- Lagerstabile Cellulosenitrat-Dispersionen
- Die Erfindung betrifft wäßrige Cellulosenitrat-Dispersionen, ein Verfahren zu ihrer Herstellung und ihre Verwendung zur Herstellung von Uberzügen, insbesondere auf Folien.
- Wäßrige Uberzugsmittel gewinnen ständig an Bedeutung.
- Steigende Preise für Lackrohstoffe zwingen dazu, an organischen Lösungsmitteln zu sparen, d.h. sie möglichst nur dort einzusetzen, wo sie ohne größeren Verlust zurückgewonnen werden können. Einen Schritt in diese Richtung stellen wäßrige Dispersionen dar, bei denen ein polymerer Lackrohstoff z.B. Celluloseester in einem organischen Lösungsmittel gelöst wird, anschließend mit einer wäßrigen Emulgatorlösung dispergiert und das Lösungsmittel wieder abdestilliert wird. Nach diesem Verfahren hergestellte wäßrige Dispersionen z.B. von Mischungen von Cellulosenitrat und Alkydharz werden in der DE-AS 1 286 672 und der DE-OS 28 53 578 sowie in den DE-OS 31 00 576 und 31 09 580 beschrieben.
- Diese wäßrigen Cellulosenitrat-Dispersionen haben sich in der Praxis bewährt, insbesondere dort, wo schnelle Trocknung der Lacke und geringe Thermoplastizität gefordert werden (damit lackierte Formkörper sofort gestapelt und später verpreßt werden können). Dieses ist in ausgeprägtem Maß bei der Dekorfolienlackierung der Fall.
- Dekorfolien sind imprägnierte Edelcellulosepapiere, die auf der Außenseite mit hochwertigen Maserdrucken (Furnierimitationen) bedruckt sind. Die bedruckte Außenseite wird lackiert, getrocknet und die fertige Dekorfolie aufgerollt und so aufbewahrt. Ist die Trocknung unvollständig oder wird Lösungsmittel festgehalten, dann kleben die lackierten Schichten zusammen und die Dekorfolienrolle wird unbrauchbar.
- Dekorfolien werden hauptsächlich zur Möbelherstellung verwendet, anstelle von Furnier oder in Ergänzung zum Furnier z.B. wie Furniere auf Spanplatten, Hartfaserplatten oder anderen Trägermaterialien verleimt, verpreßt oder kaschiert. So werden Dekorfolien z.B. bei 3 bis 4 bar und 100 bis 1500C verpreßt. Dabei darf der Lackfilm nicht an der Preßplatte oder Preßmatrize der Presse ankleben, muß also große "Blockfestigkeit" und keine Thermoplastizität haben.
- Blockfestigkeit ist dann gegeben, wenn ein Lackfilm auf einer heißen Metallplatte weder auf dieser anklebt, noch eine Glanzänderung erfährt. Man kann den Bereich der Blockfestigkeit messen (bestimmen) durch Messung des Pressklebepunktes, indem man den Lackfilm auf eine mit einem Wärmegradienten versehene erwärmte Metallplatte preßt und die Temperature registriert, bei der eine Glanzänderung oder gar ein Ankleben des Films auf der Metallplatte stattfindet.
- Zur Lackierung von Dekor folien sind besonders geeignet die in DE-OS 31 09 518 beschriebenen Cellulosenitrat/ Weichmacher-Dispersionen, die als Emulgator teilverseiftes Polyvinylacetat enthalten. Man erreicht bequem Preßklebepunkte von mehr als 1300 bei Glanzgraden (Gardner) von 40 - 42 % im 200-Winkel. Um die Glanzgrade weiter zu erhöhen, benötigt man entweder mehr organische Lösungsmittel oder ein anderes Emulgatorsystem.
- Die Wahl des Emulgators hängt vom Verwendungszweck ab.
- Dekorfolienlacke erfordern ein Emulgatorsystem, das gleichmäßige und möglichst kleine Teilchen in der Cellulosenitrat/Weichmacher-Dispersion (für guten Glanz erforderlich) und ausreichende Lagerstabilität ergibt. Der fertige Film muß möglichst hohe Blockfestigkeit haben, darf aber die Zwischenhaftung zu jedem anderen (bei der Möbellackierung üblichen und oft nachträglich aufgebrachten, z.B. auch konventionell gelösten) Lack nicht beeinträchtigen.
