Definitions
- the invention relates to a crank knob, in particular for window cranks of vehicles, which is rotatably arranged on the crank pin of a crank arm and has a catch lock which can be snapped into a breakthrough of the crank pin and which has spring arms formed at one end with locking cams and at the other end in one piece with a flange owns.
- US-A-4052768 shows a window crank with a crank knob which, according to FIG. 8, consists of an inner holding part to be fastened by clipping into the crank pin made of relatively hard material and an outer button part encasing this from softer material.
- the holding part is not secured against twisting and is therefore subject to wear, which can lead to the crank button wobbling after a certain period of use and loosening over time.
- Such crank knobs are therefore at least rejected by the European automotive industry. Regardless of this, it appears questionable whether the crank knob according to Fig. 8 of US-A-4052768 meets the safety requirements, because the inner crank knob part, which must be made of relatively hard material in order to prevent pulling off, is very large in relation to the outer crank knob part large volume and also has a number of sharp edges.
- crank knob which is mounted on the crank pin in such a way that the points at risk of wear are secured against twisting, thereby preventing material abrasion which impairs the functionality of the crank knob.
- the crank knob has an open design and is partially covered by the trigger lock, which is secured against twisting.
- crank knob it is disadvantageous that the trigger lock, which must be made of a relatively hard material in order to fulfill its holding function, is located at the free end of the crank knob. Because this allows the crank knob to protrude from the mounting surface of the crank arm, in the most unfavorable position, by a maximum of 25 mm due to the applicable European Community legislation on the interior of motor vehicles. An adjustment of the crank knob according to De-U-7428675 to the applicable legal regulations would require such a considerable height reduction of the crank knob that a comfortable handling would no longer be guaranteed.
- the invention is based on the object of improving a crank knob of the type mentioned in such a way that it fully complies with the European Community legislation on the interior of motor vehicles and enables convenient handling.
- the crank knob consists of a cap which can be plugged onto the crank pin and is overlapped at one end by the flange of the trigger lock, a cap which overlaps the flange and concentrically encloses the socket in some areas, and a cap which is anchored to the socket embedding crank button jacket, which is made of a much softer material than the other crank button parts and has a hardness of max. 50 Shore A.
- a crank knob designed in accordance with the invention fully complies with the EEC legislation in that it has a relatively soft jacket and an inner core which can be designed with soft radii.
- the inner crank button parts made of relatively hard material can now be designed with a low height, while the crank button jacket made of soft material can have a large-volume design, so that the crank button can be gripped and actuated comfortably. Because because the crank button jacket has a hardness of max. 50 Shore A, the regulations on the distance to be observed between the crank button and the mounting surface apply only to the inner rigid crank button components.
- connection of the crank button jacket to the inner sleeve can be achieved by anchoring the crank button jacket to the sleeve and the cap by extrusion coating.
- the rotatability of the crank button casing with bushing on the crank pin is fully preserved by the attached cap; because the trigger lock is protected by the cap against over-splashing.
- the bush has on its outer lateral surface in an annular arrangement radially outwardly directed webs which are completely embedded in the spherical button jacket.
- the webs create a clawing of the jacket material with the socket.
- the webs can serve as a stop for the cap that is plugged onto the socket, in that the open end of the cap is supported against the webs.
- the crank button is made exclusively of plastic.
- the bushing and cap can be made of PP (polypropylene), the trigger lock made of POM (polyacetal) and the crank button casing PVC (polyvinyl chloride) with a hardness of 50 Shore A.
- the crank knob according to the invention has a four-part structure, the three-part core can be preassembled quickly and easily by simply plugging it together and the jacket can be formed inexpensively by extrusion coating with a good surface finish. It is also quick and easy to assemble by plug-in assembly, has a permanently functional trigger lock and is exposed to only negligible abrasion wear due to the radial fixing of the trigger lock.
- the crank knob thus optimally fulfills the EEC legislation.
- the crank button consists of a bushing 1, a trigger lock 2, a cap 3 and a crank button jacket 4.
- the bushing opening 5 is designed in diameter for receiving a crank pin.
- the bush has on its outer jacket in an annular arrangement molded webs 6, which have a hook-shaped design and serve once for clawing in the crank button jacket 4 and once as a stop for the open end of the cap 3.
- the trigger lock 2 has a flange 9 which is supported on the upper end face of the bush 1 and on the underside of which spring arms 7 are formed, the free ends of which have locking cams 8. By the spring arms 7 formed with locking cams 8, the crank button on the crank pin is secured against being pulled off.
- the opening provided in the crank pin (not shown), which interacts with the spring arms 7, is expediently square and the spring arms 7 are adapted to this design.
- the spring arms 7 not only secure the trigger, but also secure the trigger lock 2 against rotation. This means that when the crank knob is installed, only parts 1, 3 and 4 can rotate around the crank pin, while the trigger lock 2 cannot rotate. Abrasion wear is largely avoided.
- the flange 9 of the trigger lock 2 has on the outside a centrally formed conical cam 10 which is supported on the bottom of the cap 3.
- the bottom 3 can have a concave indentation in which the cam 10 engages for perfect centering.
- the crank button has a four-part structure as can be seen in the drawing, the three-part core being joined by plugging, after which the crank button jacket 4 is formed by extrusion-coating the three-part core with a relatively soft plastic material.

Description
50 Shore A aufweist.
- Fig. einen Vertikal-Schnitt und
- Fig. 2 eine Draufsicht nach Fig. 1 darstellt.
