Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for degreasing annealing thin strips and foils made of aluminum and aluminum alloys in an annealing furnace.
- foils - petroleum-based lubricating oils or aqueous lubricating oil emulsions are used as rolling aids, with paraffin-based petroleum with additives such as palm kernel fat, long-chain alkyl alcohols, monocarboxylic acid alkyl esters, etc. being used predominantly today.
- the foils wound into rolls are then annealed in large chamber furnaces in dry air. This annealing operation causes degreasing, i.e. the film surface is freed from the wafers on top. As a result of the annealing, the film is also converted from the hard-rolled to the soft state required for certain subsequent operations.
- annealing temperature is understood here as below to mean the metal temperature - the individual foil webs are more or less firmly attached to one another.
- the adhesive effect increases sharply with increasing annealing temperature.
- annealing temperatures above about 400 ° C discolouration of the film surface can also occur. Film rolls whose film webs have a tendency to stick can only be processed with difficulty in a subsequent refinement.
- the operational degreasing annealing process is handled today in such a way that the film rolls are annealed in a chamber furnace at a metal temperature of 250 to 300 ° C, whereby annealing times of between 30 and 60 hours are required, depending on the roll width, for the complete removal of Walzoel residues.
- annealing times of between 30 and 60 hours are required, depending on the roll width, for the complete removal of Walzoel residues.
- an occasional scrap of adhesive film is accepted.
- the relatively long glow times temporarily lead to a lack of free glow capacity and also represent a not insignificant cost factor.
- the invention is therefore based on the object of influencing the degreasing annealing process in such a way that the annealing times can be shortened and the tendency to stick of foils wound into rolls is further reduced.
- the object is achieved by adding ozone to the annealing furnace atmosphere.
- a tendency to stick can practically no longer be determined even at annealing temperatures around 400 ° C. This is not to be expected easily if the degreasing annealing process is accelerated biologically.
- the reduced tendency to stick may be related to a structural change in the oxide layer produced on the film surface by degreasing during the degreasing treatment.
- a completely residue-free film surface can be achieved even at annealing temperatures around 150 ° C. This can be used, for example, if, in the case of degreasing annealing, a simultaneous transfer of the foils from the hard-rolled to the soft state is not desired.
- the following example shows the advantages of an eg grease annealing in an ozone-containing annealing furnace atmosphere.
- the annealing furnace atmosphere consisted of dried synthetic air with and without the addition of ozone.
- ozone 0.2 vol% ozone was added to the purge gas.
- the purge gas flow through the annealing furnace was 185 cm 3 / min in each case.
- the wettability of the film surface was used to assess the degreasing, the diameter of a water drop of 5 ⁇ l being used as a measure.
- the film rolls were stored horizontally practically smoothly.
- the force converted to a film width of 1 mm is called the adhesive force.
