ίο " Magneto-optisches Aufzeichnungsmaterial "
Die Erfindung betrifft ein ntagneto-optisches Aufzeichnungsmaterial
mit einer vertikal magnetisch-anisotropen magnetischen Filmschicht, die ein ferrimagnetisches Oxid enthält,
welches nicht oxidativ angegriffen wird und die Aufzeichnung von Informationen und Daten sowie deren Reproduktion
mit Hilfe von Laserstrahlen ermöglicht.
Es sind bereits magneto-optische-AufZeichnungsmaterialien
zum Aufzeichnen und Reproduzieren von Informationen mit Hilfe von Laser-Strahlen bekannt, die magnetische amorphe
Legierungsfilme aus Legierungen von übergangsmetallen, wie
Fe oder Co, und schweren Seltenerdmetallen, wie Tb, Gd oder Dy, aufweisen. In diesen magnetischen amorphen Legierungsfilmen
werden jedoch die Seltenerdmetalle in Gegenwart von Wasser leicht oxidiert, wodurch die magnetischen Eigenschaften
der Legierungsfilme beeinträchtigt werden. Um diesen Mangel zu beheben, ist bereits vorgeschlagen worden,
die magnetischen Legierungsfilme mit einer Schutzschicht
zu schützen, die ein Oxid, wie SiO2, SiO oder TiO2,oder
ein Nitrid, wie TiN oder SiN, enthält. Derartige Schutzschichten müssen frei von Pinholes sein.
Es ist jedoch äußerst schwierig, eine Schutzschicht ohne Pinholes zu erhalten. Außerdem wird beim Aufbringen einer
magnetischen Filmschicht auf einen Schichtträger eine er-
hebliche Sauerstoffmenge, die in der Kammer zur Herstellung des Magnetfilms enthalten ist, an der Grenzfläche
zwischen Schichtträger und magnetischer Filmschicht adsorbiert, wobei der adsorbierte Sauerstoff mit den in dem magnetischen
Film enthaltenen schweren Seltenerdmetallen unter Bildung von Seltenerdmetalloxiden reagiert, welche die
Eigenschaften des Magnetfilms negativ beeinflussen.
Während der Aufzeichnung wird das Aufzeichnungsmaterial längere Zeit erhitzt und auch hierdurch werden die magnetischen
Eigenschaften des Aufzeichnungsmaterials beeinträchtigt. Aufgrund der genannten Faktoren ist es schwierig
ein magneto-optisches Aufzeichnungsmaterial herzustellen, das eine magnetische Legierungsschicht aus einem Übergangsmetall und einem schweren Seltenerdmetall aufweist und
10 Jahre oder mehr eingesetzt werden kann.
Um eine Oxidation der magnetischen Schicht zu verhindern, ist eine Antioxidationsschicht erforderlich. Diese Maßnahme
ist jedoch bei der Herstellung von Aufzeichnungsmaterialien unpraktisch, da der Schichtaufbau des Aufzeichnungsmaterials
bei Verwendung einer Antioxidationsschicht komplex wird und die Herstellung des Aufzeichnungsmaterials
erschwert.
Bei Verwendung von Kunststoffen als Materialien für den Schichtträger des Aufzeichnungsmaterials muß dafür Sorge
getragen werden, daß keine Feuchtigkeit in den Kunststoff eindringt.
Ein hexagonaler Ferrit vom M-Typ ist bereits hinsichtlich der Verwendbarkeit als Magnetblasenmaterial unter-
sucht worden, da er oxidativ nicht angegriffen wird. Dieses
Material hat jedoch eine hohe Curie-Temperatur von 4500C oder mehr, so daß es als magneto-optisches Aufzeichnungsmaterial
zur Aufzeichnung mit Laserstrahlen nicht geeignet ist.
Ziel der Erfindung ist es daher, ein magneto-optisches Aufzeichnungsmaterial
bereitzustellen, das eine vertikal magnetisch-anisotrope magnetische Filmschicht auf Basis
eines ferrimagnetischen Oxids aufweist, welches nicht oxidiert, nicht korrodiert und in den magnetischen Eigenschaften
nicht beeinträchtigt wird und das zur.Aufzeichnung und Reproduktion von Informationen mit Hilfe von Laserstrahlen
geeignet ist. Ferner soll das Aufzeichnungsmaterial eine ausreichend niedrige Curie-Temperatur und für die Laserstrahl-Aufzeichnung
und -Reproduktion geeignete magnetische Eigenschaften besitzen, z.B. hinsichtlich Ms (Sättigungsmagnetisierung)
und Hc (Induktionskoerzitivkraft).
