Die vorliegende Erfindung bezieht sich auf Schmierfette, insbesondere auf homogene Schmierfette mit verbesserter mechanischer
und chemischer Beständigkeit.
Bisher wurden Schmierfette im allgemeinen aus einem Grundschmieröl
oder öligen Grundbestandteil und einem Verdickungsmittel,
welches dem Fett die gewünschte Konsistenz verleiht, hergestellt. Als Verdickungsmittel wurden meistens Seifen
von Fettsäuren oder anorganische Komponenten, wie kolloidales Siliziumoxyd, Bentonit usw., verwendet.
Die bekannten Schmierfette sind Gele, wobei das Verdickungsmittel ein Netz bildet, welches das öl aufnimmt. Bei der
Herstellung homogener und beständiger Gele stößt man jedoch aufgrund verschiedener Faktoren, wie z.B. der Art des
Verdickungsmittels, der Art des Grundöls, der jeweiligen Menge dieser Komponenten, des Herstellungsverfahrens für
das Schmierfett usw., auf Schwierigkeiten. Der Einfluß dieser verschiedenen Faktoren ist noch weitgehend unbekannt.
Das Einbringen von Polymerisaten in die Schmierfette zur Verbesserung einiger ihrer Eigenschaften führt deshalb zu
neuen Schwierigkeiten. So hat man zum Beispiel die Verwendung einiger, Olefinpolymerisate, nämlich Polyäthylen, insbesondere
Polyäthylen mit einer Dichte von mehr als 0,94 g/ccm bei 250C und Mischpolymerisate von Äthylen und Propylen,
als Verdickungsmittel vorgeschlagen. Es wurde jedoch gefunden, daß diese Polymerisate langsam oxydieren und kristallisieren,
wenn die Schmierfette Reibungsbeanspruchungen ausgesetzt sind. Es wurden auch oxydierte Polyäthylene (mit 0,2 bis 7,5 Gew.-^
an chemisch gebundenem Sauerstoff), insbesondere Komplexe dieser oxydierten Polyäthylene mit einem Metallsalz mit
einer Wertigkeit von mehr als 2, vorgeschlagen. Derartige Komplexe enthaltende Schmierfette sind teuer und haben außerdem
keine zufriedenstellenden Schmiereigenschaften. Schmierfette,
die Äthylenpolymerisate enthalten, sind im allgemeinen

nicht beständig genug und brechen leicht unter mechanischer Beanspruchung, wobei sich ein zu fließbares Produkt bildet
(siehe U.S.-Patentschrift 3 112 270).
Das Einbringen von Polymerisaten in die Schmierfette bedeutet eine veitere Maßnahme,welche sich auf einige Eigenschaften der
Fette auswirkt.
Aufgabe der vorliegenden Erfindung ist die Schaffung von neuen Schmierfetten mit verbesserten Schmier- und Antiverschleißeigenschaften
sowie mit verbesserten Eigenschaften hinsichtlich der Lagerbeständigkeit, der chemischen und
mechanischen Beständigkeit.
Eine weitere Aufgabe der vorliegenden Erfindung ist die Schaffung von homogenen und konsistenten Schmierfetten.
Die erfindungsgemäßen Schmierfette umfassen, bezogen auf dessen Gewicht:
etwa 5 bis 25 Gew.-56 Verdickungsseife,
etwa 1 bis 10 Gew.-# einer anionischen Emulsion von nicht
oxydiertem Polyäthylen mit einem mittleren Molekulargewicht von mehr als 10 000,
wobei diese Emulsion etwa 35 bis 60 % an Polyäthylen und etwa 8 bis 12 56 an
anionischem Emulgierungsmittel, bezogen
auf das Gewicht der Emulsion, enthält und die mittlere Größe der Polyäthylenteilchen
zwischen etwa 0,02 und 0,5 Mikron liegt,
und als Rest der Zusammensetzung einen ölartigen Grundbestandteil*
mit den üblichen Zusatzmitteln für Schmierfette.
Es wurde überraschenderweise gefunden, daß Schmierfette, welche
die oben angegebenen Polyäthylenemulsionen enthalten, eine bemerkenswerte Konsistenz besitzen und unter mechanischen
Beanspruchungen besonders beständig sind.

