Abstract

A sweetener product for foodstuff use in granulate form which comprises sucrose and at least one powerful sweetener containing 1-50% of at least one powerful sweetener, with the volume weight being 0.4-0.7 g/cm3, preferably 0.45-0.55 g/cm3, and the mean particle size being 150-500 nm, preferably approx. 200 nm. The product is prepared from sucrose particles having a mean diameter of 150-500 nm, which particles are themselves prepared by granulating fine-crystalline sucrose, and subsequently admixing the powerful sweetener (for example aspartame) and, where appropriate, a supplementary excipient. The sweetener product is stable during storage and convenient to handle and easy to dose, and it has a very high sweetening ability as compared with the low energy content. The product can be added to many different types of foodstuffs, including those which are in powder form.