- ähnliches gilt auch für die Lackierung von Aluminiumfolien.
- Es wurde gefunden, daß man wäßrige Cellulosenitrat/Weichmacher-Dispersionen erhält, die gute Lagerstabilität aufweisen, blockfeste Filme ergeben und mit jedem konventionell gelösten Lack überlackierbar sind, wenn man zu ihrer Herstellung anionenaktive Emulgatoren verwendet, die ihrerseits Carboxylate, Sulfate, Sulfonate, Phosphate, Phosphite und Phosphonate von nicht-ionogenen oberflächenaktiven Alkyl-, Aryl-, Alkarylpolyglykolethern, acylierten bzw. alkylierten Alkanolaminpolyglykolethern oder Copolymerisaten aus Ethylenoxid und/oder Propylenoxid darstellen.
- Gegenstand der Erfindung sind also wäßrige Dispersionen aus A 5 - 45 Gew.-Teilen Cellulosenitrat B 0 - 25 Gew.-Teilen Polyester und/oder Alkydharzen C 0,5 - 15 Gew.-Teilen Weichmacher D 0,5 - 15 Gew.-Teilen Emulgator E 30 -300 Gew.-Teilen Wasser, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß als anionenaktive Emulgatoren Carboxylate, Sulfate, Sulfonate, Phosphate, Phosphite und Phosphonate von nicht-ionogenen oberflächenaktiven Alkyl-, Aryl-, Alkarylpolyglykolethern, acylierten bzw.
- alkylierten Alkanolaminpolyglykolethern oder Copolymerisaten aus Ethylenoxid oder Propylenoxid verwendet werden.
- Ein weiterer Gegenstand der Erfindung ist die Verwendung dieser wäßrigen Dispersionen zur Herstellung von schnell trocknenden Überzügen, insbesondere auf Papier-, Metall-und Kunststoff-Folien.
- Besonders bevorzugte Emulgatoren sind die Sulfonobernsteinsäurederivate von ethoxylierten Nonylphenolen, insbesondere die Dinatriumsalze der Sulfonobernsteinsäurederivate.
- Die erfindungsgemäßen Emulgatoren können nach literaturbekannten Verfahren durch Uberführung der nicht-ionogenen Tenside in anionenaktive Emulgatoren hergestellt werden (vgl. Dr. K. Lindner, Tenside, Textilhilfsmittel, Waschrohstoffe, Wissenschaftl. Verlagsgesellschaft, Stuttgart 1964). Beispielsweise können die nicht-ionogenen Tenside durch Umsetzung mit -Halogencarbonsäuren in Carboxylate, mit Schwefelsäure oder Chlorsulfonsäure in Sulfate, mit Phosphoroxiden, Phosphorhalogeniden oder Phosphorsäure in Phosphate und Phosphite, ferner durch Umsetzung mit Epichlorhydrin und anschließender Reaktion mit Natriumhydrogensulfit oder durch Umsetzung mit Sultonen oder durch Umsetzung mit Isethionsäure oder Chlorethansulfonsäure oder durch Umsetzung mit Maleinsäureanhydrid und anschließende Natriumhydrogensulfitaddition in Sulfonate und schließlich durch Umsetzung mit Phosphonocarbonsäuren in Phosphonate überführt werden.
- Als nicht-ionogene Tenside können verwendet werden: Alkyl-, Acyl-, Aryl-, Alkylarylpolyglykolether sowie Acylamido- und Alkylaminopolyglykolether, die 10 - 20 C-Atome im Alkyl-, Acyl-, Aryl- oder Alkylarylrest aufweisen und die durch bekannte Alkoxylierung von üblichen Alkanolen, Carbonsäureamiden oder Alkylaminen, Carbonsäuren, Phenolen oder Alkylphenolen, Carbonsäureamiden oder Alkylaminen, mit Ethylenoxid und/oder Propylenoxid hergestellt werden können.
- Weitere geeignete nicht-ionogene Tenside stellen Copolymerisate aus Ethylen- und Propylenoxid dar. Sie sind Block-, Misch- oder Mischblockcopolymerisate, die auch durch Alkoxylierung niedriger C1-C6-Alkohole entstehen.