Gegenstand der Erfindung ist ein magneto-optisches Auf-Zeichnungsmaterial
mit einem transparenten Schichtträger, einer darauf aufgebrachten, vertikal magnetisch-anisotropen
magnetischen Filmschicht, die ein ferrimagnetisches Oxid der Formel:
MeGa Fe1, O1q
X I^-X I»
enthält, wobei Me Ba, Sr oder Pb ist und χ eine Zahl von 3 bis 8 ist, und einer auf die magnetische Filmschicht
aufgebrachten Reflexionsschicht.
Bei den erfindungsgemäß verwendeten ferrimagnetischen Oxiden ist ein Teil der Fe-Atome durch Ga ersetzt, wobei
der Einbau von Ga leicht erfolgt, da dieses fast den
gleichen Ionenradius wie Fe hat. Durch den Einbau von Ga-Atomen
wird vermutlich die Superaustauschwechselwirkung der Fe-Atome in den ferrimagnetischen Oxiden verringert,
wodurch die Curie-Temperatur auf einen für die Aufzeichnung
und Reproduktion mit Hilfe von Laserstrahlen geeigneten Wert abnimmt.
In der oben genannten Formel hat χ vorzugsweise einen Wert
von 4 oder mehr, da dann die Curie-Temperatur 2200C oder
weniger beträgt. Hinsichtlich der magnetischen Eigenschaften des erfindungsgemäßen Aufzeichnungsmaterials liegt
Ms im Bereich von 30 bis 300 EMU/cm3 und Hc im Bereich von 0,5 bis 10 kOe. Diese magnetischen Eigenschaften genügen
den Anforderungen für die Aufzeichnung und Reproduktion mit Hilfe von Laserstrahlen.
In der Zeichnung zeigen:
Fig. 1 einen schematischen Querschnitt durch eine Ausführungsform eines erfindungsgemäßen Aufzeichnungsmaterials;
Fig. 2 ein Diagramm, aus dem die Beziehung zwischen dem Gehalt χ an Ga-Atomen in den erfindungsgemäß ver-
. wendeten ferrimagnetischen Oxiden und deren Curie-Temperatur hervorgeht.
Die in Fig. 1 gezeigte Ausführungsform eines erfindungsgemäßen
Aufzeichnungsmaterials umfaßt einen transparenten Schichtträger 1, eine darauf aufgebrachte magnetische Filmschicht
2 und eine auf die magnetische Filmschicht 2 aufgebrachte Reflexionsschicht 3.
Als Material für den transparenten Schichtträger 1 eignen sich z.B. Quarzglas, Kristallglas, Gallium-Garnet-Gadolinium
(im folgenden GGG) und transparente Keramikstoffe.
Die magnetische Filmschicht 2, die ein ferrimagnetisches
Oxid der Formel: MeGa Fe10_ O10 enthält, wobei Me Ba, Sr
oder Pb und χ eine ganze Zahl von 3 bis 8 ist, hat vorzugsweise eine Dicke von etwa 100 bis 10 000 nm (1000 bis
100 000 A), insbesondere 300 bis 3000 nm (3000 bis 30 000 A) .
Als Materialien für die Reflexionsschicht . 3 eignen sich
z.B. Al, Cr, Cu, Pt, Au und Ag. Die Reflexionsschicht 3 hat vorzugsweise eine Dicke von 50 bis 1000 nm (500 bis
10 000 A). Gegebenenfalls kann auf der Reflexionsschicht
eine Schutzschicht ausgebildet werden, z.B. aus SiO3, SiO,
TiO2, TiN, Si3N4, TaN, CrN, AlN oder Kunststoffen.
Um die magneto-optisehen Eigenschaften der magnetischen
Filmschicht 2 zu verbessern, kann ihr mindestens ein Element aus der Gruppe Bi, Gd, V, Co, Tb, Dy, Y, La, Sm
und/oder Ge zugesetzt werden.
Die magnetische Filmschicht 2 kann auf den transparenten Schichtträger 1 durch Abscheiden des ferrimagnetischen
Oxids mittels Sputtern, Aufdampfen oder Ionenplattierung aufgebracht werden. Gegebenenfalls kann zwischen der magnetischen
Filmschicht 2 und der Reflexionsschicht 3 eine Klebstoffschicht vorgesehen werden.

Um die vertikal magnetisch-aniostropen Eigenschaften der erfindungsgemäß verwendeten ferrimagnetischen Oxide zu
verbessern, kann eine Schicht aus ZnO, 0.-Fe3O2, Gt-Al2O3,
AlN, SiO2, MgO oder MnZn-Ferrit zwischen dem transparenten
Schichtträger und der magnetischen Filmschicht ausgebildet werden.
Die folgenden Beispiele erläutern die Erfindung.