Derartige Polyäthylenemulsionen können nach den in den U.S.Schriften
3 296 162 und 3 352 807 beschriebenen Verfahren hergestellt werden. Diese Emulsionen werden durch die Polymerisation
von Äthylen auf der Basis von freien Radikalen in einem wässrigen Medium, das eine Mischung von anionischen Emulgierungsmitteln
enthält, hergestellt. Die Polymerisation des Äthylens in wässriger Emulsion wird vorzugsweise in Anwesenheit
von emulgierenden Salzen von gesättigten Fettsäuren, Salzen von Sulfaten von Fettalkoholen mit etwa 12-18 Kohlenstoffatomen
und Salzen von Sulfaten von äthoxylierten gesättigten Fettaltcoholen mit etwa 12-18 Kohlenstoffatomen und einer Durchschnittszahl
von Äthoxygruppen zwischen etwa 1 und 5 durchgeführt. Die auf
diese Weise erhaltene Emulsion wird dann durch eine Nachbehandlung, welche darin besteht, daß man im wesentlichen 100 #
der Oberfläche der Teilchen mit einem anionischen Emulgierungsmittel bedeckt, stabilisiert. Als anionische Materialien zur
stabilisierenden Nachbehandlung können die oben genannten Fettsäuresalze und Salze von Fettalkoholsulfaten verwendet
werden. Diese umfassen auch die Natrium- und Kaliumsalze von gesättigten Fettsäuren mit etwa 12-18 Kohlenstoffatomen
(die Kaliumsalze werden vorzugsweise verwendet) und reine oder gemischte Alkylsulfate. Bei diesen stabilisierten Polyäthylenemulsionen
hängt der Gesamtgehalt an Emulgierungsmitteln von
der Größe der polymeren Teilchen ab. Dieser Gehalt an Emulgierungsmitteln kann z.B. etwa 10 Gew.-# betragen, v/enn die Teilchen
etwa 40 % der Feststoffe mit einer Teilchengröße von etwa 0,03 Mikron umfassen , während er bei nur etwa 8 Gew.-^ liegt,
wenn die Teilchengröße etwa 0,5 Mikron beträgt. Im allgemeinen übersteigt der Gehalt an Emulgierungsmitteln nicht 12 96, bezogen
auf das Gewicht der Polymerisatsemulsion,obwohl auch höhere Anteile verwendet werden können, ohne daß dadurch die mechanischen
Eigenschaften der Emulsionen wesentlich verbessert würden.
Die Nachbehandlung zum Zweck der Stabilisierung wird mit anionischen
Verbindungen durchgeführt, die frei von Säuregruppen sind, wodurch die stabilisierten Emulsionen einen pH-Wert von
mehr als 8 haben.
Die so stabilisierten Polyäthylenemulsionen unterscheiden sich von den aus oxydierten Polyäthylenen hergestellten Emulsionen,

welche ein relativ niedriges Molekulargewicht, im allgemeinen
•unter etwa 5 000, gewöhnlich etwa 3 000, haben. Diese Werte sind teilweise durch das Verfahren, mit dem Emulsionen aus
diesen oxydierten Polyäthylenen hergestellt werden, bedingt.
allgemein/ Es hängen die mechanischen Eigenschaften der Polymerisate pron
ihrem Molekulargewicht ab. Außerdem enthalten die Emulsionen der oxydierten Polyäthylene nicht mehr als etwa 20 bis 30 Gew.-^ an