- Die erfindungsgemäßen Emulgatoren D sind also Carboxylate, Sulfonate, Sulfate, Phosphate, Phosphite und Phosponate, die durch an sich bekannte Umsetzungen aus nicht-ionogenen Tensiden wie Alkyl-, Aryl-, Alkaryl-, Acyl-, polyglykolethern, acylierten bzw. alkylierten Alkanolaminpolyglykolethern oder Copolymerisaten aus Ethylenoxid und/oder Propylenoxid hergestellt worden sind.
- Als Cellulosenitrate A kommen alle Nitrocellulose-Typen in Frage. Bevorzugte Nitrocellulosen sind die üblichen Collodiumwollqualitäten, d .h. Cellulosesalpetersäureester mit einem Stickstoffgehalt von 10,2 bis 12,4 Gew.-8.
- Dabei ist es für die Erfindung nicht wesentlich, ob es sich bei der verwendeten Collodiumwolle um eine Butanol-, Isopropanol-, Ethanol-, Methanol- oder wasser- feuchte Form handelt oder ob celluloidartige Massen (allgem. Chips genannt), also mit gelatinierenden Weichmachern versetzte Typen, verwandt werden.
- Bevorzugte Nitrocellulose-Weichmacher sind insbesondere Phthalsäure- und Adipinsäureester von Alkoholen mit 4 bis 8 Kohlenstoffatomen, z.B. Dibutylphthalat, Diisobutylcarbinylphthalat, Dicyclohexylphthalat, Dioctylphthalat, Dibutylphthalat, Dioctyladipat, Phosphorsäureester von Alkoholen mit 6 bis 10 Kohlenstoffatomen, z.B. Trikresylphosphat, Triphenylphosphat, Trioctylphosphat, Kresylphenylphosphat, Dioctylphenylphosphat aber auch Diethylenglykolmonolaurat, Dipentaerythritexapropionat, 2-Methoxiethylacetyl-tributylaconitat, Butoxi-ethyldiglykol-carbonat, Acetyltributylcitrat, Triethylenglykol-pelargonat, Butyldiglykolcarbonat, Polyethylenglykol-di-2-ethyl-hexoat, Triethylenglykoldi-2-ethylbutyrat, Tributylcarballylat, Dibutylsebacat und Benzolsulfonsäure-N-methylamid.
- Unter "Alkydharzen" werden in dieser Anmeldung fettsäure- und ölmodifizierte Polyester verstanden.
- Unter Alkydharzen und Polyester B versteht man durch Polykondensation nach bekannten Verfahren aus Alkoholen und Carbonsäuren hergestellte Polykondensate der Art, wie sie z.B. in Römpp's Chemielexikon, Band 1, S. 202, Franckh'sche Verlagsbuchhandlung, Stuttgart 1966, definiert oder in Ullmanns Enzyklopädie der Technischen Chemie und in D.H. Solomon, The Chemistry of Organic Filmformers. S. 75 - 101, Robert E. Krieger Pub. Co., New York 1977, beschrieben sind.
- Für die Synthese der Polyester bzw. Alkylharze B bevorzugte Alkohole sind aliphatische, cycloaliphatische und/oder araliphatische Alkohole mit 1 - 15, vorzugsweise 2 - 6 C-Atomen, und 1 - 6, vorzugsweise 1 - 4, an nicht-aromatische C-Atome gebundenen OH-Gruppen pro Molekül, z.B. Glykole wie Ethylenglykol, Propandiol-1,2 und -1,3, Butandiol-1,2, -1,3 und -1,4, 2-Ethylpropandiol-1,3, 2-Ethylhexandiol-1,3, Neopentylglykol, Hexandiol-1,6, Cyclohexandiol-1,2 und -1,4, 1,2- und 1,4-Bis-(hydroximethyl)-cyclohexan, Adipinsäure-bis-(ethylenglykolester); Etheralkohole wie Di- und Triethylenglykol, Dipropylenglykol; oxethylierte und perhydrierte Bisphenole; Butantriol-1,2,4, Hexantriol-1,2,6, Trimethylolethan, Trimethylolpropan, Glycerin, Pentaerythrit, Dipentaerythrit, Mannitol und Sorbitol; kettenabbrechende einwertige Alkohole mit 1 bis 8 Kohlenstoffatomen wie Propanol, Butanol, Cyclohexanol und Benzylalkohol. Die gebräuchlichsten Alkohole sind Glycerin, Trimethylolpropan, Neopentylglykol und Pentaerythrit.