Auf einen GGG-Schichtträger wird SiO3 in einer Schichtdikke
von 100 nm aufgesputtert. Anschließend sputtert man auf
das SiO2~beschichtete Substrat unter Erhöhung der Substrattemperatur
auf 55O0C aus einem Target, das aus BaGa3Fe9O19
besteht, eine magnetische Filmschicht in einer Dicke von 1000 nm auf. Auf dem erhaltenen Magnetfilm wird eine
Reflexionsschicht aus Al in einer Dicke von 500 nm ausgebildet, wobei ein erfindungsgemäßes Aufzeichnungsmaterial
Nr. 1 erhalten wird. Dieses hat folgende Eigenschaften:
Ms = 100 EMU/cm3 , Hc = 4,5 kOe; Tc = 2900C.
An das Aufzeichnungsmaterial Nr. 1 wird ein Magnetfeld
von 10 kOe angelegt, so daß dieses in einer Magnetisierungs richtung vollständig magnetisiert wird. Hierauf legt man
ein Magnetfeld von 0,5 kOe in entgegengesetzter Magnetisierungsrichtung
an das magnetisierte Aufzeichnungsmaterial an, während mit Laserstrahlen mit einer Ausgangsleistung
von 10 mW bestrahlt wird. Hierdurch erfolgt eine Aufzeichnung auf dem Aufzeichnungsmaterial Nr. 1 unter Umkehrung
der anfänglichen Magnetisierungsrichtung.
Das Aufzeichnungsmaterial Nr. 1 wird 7 Tage bei 100°C gelagert,
wobei keine Beeinträchtigung der magnetischen Eigenschaften festgestellt wird.
Zum Vergleich wird ein Vergleichs-Aufzeichnungsmaterial auf dieselbe Weise hergestellt, jedoch ersetzt man die
oben genannte magnetische Filmschicht durch eine Filmschicht aus einer amorphen magnetischen Legierung mit
einer Dicke von 100 nm, die mit Hilfe eines TbQ 24Feo 76~
Targets hergestellt worden ist. Bei diesem Vergleichs-Aufzeichnungsmaterial
wird die magnetische Schicht oxidiert und während der Lagerung kristallisiert sie, so daß
sich ihre magnetischen Eigenschaften wesentlich verschlechtern.

Anmerkung: Q-, = Faraday-Drehungswinkel
Qv = polarer Kerr-Drehungswinkel
Die genannten Daten beziehen sich auf den Teil der magnetischen Filmschicht auf der Seite des
Schichtträgers.
Beispiel 1 wird wiederholt, jedoch verwendet man ein BaGa1-Fe7O1 --Target zur Herstellung eines erfindungsgemäßen
Aufzeichnungsmaterials Nr. 2 mit den folgenden magnetischen Eigenschaften:
Ms = 70 EMü/cm3; Hc = 5,0 kOe; Tc = 2400C.
Mit diesem Aufzeichnungsmaterial werden hinsichtlich des Faraday-Drehungswinkels im Lagerungstest praktisch dieselben
Ergebnisse wie in Beispiel 1 erhalten.
Beispiel 1 wird wiederholt, jedoch verwendet man ein SrGa-FenO -Target zur Herstellung eines erfindungsgemäßen
Aufzeichnungsmaterials Nr. 3 mit den folgenden magnetischen Eigenschaften:
Ms = 60 EMU/cm3; Hc = 6,5 kOe; Tc = 2500C.
Ms = 60 EMU/cm3; Hc = 6,5 kOe; Tc = 2500C.
Mit diesem Aufzeichnungsmaterial werden hinsichtlich des Faraday-Trehungswinkels im Lagerungstest praktisch dieselben
Ergebnisse wie in Beispiel 1 erhalten.
Beispiel 1 wird wiederholt, jedoch verwendet man ein PbGa-FeQO1q-Target zur Herstellung eines erfindungsgemäßen
Aufzeichnungsmaterials Nr. 4 mit den folgenden magnetischen Eigenschaften:
Ms = 50 EMU/cm3; Hc = 4,0 kOe; Tc = 2600C.
Ms = 50 EMU/cm3; Hc = 4,0 kOe; Tc = 2600C.
Mit diesem Aufzeichnungsmaterial werden hinsichtlich des
Faraday-Drehungswinkels im Lagerungstest praktisch dieselben Ergebnisse wie in Beispiel 1 erhalten.
Auf einen Schichtträger aus kristallisertem Glas ("Miraclon" von der N G K-Insulator Co. Ltd.) wird SiO3
in einer Schichtdicke von 100 nm durch Sputtern abgeschieden.
