Definitions
- Emergency key devices of this type are known, German utility model 1 945 884 and Swiss patent 577 617. These emergency key devices are designed so that the lock can be operated either from the inside or from the outside with a normal key. When the key is inserted and twisted on one side, the coupling designed as a locking coupling prevents the key from being fully inserted from the other side. In various cases, such as in hotels, hospitals and old people's homes, however, it is necessary that locks can be operated from the other side in emergency situations even with the key inserted and twisted.
- Modern emergency key devices also have the requirements that the emergency keys cannot simply be produced by grinding or filing off a normal key, and that a system with emergency keys can be created from a locking system without an emergency function by simply replacing parts.
- the known emergency key devices according to Swiss patent 577 617 have relatively complicated multi-part locking couplings.
- the coupling parts are held apart by springs, and additional actuation cams are required.
- the emergency key is also constructed in several parts in these systems, with actuating elements which are displaceable and provided with return springs are arranged in the emergency key.
- the invention has for its object to provide an emergency key device with a simple coupling and a one-piece emergency key.
- the emergency key system should be able to be assembled from a normal system by simply replacing parts, and the emergency key should differ so much from the normal key that it cannot be reworked in a simple manner.
- the locking member hub of the locking member is provided with at least one of the two end faces in the area opposite the locking cylinder rotors, and that a cam is arranged at the front end of the emergency key bit, which softens over the outer limit of a normal key extends and this cam is designed such that it engages in one of the recesses of the teeth on the locking member hub when the emergency key is fully inserted.
- the toothing can be arranged on both sides of the closing member hub.
- the emergency key according to the invention enables the lock to be actuated from both sides with the key inserted on one side.
- the toothing can be designed in the form of depressions and elevations with a partially rectangular, triangular, semicircular or similar cross section. The selection of triangular cross sections for the depressions and elevations on the locking member hub and for the tip of the emergency key cam has proven to be particularly advantageous.
- the locking clutch is formed from two identical cylindrical coupling parts, each with two driver cams and a key groove.
- the two coupling parts are rotatably mounted and fastened independently of one another on an axis.
- the two coupling parts are fixed on the axle after installation in the closing member hub by a known pin or snap connection.
- the cams of the two coupling parts have a distance between them which corresponds at least to the length of the closing member hub minus the depth of a groove in the hub.
- the length of the driver cams on the coupling parts is dimensioned such that a part of the two cams of one of the coupling parts still remains in the groove on the inner end face of one of the locking cylinder rotors when the inner surfaces of these two cams rest on one of the base surfaces of the grooves in the locking member hub.
- the two cams of the other coupling member are located completely outside the groove on the other side of the closing member hub.
- the beard is at least about the axial displacement Locking clutch shortened in the locking link.
- the cam on the front end of the beard is designed such that it engages positively in one of the recesses of the face toothing on the hub without moving the locking coupling over the part of the coupling member protruding from the locking member hub.
- the emergency key is made in one piece and the locking coupling has no springs. Furthermore, exactly the same components are used in the double cylinder lock without emergency function, only the locking member hub has no splines. When converting a normal lock, only the locking member hub has to be replaced, whereby this can be provided with teeth on one or two sides.
- the emergency key device is characterized by the simplest design and great operational reliability.
- a double cylinder lock 1 which consists essentially of a housing 20, two stators 18, 19 and rotors 15, 16, a locking member 4 with a hub 5, a locking clutch 11 and locking pins 17, 40 in a known manner .
- the locking member 4 is formed in two parts, in that the locking member hub 5 is manufactured independently and is connected to the part carrying the locking member nose 6 by means of a wedge connection.
- the keyway 7 in the closing member hub 5 can be seen in FIG. 2.
- the closing member 4, including the hub 5, can also be formed in one piece, depending on the manufacturing process.
- the locking clutch 11 is arranged in the closing member hub 5.
- This locking clutch 11 consists of the two coupling parts 12, 13 and the axis 14.
- the coupling parts 12, 13 each consist of a cylindrical part with two driver cams 21, 22.
- both coupling parts 12, 13 each have a key groove 30, 31 which is slightly wider than the thickness of the beard 26 of a normal key 2.
- the two coupling parts 12, 13 are rotatably mounted on the axis 14.
- the axis 14 has a groove at both ends, in which a pin engages. This pin is pressed from the outside into the cylindrical part of the coupling parts 12, 13.
- the two coupling parts 12, 13 can thus be rotated independently of one another on the axis 14 and, at the same time, have a precisely defined axial distance from one another between the inner surfaces 38, 39 of the driving cams 21, 22.
- the cylindrical parts of the coupling parts 12, 13 are rotatable in the bore 32 of the closing member hub 5 and axially displaceable by the dimension 28.
- a groove 23, 24 is machined into the closing member hub 5 on both sides. The width of these grooves 23, 24 is dimensioned such that the driver cams 21, 22 can be displaced therein with play.
- the locking member hub 5 has at least on one of the two end faces 8, 9 a spline 10.
- This serration 10 is formed from elevations and depressions with a triangular cross section.
- the individual teeth run radially to the longitudinal axis of the locking member hub 5. In the example shown, twelve teeth are attached.
- the emergency key 3 shown in FIGS. 3 and 4 has on the broad sides 33 and on the narrow sides 34 the same recesses 35 and actuating tracks 36 as a normal key 2.
- the beard 27 is shortened by at least the dimension 28, which corresponds to the displacement of the locking clutch 11 in the closing member hub 5.
- the shape of a normal beard 26 is also shown in broken lines in FIG. 3.
- the beard 27 is provided at the front end with a cam 29 which, when the emergency key 3 is fully inserted in the lock 1, is located outside the cylindrical part of the coupling parts 12, 13.
- This cam 29 also has a triangular cross section at the tip 37.
- the cam 29 interacts in a form-fitting manner with the recesses in the face teeth 10 on the closing member hub 5 without the locking coupling 11 having to be moved out of its position.
- a lock 1 according to the invention is actuated by a normal key 2, then with this key 2 the locking pins 17, 40 which are mounted in the stator 18 and are only indicated are brought into a position in which the rotor 15 can be rotated relative to the stator 18.
- the locking coupling 11 is pushed completely to the other side until the inner surfaces 38 of the cams 21 bear against the base surface of the groove 23. In this position, part of the cams 21 remains in the groove 25 in the lock cylinder rotor 15. The rotation of the locking member 4 takes place via the cams 21 as soon as the rotor 15 is rotated.
- the second part 13 of the locking clutch 11 is pushed so far out of the closing member hub 5 that the cams 22 are completely in the corresponding groove in the rotor 16.
- the coupling part 13 remains in its position.