Die für die erfindungsgemäßen Schmierfette verwendeten Emulsionen aus unoxydierten Polyäthylenen unterscheiden sich also deutlich
von den Emulsionen aus oxydierten Polyäthylenen, und zwar nicht nur, weil die ersteren einen höheren Gehalt an Polyäthylen
mit einem höheren Molekulargewicht, nämlich von mehr als etwa 10 000, vorzugsweise nicht über etwa 30 000 - 40 000, in Form von
Teilchen einer kleinen Größe aufweisen, sondern auch, weil sie einen pH-Wert von mehr als 8, im allgemeinen zwischen etwa 8,5
und 10, haben. Außerdem weisen sie zum Unterschied von den nicht stabilisierten Emulsionen aus unoxydierten Polyäthylenen einen
.etwa/ Gehalt an anionischen Emulgierungsmitteln von mehr als^B $>
auf.
Durch das Einbringen von stabilisierten Emulsionen aus unoxydiertem
Polyäthylen in Mischungen aus ölhaltigen Grundbestandteilen und metallischen Seifen erhält man besonders
konsistente und glatte Schmierfette, und zwar aufgrund eines synergistischen Effekts zwischen der Seife und der Polyäthylenemulsion.
Diese Verbesserung bringt außerdem noch weitere besonders günstige Vorteile mit sich, wie bessere Wasserbeständigkeit
seigenschaf ten und eine wesentlich verringerte Neigung zum Austreten oder Abscheiden des Öls.
Am häufigsten wird man Schmierfette verwenden, die im allgemeinen etwa 1 bis 10 Gew.-# einer stabilisierten Emulsion
aus unoxydiertem Polyäthylen in Mischung mit etwa 5 bis 25 Gew.-ji Seife enthalten und im übrigen aus einem ölartigen
Grundbestandteil bestehen, welcherdie üblichen Zusatzmittel
für Schmierfette enthält.
Man erhält bereits mit einem Polyäthylenemulsionsgehalt von nur etwa 1 Gew.-# eine wesentliche Verbesserung der Eigenschaften
der Schmierfette, wie aus den Ergebnissen der

Testverfahren zur Bestimmung der Konsistenz, der Vasserbeständigkeit
und der Neigung zum Austreten des Öls hervorgeht.
In diesem Zusammenhang wurden Schmierfette aus naphthenischem öl
(SSU-Viskosität hei etwa 370C = 500) hergestellt, die etwa
8,5 Gew.-Ji (bezogen auf das Schmierfett) Lithium-12-hydroxystearat,
0,5 Gew.-$ Antioxydationsmittel und 0,5 Gew.-#
Rostschutzmittel enthielten. Es wurde ein VergleichsSchmierfett
hergestellt, dem keine Polyäthylenemulsion zugegeben wurde, während die anderen Schmierfette 1 %, 2 # bzw. 3 #
an stabilisierter, anionischer Emulsion von nicht oxydiertem Polyäthylen (Poly-EM 12, ein Produkt der Cosden Oil & Chemical
Company) enthielten. Diese Emulsion hat die folgenden Haupte igen schäften:

Es wurden die folgenden Tests durchgeführt:
- Schmierfettkonsistenz durch Eindringtest-Verfahren ASTM-D
217: die Penetration wird an der Strecke gemessen (in Zehntel-Millimetern), die ein Standardkegel im freien
Fall bei 250C in die Oberfläche des in einem Becher befindlichen
Schmierfetts eindringt. Wenn das Fett lediglich nur in den Becher gefüllt wird, gibt man bei der Eindringung
"mechanisch nicht behandelt" an . Da man auf diese Weise nicht immer geeignete Angaben erhält, wird
der Test auch mit mechanisch behandeltem Schmierfett (in
diesem Fall mit 60 Schlägen) durchgeführt.

- ASTM-Testverfahren D 1264 zur Bestimmung der Wasserbeetändigkeitseigenschaften:
das Schmierfett wird "bei geregelter Temperatur und Geschwindigkeit mit Wasser gewaschen. Der
Gewichtsverlust des Fetts wird bestimmt und in Gew.-JA umgerechnet.