Auf das SiO2-beschichtete Substrat wird ein in der
C-Achse orientierter ZnO-FiIm mit einer Dicke von 100 nm · aufgebracht, worauf man eine vertikal magnetisch-anisotrope
magnetische Filmschicht mit einer Dicke von 1000 nm aus einem Target aus einer gesinterten magnetischen Legierung der Zusammensetzung BaGa3BiFe8O19 auf-
- sputtert, wobei die Substrattemperatur bei 5700C gehalten
wird.
Auf die erhaltene magnetische Filmschicht wird eine Au-Reflexionsschicht
mit einer Dicke von 50 nm aufgebracht, wobei man ein erfindungsgemäßes Aufzeichnungsmaterial
Nr. 5 mit folgenden magnetischen Eigenschaften erhält: Ms = 60 EMU/cm3; Hc = 2,0 kOe; Tc = 2800C.
Ein Magnetfeld von 10 kOe wird an das Aufzeichnungsmateria Nr. 5 angelegt, so daß dieses in einer Magnetisierungsrichtung vollständig magnetisiert wird. Hierauf legt man
ein Magnetfeld von 0,5 kOe mit der entgegengesetzten Magnetisierungsrichtung an das magnetisierte Aufzeichnungsmaterial
an, während mit Laserstrahlen mit einer Ausgangsleistung von 10 mW bestrahlt wird. Hierdurch erfolgt eine
Aufzeichnung auf dem Aufzeichnungsmaterial Nr. 5 unter Umkehrung der anfänglichen Magnetisierungsrichtung.
In dem Lagerungstest von Beispiel 1 wird ein 2e„-Wert von
anfangs 1,5° bzw. 1,2° nach 7-tägiger Lagerung gemessen.
Beispiel 5 wird wiederholt, jedoch verwendet man ein BaGa4BiFe7O1„-Target zur Herstellung eines erfindungsgetnäßen
Aufzeichnungsmaterials Nr. 6 mit den folgenden magnetischen Eigenschaften:
Ms = 30 EMU/cm3; Hc = 3,0 kOe; Tc = 2400C.
Ms = 30 EMU/cm3; Hc = 3,0 kOe; Tc = 2400C.
In dem Lagerungstest von Beispiel 1 wird ein 2Θ -Wert von anfangs 1,3° bzw. 1,2° nach 7-tägiger Lagerung gemessen.
Beispiel 5 wird wiederholt, jedoch ersetzt man die SiOj-Beschichtung des kristallisierten Glases durch AlN
und verwendet ein BaGa3CoBiFe7O1--Target zur Herstellung
eines erfindungsgemäßen Aufzeichnungsmaterials Nr. 7 mit den folgenden magnetischen Eigenschaften:
Ms = 80 EMU/cm3; Hc = 2,5 kOe; Tc = 2900C.
In dem Lagerungstest von Beispiel 1 wird ein 2ep-Wert von
anfangs 1,6° bzw. 1,4° nach 7-tägiger Lagerung gemessen.

Die erfindungsgemäßen magneto-optisehen Aufzeichnungsmaterialien sind somit oxidationsbeständiger und stabiler
und weisen weit bessere magnetische Eigenschaften auf als herkömmliche magneto-optische Aufzeichnungsmaterialien.
Claims (6)
- PatentansprücheMagneto-optisches Aufzeichnungsmaterial, gekennzeichnet durch einen transparenten Schichtträger, eine darauf aufgebrachte, vertikal magnetisch-anisotrope, magnetische Filmschicht, die ein ferrimagnetisch.es Oxid der Formel:enthält, wobei Me Ba, Sr oder Pb ist und χ eine ganze Zahl von 3 bis 8 ist, und eine auf die magnetische Filmschicht aufgebrachte Reflexionsschicht.
- 2. Aufzeichnungsmaterial nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Reflexionsschicht Al, Cr, Cu, Ag, Pt und/oder Au enthält.
- 3. Aufzeichnungsmaterial nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß es auf der Reflexionsschicht eine Schutzschicht aufweist, die SiO3, SiO, TiO_, TiN, Si3N4 TaN, CrN, AlN und/oder Kunststoff umfaßt.
- 4. Aufzeichnungsmaterial nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis3, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die magnetische Filmschicht außerdem Bi, Gd, Tb, Dy, Y, La, Co, Snf, V und /oder Ge enthält.
- 5. Aufzeichnungsmaterial nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis4, daß der Schichtträger aus Quarzglas, Kristallglas und/oder transparenten Keramikstoffen besteht.
- 6. Aufzeichnungsmaterial nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis5, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die magnetische Filmschicht eine Dicke von etwa 100 bis 10 000 nm hat.Aufzeichnungsmaterial nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 6/ dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Reflexionsschicht eine Dicke von etwa 50 bis 1000 nm hat.
