Definitions

  • the invention relates to a piece of furniture with a frame with a guide that enables a substantially horizontal displacement of a seat relative to the frame, further with a pivotable on the frame about a horizontal axis backrest, wherein a support is articulated to the rear end of the seat, the is located on the side of the backrest facing the user of the seating furniture in such a way that when the seat is moved forward, starting from a rear starting position of the seat, the support in the lumbar region of the user is also moved to support this area, or vice versa.
  • GB-A-1 056 648 describes such seating. Bars are attached to the sides of the seat, the rear ends of which are bent upwards. The upper ends of these bends are articulated with telescopic tubes, the other ends of which are articulated in the neck region of the backrest on rods which stiffen the backrest. Starting from the rear starting position, the user of this piece of seating furniture can therefore move the seat surface approximately horizontally to the front, his lumbar vertebra area being constantly supported during this movement via the telescopic tubes with the upholstery resting on them. Beyond the rear starting position, which corresponds approximately to the upright sitting position, the backrest cannot be pivoted backwards.
  • the back and in particular the lumbar region of the user are supported only by the two lateral telescopic tubes with their padding.
  • the forces acting in this area on the upholstery in the forward-shifted position of the seat surface therefore result in the upholstery becoming tired relatively quickly and therefore no longer offering the user optimal support in the lumbar region.
  • the length of the telescopic tubes necessarily changes when the seat surface is supported with support of the lumbar region, which in turn can damage the upholstery in the region of the telescopic tubes unless special precautions are taken for this.
  • FR-A-1 301 578 describes a chair, the seat of which can be displaced in the horizontal direction on the frame. At the rear end of the seat, the backrest is articulated, which in turn is articulated to the frame approximately in its central region. A spring engages the back of the seat and the frame and pulls the seat and backrest into an upright starting position.
  • DE-A-2644412 describes a piece of seating furniture with a seat surface and a backrest articulated to the rear part of the seat surface, the common joint being articulated via a handlebar to the frame of the seat furniture.
  • the seat can be folded up flat against the backrest using another handlebar.
  • This seating furniture therefore does not adequately support the lumbar region of a person sitting on it.
  • a similar piece of seating furniture is described in FR-A-2088851, in which, however, the seat surface and the backrest are rigidly connected to one another. They are pivotally attached to the frame via a pair of handlebars. In the front area of the frame, a guide is also provided for a horizontal displacement of the seat with backrest relative to the frame.
  • FR-A-1 493433 describes a seat with a seat surface and a backrest articulated thereon, both of which are guided on the frame of the seating furniture in such a way that the backrest changes its inclination relative to the frame when the seat surface is horizontally displaced forwards or backwards.
  • a spring pulls the seat and thus the backrest connected to it into the upright starting position.
  • the lumbar region of a person sitting on it is not supported because the backrest is designed as a flat plate.
  • the invention has for its object to provide seating of the type mentioned in such a way that the user can comfortably lean back even further while maintaining the advantageous support of his lumbar region, starting from the rear initial position of the seating furniture, with the inclination of the backrest to the horizontal even further is flattened and at the same time the seat is moved further forward.
  • the seating furniture according to the invention should have a long service life.
  • the invention is characterized in that the backrest is articulated to the seat and around the horizontal axis can also be pivoted backwards, starting from the rearward starting position, that the support is designed as a support plate, the lower end of which is articulated to the seat surface, that the support plate is divided by an additional joint into an upper partial plate and a lower partial plate, of which the lower part of the plate supports the lumbar region of the user, and that the support plate on the backrest is displaceable relative to this.
  • the support plate also moves forward and backward together with the seat.
  • a web is provided which articulates the joint between the seat surface and the backrest with the lower partial plate.
  • the forces to be exerted here are particularly low if the web forms an approximately right angle with the lower partial plate in the starting position of the seating furniture, as is also preferred.
  • a spring can connect the frame to the seat, which pulls the seat into the starting position.
  • the seating furniture according to the invention has a headrest, it is preferred that its inclination is also adjusted.
  • the backrest and the upper partial plate are articulated in the neck area, a band connecting the seat surface to the pivotable upper partial plate of the backrest.
  • the band is designed for example as a steel band.
  • the band which is preferably attached to both sides of the seating furniture, also pulls the uppermost part of the backrest forward, so that the substantially vertical arrangement of the headrest remains essentially unchanged during the displacement.
  • the pivoting of the uppermost part of the backrest that is carried out in this case is also communicated to the upper partial plate of the support plate, which for this purpose is articulated to the part of the support plate which adjoins downwards.
  • the backrest is pivotally mounted on a rearward, upward extension of the frame.
  • the construction described is thereby independent of any armrests that may be present, which is advantageous for many applications.
  • An armchair provided with a headrest and without armrests is shown in the drawing.
  • the principles described can equally well be applied to a chair or other seating furniture, for example an aircraft seat, motor vehicle seat, armchair, etc., with or without armrests.
  • the novel seating consists of a frame 1, a seat 2, a backrest 3 and a front support plate 4 located on the front of the backrest.
  • a guide rail X runs essentially horizontally and guides the seat surface 2 on the frame 1.
  • Another guide rail Y guides the rear area of the seat surface 2 and the front support plate 4.
  • a further guide rail Z runs in the area of a joint C of the front support plate 4 and guides it on the backrest 3.
  • a tension spring 5 connects the frame to the joint A, which connects the lower part of the backrest 3 to the rear part of the seat 2.
  • a web 6 also acts, the other end of which is attached to a joint D at the lower part of the front support plate 4. In the starting position (cf. FIG. 1), the web 6 forms approximately a right angle with the lower part of the front support plate.
  • the front support plate thus consists of several parts, namely a lower part plate 7, which is formed between a joint E and the joint C.
  • the hinge E is formed on the lower edge of the front support plate and is guided along the guide Y.
  • the front support plate consists of an upper partial plate 8 and one or more further upper partial plates 9, which are connected to one another via one or more joints G.
  • the upper partial plate 9 is provided when the seating furniture has a headrest.
  • the backrest is 3 in an upper part 13 continued, which is articulated on the backrest 3 via a joint F.
  • padding 10 for the seat surface 2 and padding 11 for the backrest with a support plate are also indicated.
  • the movement described can be achieved back and forth by a corresponding movement of the body, without the use of levers or buttons.
  • armrests are not included in the construction described, because the backrest 3 is pivotally mounted on the frame 1 via the axis B. Armrests only need to be connected to the frame 1 in the usual way.
  • the tension of the spring 5 holds the seating furniture in the unloaded state in the upright position shown in FIG. 1.
  • the rear part of it is quilted in cross pipes and provided with rubber bands perpendicular to it, or is at least elastic in the direction of arrow 12 (direction of movement).