Die Eigenschaften sind bereits bei einem Polyäthylenemulsionsgehalt
von 1 Gew.-^ (bezogen auf das Gesamtgewicht der Zusammensetzung)
wesentlich verbessert, und diese Verbesserung wird besonders deutlich, wenn der Gehalt der Polyäthylenemulsion
etwa 2 bis 3 Gew.-# beträgt.

Die Menge an stabilisierter Emulsion von unoxydiertem Polyäthylen,
die zur Verbesserung der Schmierfette und zur Erreichung der erwünschten Eigenschaften notwendig ist, kann
je nach Typ des öligen Grundbestandteils und nach Typ und
Menge der Seife variieren. Wenn die Emulsionen in einer Menge von mehr als etwa 10 Gew.-# verwendet werden, wirken sie sich
zwar immer noch vorteilhaft aus, die Verbesserung ist jedoch nicht mehr so wesentlich, daß sie die zusätzlichen Kosten
rechtfertigen würde. Unter Berücksichtigung der technischen und wirtschaftlichen Aspekte beträgt der Gehalt an PoIyäthylenemulsion
im allgemeinen nicht mehr als etwa 10 Gew.-#, meistens liegt er zwischen etwa 1 und 5 Gew.-^.
Der ölige Grundbestandteil ist vorzugsweise ein aromatisches
oder Naphthenöl, insbesondere ein stark naphthenisches öl, welches Schmierfette mit einer besseren Wärmebeständigkeit
ergibt. Es können auch synthetische Schmieröle, die insbesondere Sebacin- oder Adipinsäureester von Alkoholen mit etwa
6 bis 12 Kohlenstoffatomen, wie 2-Äthylhexanol, enthalten,
verwendet werden. Mineralische öle oder Mischungen von
mineralischen ölen mit einem geringeren Anteil an synthetischem öl sind jedoch in wirtschaftlicher Hinsicht vorteilhafter.
Die Menge an Seife, die als Verdickungsmittel verwendet wird, beträgt im allgemeinen etwa 5 bis 25 Gew.-#, bezogen auf das
Gewicht des Schmierfetts, wobei dieser Anteil vom Seifentyp, von der Polyäthylenmenge, dem gewünschten Konsistenzgrad usw.
abhängt. Die Seife wird im allgemeinen aus einer höheren aliphatischen Karbonsäure,die entweder gesättigt oder ungesättigt ist,
mit etwa 12 bis 18 Kohlenstoffatomen hergestellt, z.B. aus Stearin-, 12-Hydroxystearin-, Palmitin-, Oleinsäure usw.
Es können auch gemischte Seifen verwendet werden, die aus zwei verschiedenen Seifen hergestellt worden sind, wie z.B.
eine Mischung aus Alkaliseife*und Aluminiumseife. Weitere wertvolle Verdickungsmittel sind komplexe Seifen, die aus
bzw. alkalische Seife - 9 -

