Definitions

  • the invention relates to fire protection cladding for steel construction parts such as steel beams, steel supports or the like, as defined in the preamble of claim 1.
  • the steel supports to be protected are provided with a covering made of combustible or flame-retardant material with low thermal conductivity.
  • the fire protection effect of such cladding is such.
  • a fire protection cladding of the type mentioned is known from GB-A-983 409.
  • This fire protection cladding intended for a steel support has a shell in the form of a double jacket, which is constructed from a plurality of plates with a U-shaped or L-shaped cross-section made of incombustible material.
  • the strip-shaped cladding parts attached to the steel support at locations distributed over its longitudinal extent serve as spacers between the steel support and the casing.
  • the invention solves the problem of specifying fire protection cladding for steel construction parts in which the occurrence of cracks in the event of fire is permitted, but the cladding is designed so that the fire protection effect of the cladding despite such Cracks remain.
  • the advantage achieved by the invention is that the different expansion of the steel construction part and the fire protection cladding is compensated for by the fact that at predetermined locations of the cladding in a controlled manner at most only very small cracks occur, deposits being provided at these locations, so that an overall ineffectiveness of fire protection cannot occur.
  • FIGS. 2 and 3 show partial representations of the sections 11-11 and 111-111 in planes parallel to the girder longitudinal extension.
  • Fire protection panels are used to build up the fire protection cladding, some with surface coatings made of sodium kraft paper, which are produced by hot pressing glued expanded mica granulate.
  • the steel girder 1 which is to be provided with the fire protection cladding, serves to support a ceiling construction indicated with 2.
  • cladding parts in the form of panel blanks 3 or 4 made of the fire protection panel material are now glued into the cheeks of the carrier 1 or glued to the bottom of the carrier bottom flange along the carrier 1 - at intervals of 60 cm from center to center (see Figures 2 and 3).
  • the actual covering of the cladding also consists of blanks of the fire protection plates mentioned, namely from the side plates 5, to which, on the side facing the carrier 1, clips 6 made of the same material are attached by means of clips 6, and a base plate 8 1 facing surfaces of the side plates 5 and the base plate 8 are periodically at intervals of 60 cm perpendicular to the longitudinal extension saw cuts 9 and 10 (see Figures 2 and 3) with a depth of attached about half the plate thickness.
  • the side plates 5 with their mounting strips 7 are then placed on the lower flange of the carrier 1, the saw cuts 9 each coming to lie in the middle of the panel blanks 3 glued into the cheeks of the carrier 1 and only one at each Side of the incision 9 are fastened by means of the clips 11 (see Fig. 2).
  • the base plate 8 is brought into place, the saw cuts 10 of which coincide with the centers of the plate blanks 4 glued onto the lower beam.
  • the connection of the base plate 8 with these plate blanks 4 now also takes place only on one side of the saw cut 10 by means of the clips 12 (see FIG. 3).
  • the side plates 5 and the base plate 8 are now also connected to one another by clips 13 to form the finished shell.
  • the predetermined breaking points formed by the saw cuts 9 and 10 are now distributed at a distance of 60 cm from one another over the entire longitudinal extent of the fire protection cladding.
  • the expected effect was shown, namely that, owing to the different thermal expansion between the carrier 1 and its fire protection cladding, the envelope formed by the side plates 5 or base plate 8 tears at the predetermined breaking points mentioned, and gaps of a few millimeters in width thereby to open.
  • these gaps are deposited by the panel blanks 3 and 4, as a result of which the flow of the hot fire gases towards the surface of the carrier 1 is largely avoided and the fire protection cladding does not fall apart despite the occurrence of these cracks, but its protective effect as a whole is retained.