- Für die Synthese der Polyester bzw. Alkydharze B bevorzugte Säurekomponenten sind aliphatische, cycloaliphatische gesättigte oder ungesättigte und/oder aromatische mehrbasische Carbonsäuren, vorzugsweise Di-, Tri- und Tetracarbonsäuren mit 2 bis 14, vorzugsweise 4 bis 12 C-Atomen pro Molekül oder deren veresterungsfähige Derivate (z.B. Anhydride oder Ester), z.B.
- Phthalsäureanhydrid, Isophthalsäure, Terephthalsäure, Tetrahydro- und Hexahydrophthalsäureanhydrid, Endomethylentetrahydrophthalsäure, Bernsteinsäure, Adipinsäure, Sebacinsäure, Trimellithsäure und Trimellithsäureanhydrid, Pyromellithsäureanhydrid und Maleinsäure. Phthalsäureanhydrid ist die gebräuchlichste Säurekomponente.
- Für die Herstellung der Polyester bzw. Alkydharze B bevorzugte Monocarbonsäuren sind aliphatische, cycloaliphatische gesättigte und ungesättigte und/oder aromatische Monocarbonsäuren mit 3 - 24 C-Atomen pro Molekül wie Benzoesäure, p-tert.-Butylbenzoesäure, Tolylsäure, Hexahydrobenzoesäure, Abietinsäure und Milchsäure.
- In den für die erfindungsgemäßen Dispersionen eingesetzten Alkydharzen B beträgt die öllänge, berechnet als Triglycerid und bezogen auf das Alkydharz, in der Regel 5 bis 50, vorzugsweise 20 bis 40 Gew.-%. Die trocknenden oder nicht-trocknenden Fettsäuren, die im allgemeinen 6 bis 24 C-Atome enthalten, können entweder als solche oder in Form ihrer Glycerinester (Triglyceride) eingesetzt werden.
- Als bevorzugt sind pflanzliche und tierische Oele, Fette oder Fettsäuren zu nennen, wie z.B. Kokos-, Erdnuß-, Ricinus-, Holz-, Oliven-, Sojabohnen-, Lein-, Baumwollsaatöl, Saffloröl oder -ölfettsäuren, dehydratisiertes Ricinusöl bzw. -fettsäure, einfach ungesättigte Fettsäuren, Schmalz, Talg und Trane, Tallölfettsäure sowie synthetische Fettsäuren, die durch Konjugierung oder Isomerisierung aus natürlichen ungesättigten ölen oder Fettsäuren hergestellt sein können. Bevorzugte gesättigte Fettsäuren sind z.B. Kokosölfettsäuren und X-Ethylenhexansäure und Isononansäure (3,4, 4-Trimethylhexansäure) sowie Palmitin- und Stearinsäure und synthetische gesättigte verzweigte Fettsäuren.
- Das als Zahlenmittel bestimmte Molekulargewicht der Polyester bzw. Alkydharze B beträgt 2000 - 10.000 (bis zu Molekulargewichten von 5000 dampfdruckosmometrisch bestimmt in Dioxan und Aceton, wobei bei differierenden Werten der niedrigere Wert als korrekt angesehen wird; bei Molekulargewichten über 5.000 membranosmometrisch bestimmt in Aceton).
- Die Polyester bzw. Alkydharze B können nach bekannten Methoden durch Polykondensation hergestellt werden. Im allgemeinen werden die Ausgangsprodukte bei Temperaturen von 140 - 2500C in einer Intergasatmosphäre, z.B.
- unter Stickstoff, unter Wasserabspaltung so lange polykondensiert, bis die gewünschte Säurezahl erreicht ist.
- Die Polyester bzw. Alkydharze B werden vorzugsweise in nicht-neutralisierter Form eingesetzt.
- Die wäßrigen Dispersionen können hergestellt werden, indem man Cellulosenitrat, Weichmacher und/oder das Alkydharz in einem leichtsiedenden Lösungsmittel löst, den Emulgator oder die Emulgatormischung zusetzt, diese Lösung oder bei Verwendung von wasserhaltigem Cellulosenitrat, diese Suspension mit Wasser unter starker hohen Scherung vermischt und das Lösungsmittel wieder entfernt.
