support rod 2 through a bore 4 and rotatably holds a mast 6 (Fig. 3). The mast holds together with a single or double holding device 7, in particular spreader bars 7 'or 7 ", a sail 8. In the position of FIG. 1 the mast 6 is fixed with its lower end by a cord 9 on the support rod 2 and Sliding phases are easily possible by means of the mast 6 held in this way. The sliding body 1 can be designed in any manner, for example in the manner of a surfboard or can be designed as a water ski. In addition, there are further sliding bodies, such as a diamond-shaped plate , conceivable.

In Fig. 2 the sailing device is shown as an aircraft. For this purpose, the mast 6 is pivoted about the hinge pin 5. The mast is pivoted away after loosening the cord 9 by applying a torque to the holding device 7 on the spreader bar 7 '. By lifting or lowering the holding device 7, the sail 8 is adapted to the flight requirements. In this case, the hinge pin 5 moves in a conical extension 4 'of the bore 4. The support rod 2 is expediently firmly connected to the sliding body in the position shown by releasable catches. By pivoting the mast 6 back into the upright position and fixing it to the support rod 2, the latter, like the sail 8, can once again assume the position of FIG. 1 for sliding phases.

In Fig. 4, the hinge pin 5 is replaced by a rubber joint 10 which is held by a threaded bolt 11 on the support rod 2. A slide plate 12 inserted between the support rod 2 and the rubber joint 10 facilitates the pivoting down of the mast 6 by bending the rubber joint 10. When the mast 6 is resiliently held, the mast 6 is automatically reset under the influence of prestresses generated in the rubber joint when it is pivoted away.