einer höheren aliphatischen Karbonsäure und einer Säure mit einem niederen Molekulargewicht hergestellt worden sind, wie z.B.
Seifen aus Benzostearin-, Toluostearin- oder Azetopalmitinsäuren.
Letztere ist also beispielsweise eine Mischung von einer Seife der Essigsäure mit einer Seife der Palmitinsäure, wobei diese
Mischung vorzugsweise wenigstens etwa 50 Gew. -$>
der Seife der Essigsäure enthält.
Die erfindungsgemäßen Schmierfette enthalten auch die üblichen Zusatzmittel, nämlich Antioxydationsmittel, Rostschutzmittel
und Hochdruckzusatzmittel.
Besonders wirksame Antioxydationsmittel sind M-Alkyl-paraphenylendiamine,
Naphthylamine und Di- und Trialkylphenole. Rostschutzmittel umfassen meistens primäre Amine mit etwa
6 bis 18 Kohlenstoffatomen oder F-heterozyklisierte Derivate.
Hochdruckzusatzmittel werden meistens aus der Gruppe: Arylphosphite, Arylphosphate und Arylthiophosphate, Arylsulfide,
sulfurisierte Fettöle , chlorierte Paraffine usw. ausgewählt.
Den erfindungsgemäßen Schmierfetten können auch Antiverschleißzusatzmittel,
z.B. Harnstoff-oder Thioharnstoffderivate, oder Polyisobutylene mit einem mittleren Molekulargewicht
von mehr als 800 als Viskositätsverbesserer zugegeben werden.
Die Menge dieser Zusatzmittel kann zwischen etwa 0,1 und 10 Gew.-5^, vorzugsweise zwischen etwa 1 und 5 Gew.-Ji, bezogen
auf das Gewicht des Fetts, schwanken.
Die erfindungsgemäßen Schmierfette können in bekannten Verfahren hergestellt werden. Bei diesen Verfahren wird bei
einer relativ hohen Temperatur aus dem öligen Grundbestandteil und der Seife eine homogene Mischung hergestellt, dann die
stabilisierte Emulsion von Polyäthylen zugegeben, die Mischung abgekühlt, um ein Gel zu bilden, und dieses Gel asur Erreichung
der gewünschten Struktur homogenisiert. Wenn man Schmierfette

zweckmäßig sein, die homogene Lösung von einer Temperatur von
ttwa 2109O langsam auf eine Temperatur von 120 - 13O0C abeuktiblen,
denn bei dieser Temperatur eine isotherme Gelierung
durchzuführen und das Gel danach weiter abzukühlen,
Pie folgenden Beispiele dienen zur näheren Erläuterung der
Erfindung. Die darin angegebenen Prozente sind Gewichts-#,
Dieses Beispiel verdeutlicht den synergistischen Effekt zwischen der Seife und der Polyäthylenemulsion.
Ein Schmierfett, das 85,5 Gew.-ji Naphthenöl (500 SSU
bei etwa 370C), 14 i>
ffatrlumeeife der Stearinsäure und
0,5 # Antioxydationsmittel enthält, hat einen Penetrationsindex von 266 (mechanisch bearbeitet, 60 Schläge).
Ein anderes Schmierfett, das 88 $> des gleichen Öls, 10 #
Lithiumstearat, 0,5 $>
des gleichen Antioxydationsmittels und 1,5 i» Polyäthylenemulsion (Poly-EM 12) enthält, besitzt die
gleiche Konsistenz.
Diese Ergebnisse zeigen, daß bei Zugabe von 1,5 % einer
stabilisierten Emulsion von unoxydiertem Polyäthylen die Seifenmenge von 14 auf 10 % verringert werden kann, ohne daß dies
eine schädliche Auswirkung auf die Konsistenz des Fettes hat.
Wenn man andererseits ein Schmierfett aus einem öligen Grundbestandteil
und einer stabilisierten Emulsion von Polyäthylen herstellt, ohne eine Metallseife zuzugeben, so benötigt man
mindestens 10 Gew.-# dieser Emulsion, um eine geeignete Konsistenz
zu erhalten, und das Schmierfett ist außerdem weniger beständig.