- Es resultieren dann lösungsmittelfreie Suspensionen, denen man je nach Verwendungszweck verschiedene Lösungsmittel oder Lösungsmittelgemische in erforderlichen Mengen zusetzt. Die Lösungsmittel werden zweckmäßig mit Wasser vermischt zugegeben. Bei der Zugabe dieser Mischung können auch weitere Hilfsmittel für die Filmbildung eingebracht werden, wie z.B. weitere Weichmacher, Verdickungsmittel und Emulgatoren.
- Beispiel 1: 115,4 g Nitrocellulose-Wolle 65 %ig wasserfeucht mit einem Gehalt von ca. 12 % Stickstoff (Norm 24 E nach DIN 53 179) 25 g Dioctylphthalat 20,8 g eines Emulgators aus der Umsetzung von Nonylphenol mit 50 Ethylenoxideinheiten mit Maleinsäureanhydrid und Natriumhydrogensulfit werden mit 245,8 g Ethylacetat unter Rühren homogenisiert.
- Anschließend gibt man in einem Becherglas unter intensivem Dispergieren durch einen Ultra-Turrax-(Typ 45)-Labordispergator 126,3 g in einem Guß Wasser hinzu und dispergiert ca.
- 5 Min. lang, indem man die Umdickungsgeschwindigkeit stufenlos bis auf 10.000 U/Min. steigert. Anschließend wird das Lösungsmittel unter vermindertem Druck abdestilliert. Es resultierte eine wäßrige Dispersion mit einem Festkörpergehalt von ca. 41,5 - 43 %.
- Anwendungsbeispiel 1: 60 g der nach Beispiel 1 hergestellten wäßrigen Dispersion werden in einem Becherglas vorgelegt und bei 2.000 - 3.000 U/Min. mit einem Laborrührer gerührt.
- Dann gibt man schnell eine Mischung aus 15 g einer Mischung aus je 20 Gew.-% Methylglykol, Ethylglykol, Methylglykolacetat, Ethylglykolacetat, Diacetonalkohol, 20 g Wasser und 5 g 3-Methoxybutylacetat hinzu.
- Die resultierende Lackdispersion wird mit 10 - 12 g/m2 auf eine schwarz/weiße Prüfkarte (Typ 24/5 zur Bestimmung des Deckvermögens der Fa. Erichsen) aufgezogen und 3 Minuten bei 1300C getrocknet. Anschließend wird der Glanz mit einem Glanzgerät nach Gardner im 200-Winkel und der Preßklebepunkt bestimmt.
- Beispiel 2: (Vergleich) Es wurde eine Dispersion nach Beispiel 1 hergestellt, aber als Emulgator 4,5 g Polyvinylalkohol (Molekulargewicht 40.000 Hydrolysegrad 86-89 %) gelöst in 100 g Wasser verwendet.
- Dabei resultiert eine Dispersion mit einem Festkörpergehalt von 41,8 %.
- Anwendungsbeispiel 2: Es wurde verfahren wie im Anwendungsbeispiel 1 und der Glanz des Lackes auf einer Prüfkarte im 200-Winkel nach Gardner bestimmt.

Claims (3)
- Patentansprüche: 1. Wäßrige Dispersionen aus a) 5 - 45 Gew.-Teilen Cellulosenitrat b) O - 25 Gew. -Teilen Polyester und/oder Alkydharzen c) 0,5 - 15 Gew.-Teilen Weichmacher d) 0,5 - 15 Gew.-Teilen Emulgator e) 30 - 300 Gew.-Teilen Wasser, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß als anionenaktive Emulgatoren Carboxylate, Sulfate, Sulfonate, Phosphate, Phosphite oder Phosphonate von nicht-ionogenen oberflächenaktiven Alkyl-, Aryl-, Alkarylglykolethern, acylierten bzw. alkylierten Alkanolaminpolyglykolethern oder Copolymerisaten aus Ethylenoxid und/oder Propylenoxid verwendet werden.
- 2. Verfahren zur Herstellung wäßriger Dispersionen gemäß Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man Cellulosenitrat-Weichmacher und Polyester bzw.Alkydharz in einem leicht siedenden Lösungsmittel löst, den Emulgator zusetzt, die Suspension mit Wasser unter starker Scherung vermischt und das Lösungsmittel entfernt.
- 3. Verwendung der wäßrigen Dispersionen gemäß Anspruch 1 zur Herstellung von schnell trocknenden Uberzügen, insbesondere auf Papier-, Metall- und Kunststoff-Folien.
