Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain granular sodium benzoate useful as an antiseptic for foods and tobacco, a drug or organic synthetic chemical industry readily and economically while preventing dusting and dust explosion, by efficiently granulating sodium benzoate containing a specific amount of water. CONSTITUTION:Sodium benzoate having 20-30wt.% water content is prepared by adding water, blended by a kneader and granulated to give granular sodium benzoate which hardly contains ungranulated part, has smooth surface and uniform size of granules, excellent fluidity and is useful as a synthetic raw material for an antiseptic for foods such as caviar, refreshing drink or soy sauce and tobacco, for antipyretic, drug for cystitis or tonsillitis and for benzoyl peroxide in organic synthetic chemical industry. Operation environment and safety in handling of sodium benzoate can be extremely improved.