Ein Schmierfett, das
7.0 Ji Lithium-12-hydroxystearat,
0,5 Ji Antioxydationsmittel,
0,5 Ji Rostschutzmittel,
0,5 Ji Antioxydationsmittel,
0,5 Ji Rostschutzmittel,
90,0 Ji Mineralöl (500 SSU bei etwa 370C) und
2,0 Ji PoIy-EM 12
enthält, ist homogen, glatt und hart. Wie aus Eindringtests hervorgeht, besitzt es eine bemerkenswerte mechanische
Beständigkeit; es wurde nur ein sehr geringer Unterschied zwischen der Eindringung nach einer mechanischen Behandlung
mit 60 Schlägen und mit 10 000 Schlägen (Penetrationsindex
bzw. 285) festgestellt.
Der Verlust durch Waschen mit Wasser beträgt 4,5 Gew.-Jt.
Beispiel 3
Ein Schmierfett, das aus
6,5 Ji Iiithium-12-hydroxystearat,
2,5 Ji Hochdruckzusatzmittel,
35,0 Ji Naitthenöl (2000 SSU bei etwa 370C), 53,0 Ji Naphthenöl (500 SSU bei etwa 370C) und 3,0 + PoIy-EM 12
35,0 Ji Naitthenöl (2000 SSU bei etwa 370C), 53,0 Ji Naphthenöl (500 SSU bei etwa 370C) und 3,0 + PoIy-EM 12
hergestellt worden ist, ist glatt und beständig und besitzt
einen Penetrationsindex von 260 nach einer Behandlung mit 60 Schlägen. Dieses Fett besitzt auch eine hohe mechanische
Beständigkeit; der Penetrationsindex nach 10 000 Schlägen beträgt 279. Der Unterschied zu dem Indexwert nach 60
Schlägen ist also sehr gering.
Der Gewichtsverlust durch Waschen mit Wasser (bei 800C) beträgt 6,5 Ji,

Das Beispiel 3 wurde wiederholt, jedoch unter Verwendung einer gemischten Seife. Dieses Schmierfett enthielt 5 %
Lithium-12-hydroxystearat und 1,5 # Aluminiumstearat.
Das Fett zeigte die gleichen Leistungen wie das des vorangegangenen
Beispiels.
Es wurde ein Schmierfett hergestellt aus:
7,5 5^ Kalzium-12-hydroxystearat,
2,5 $ Hochdruckzusatzmittel, 84,0 # Naphthenöl (500 SSU hei etwa 370C)
5,0 # Polyisobutylen mit einem mittleren Molekulargewicht
von 3
2,0 1> PoIy-EM
Es war ebenfalls mechanisch sehr beständig; der Penetrationsindex
bei 60 bzw. 10 000 Schlagen betrug 273 bzw. 292.
Der Gewichtsverlust beim Waschen mit Wasser war außerordentlich niedrig, er betrug 2,5 Gew.-^ (bei 800C).
Es wurde ein Schmierfett hergestellt aus:
8,0 56 Kalzium-12-hydroxystearat
1,0 Ji Rostschutzmittel, 0,5 i» Antioxydationsmittel,
86,5 $> Naphthenöl (100 SSU bei etwa 370C) und
1,0 1> PoIy-EM
Es besaß einen Penetrationsindex von 261 (bei 60 Schlagen).

Dieses Fett hatte bemerkenswerte wasserabweisende Eigenschaften;
der Gewichtsverlust beim Waschen mit Wasser (bei 800C) betrug nur 0,8 Gew.-56.
Zum Unterschied dazu wies ein ähnliches Schmierfett, das die gleichen Mengen an Seife, Antioxydationsmittel und Rostschutzmittel
und 87,5 # des gleichen Öls, jedoch keine Polyäthylenemulsion enthielt, einen Indexwert von 295 (bei
60 Schlägen) und einen Gewichtsverlust durch Waschen mit Wasser von 18 # auf. Dieses Vergleichsbeispiel zeigt deutlich,
welch außerordentlich vorteilhafte Wirkung die Zugabe der stabilisierten Emulsion aus unoxydiertem Polyäthylen hervorruft.
Es wurde ein Schmierfett hergestellt aus:
5,0 56 Kalzium-12-hydroxystearat
5,0 $> Kalzium-azetopalmitat
87,5 $ Naphthenöl (2000 SSU bei etwa 370C) 1,0 J* PoIy-EM 12.
5,0 $> Kalzium-azetopalmitat
87,5 $ Naphthenöl (2000 SSU bei etwa 370C) 1,0 J* PoIy-EM 12.
Es hatte einen Indexwert von 285 (bei 60 Schlagen) und einen Gewichtsverlust durch Waschen mit Wasser (bei 800C) von 1,4 #.
Es wurde ein Fett hergestellt aus:
14,0 # Natriumstearat
0,5 f> Antioxydationsmittel
45,5 $ Naphthenöl (500 SSU bei etwa 370C) 35,0 # Naphthenöl (2000 SSU bei etwa 370C) 5,0 $ PoIy-EM 12.
45,5 $ Naphthenöl (500 SSU bei etwa 370C) 35,0 # Naphthenöl (2000 SSU bei etwa 370C) 5,0 $ PoIy-EM 12.
Dieses Schmierfett hat besonders gute Konsistenz; der Penetrationsindex
(bei 60 Schlägen) betrug 207.

Der Gewichtsverlust durch Waschen mit Wasser (bei 380C) betrug
40 £, während ein ähnliches Fett, das jedoch keine Polyäthylenemulsion enthielt, einen Verlust von 80 Ji aufwies.
Es wurde ein Schmierfett hergestellt aus:
8,0 £ Natriumpalmitat
0,5 Ji Antioxydationsmittel
0,5 1> Antiverschleißmittel
63,0 # Naphthenöl (500 SSU bei etwa 370C) 20,0 $ 2-Äthylhexyl-adipat
63,0 # Naphthenöl (500 SSU bei etwa 370C) 20,0 $ 2-Äthylhexyl-adipat
8,0 t PoIy-EM 12.
Es besaß einen Indexwert von 264 (bei 60 Schlagen).
Biese Beispiele zeigen, daß die erfindungsgemäßen Schmierfette gute Konsistenz besitzen und mechanisch beständig sind.Diese Verbesserung
der Eigenschaften wird durch das Einbringen von stabilisierten Emulsionen von unoxydiertem Polyäthylen
bewirkt.
Zum Vergleich wurde ein Schmierfett aus 87,5 $>
Mineralöl (500 SSU bei etwa 37°C), 8,5 # Lithium-12-hydroxystearat,
1 i> der üblichen Zusatzmittel und 3 # einer nicht stabilisierten Emulsion von Polyäthylen mit einem pH-Wert von 7,7
und einem Gehalt an anionischem Emulgierungsmittel von 5,21 56
hergestellt.
Dieses Schmierfett hatte einen Penetrationsindex von 312 (bei Schlagen), einen Austritts- (oder ölabscheidungs-)index von
3,5 und einen Gewichtsverlust durch Waschen mit Wasser (bei 800C) von 15 #. Ein Vergleich mit den Ergebnissen, die mit
dem Schmierfett C(der Tabelle auf Seite 7) erhalten wurden, zeigt, daß unstabilisierte Emulsionen von Polyäthylen,
d.h. solche mit einem niedrigen Gehalt an anionischem Emulgierungsmittel, nicht zu einer wesentlichen Verbesserung
der Schmierfette führen.

Andererseits wurde gefunden, daß ein Schmierfett, das dem
genannten Fett C entsprach, jedoch unter Verwendung einer
Emulsion von oxydiertem Polyäthylen hergestellt worden war, eine schlechte mechanische Beständigkeit aufwies; es bildeten
sich Klumpen infolge des Brechens der Emulsion, und die Polymerisateteilchen koagulierten.

Claims (2)
1. Schmierfette, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß sie
etwa 5 bis 25 Gew.-# Verdickungsseife,
etwa 1 bis 10 Gew. -# einer anionischen Emulsion von nicht
oxydiertem Polyäthylen mit einem mitt leren Molekulargewicht von mehr als etwa
10 000, wobei diese Emulsion etwa 35 bis 60 # an Polyäthylen und etwa 8 bis
12 # an anionischem Emulgierungsmittel,
bezogen auf das Gewicht der Emulsion, enthält und die mittlere Größe der Polyäthylenteilchen
zwischen etwa 0,02 und 0,5 Mikron liegt,
und als Rest der Zusammensetzung einen ölartigen Grundbestandteil
mit den üblichen Zusatzmitteln für Schmierfette
umfassen.
2. Schmierfette nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß
sie etwa 1 bis 5 Gew.-$ der Polyäthylenemulsion umfassen.
