Isomerisationsverfahren
Die vorliegende Erfindung bezieht sich auf ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von 3,4-Dichlorbuten-1 durch Isomerisation von 1,4-Dichlorbuten-2
oder von 1,4-Dichlorbuten-2 durch Isomerisation von 3,4-Dichlorbuten-1.
Das durch Chlorierung von Butadien erhaltene Dichlorbuten ist eine Mischung aus den isomeren Verbindungen 1,4-Dichlorbuten~2
und 3,4-Dichlorbuten-1 im Verhältnis von etwa 60 $ der erstgenannten
zu 40 fo der zuletztgenannten Verbindung. Diese beiden
ο -Isomeren sind gewöhnlich im Gleichgewicht in der Mischung vor-
co handen, wobei die Anteile von den Herstellungsbedingungen abo
hängig sind.
-* Die üblichen Isomeri3ationüverfahren von 1,4-Dichlorbuten-2 zu
cn 3,4-Dichlorbuten-1 oder 3,4-Dichlorbuten-1 zu 1,4-Dichlorbuten-2
sehen eine Erwärmung der vermischten Isomere mit einem oder mehreren der Katalysatoren Kupfer·, Eisen, Zink, Titan, Aluminium,
Zirkon usw., Metallsalze oder die Erwärmung der Isomeren ohne
Katalysatoren vor. Welches Verfahren auch immer für die Isomerisation
verwendet wird, die Umwandlungsgeschwindigkeit ist unerwünscht langsam, und hohe Temperaturen sind erforderlich,
um annehmbare Ausbeuten des gewünschten Isomeren zu erhalten, -und ferner werden einige unerwünschte Nebenprodukte gebildet.
Es wurde nun gefunden, daß durch die Verwendung von Katalysatoren mit bestimmten Zusammensetzungen die Geschwindigkeit der Isomerisation
in beachtlichem Maße beschleunigt wird.
Das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren zur Isomerisation von 1,4-Dichlorbuten-2
zu 3|4—Dichlorbuten-1 oder zur Isomerisation von 3,4-Dichlorbuten-1
zu 1,4-Dichlorbuten-2 ist nun dadurch gekenn- . zeichnet, daß sie die Reaktionsstufe umfaßt, daß die zu isomerisierenden
Verbindungen mit einer Katalysatorzusammensetzung, die eine oder mehrere Kupferverbindungen oder eine organische Phosphorverbindung
umfaßt, in Kontakt gebracht werden.
Die organische Phosphorverbindung in der Katalysatorzusammensetzung
der vorliegenden Erfindung kann eine aliphatisch, alicyclisch oder aromatisch substituierte Phosphorverbindung sein.
Geeignete Beispiele solcher Verbindungen sind Di- und Tri-aryl- oder Alkylphosphite, -phosphate, -phospinoxyde, -phosphanate und
-phosphine. Zu Beispielen bevorzugter Verbindungsklassen zählen Triphenylphosphit, Triäthylphosphit, Triallylphosph.it, Tri-isopropylphosphit,
Dimethylphospb.it, Diäthylphosphit, Triäthylphosphat,
Tributylphosphat, Tributvlphosphit, Diphenylphosphit,
Triphenylph°sphinoxyd, Diäthyläthylphosphanat, Diäthylphosphat,
Triphenylphosphin und Tributylphosphinoxyd.
-Di'e Kupferverbindungen, die zur Durchführung den erfindungsgemäßen
Verfahrens verwendet werden können, umfassen sowohl organische
und anorganische Salze als auch Komplexe von Kupfer. Geeignete Beispiele sind Halogenide, Acetate und Naphthenate
von Kupfer, z.B. Kupfer-I-chlorid, Kupfer-II-chlorid, Kupfer-II-acetat
und Kupfer-II-naphthenat, wobei letzteres aufgrund seiner

hohen Löslichkeit in Dichlorbutenen bevorzugt wird.
Me Menge der in der erfindungsgemäßen Katalysatorzusammensetzung
anwesenden organischen Phosphorverbindung kann inner- -halb eines recht weiten Bereiches von zwischen etwa 0,5 und
■10 Gew.$, bezogen auf die gesamte Zusammensetzung aus Katalysator
und Dichlorbuten, schwanken.
Die erfindungsgemäße Isomerisation kann bei Temperaturen zwischen etwa 80 und 1600C, vorzugsweise zwischen etwa 100 und 1300C,
bei atmosphärischen, überatmosphärischen oder unteratmosphärischen Drucken erfolgen.
Das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren kann ansatzweise oder kontinuierlich
durchgeführt werden. Vorzugsweise ist das Verfahren kontinuierlich. We'nn die Umwandlung von 1,4--Dichlorbuten-2 zu 3»4-Dichlorbuten-1
gewünscht wird, wird ersteres oder das oben beschrie,-bene Chlorinierungsprodukt von Butadien kontinuierlich in ein
Reaktionsgefäß, das den Katalysator enthält, gegeben. Dieser wird erhitzt und reines 3,4-Dichlorbuten-1 durch eine Fraktionierkolonne
abdestilliert. Die Vorrichtung wird vorzugsweise unter reduziertem Druck gehalten, weil es weder notwenig noch
erwünscht ist, die Umsetzung bei normalem Siedepunkt der Dichlorbutene durchzuführen, und die Destillation kann von dem Reaktionsgefäß selbst erfolgen. Da 3,4-Dichlorbuten-1 einen niedrigeren
Siedepunkt als 1,4-Dichlorbuten-2 hat, wird das Gleichgewicht
der Reaktion zugunsten des erstgenannten verschoben, und das gesamte 1,4-Dichlorbuten-2, welches zur Aufrechterhaltung eines
konstanten Spiegels in dem Reaktionsgefäß zugeführt wird, wird auf diese Weise zu 3»4-DichlOrbuten~1 umgewandelt. Es ist beucht
enw er t, daß kein Verlust an Katalysator in dem abdestilliert'en
3»4-Dichlorbuten-1 auftritt. Da jedoch ein sehr geringer Teil, der Dichlorbutene zu höher siedenden Substanzen umgewandelt
wird, ist es notwendig, daß ein kleiner Strom aus dem Reaktionsgefäß als Flüssigkeit entfernt wird, um eine Ansammlung der
hochsiedenden Substanzen zu vermeiden. Dieser Strom wird einer

getrennten Destillation unterworfen, um den Anteil an Dichlor-Imten,
welches dann in das Reaktionsgefäß zurückgeführt wird, zu gewinnen. Bei dieser Arbeitsweise bleibt etwas Katalysator
in dem Strom hochsiedender Substanzen zurück, so daß in der Praxis-eine sehr kleine Menge an neuem Katalysator dem Reaktionsgefäß zuzuführen ist. Diese sollte zur Aufrechterhaltung der
bevorzugten Umsetzungsgeschwindigkeit ausreichend sein.
in dem umgekehrten Fall, wenn die Umwandlung von 3,4-Diehlorbuten-1
zu 1,4-Dichlorbuten-2 gewünscht wird, werden die ge- ·
mischten Dichlorbutene ebenfalls in das kontinuierliche Reaktions system, wie es bereits beschrieben wurde, eingeführt. In diesem
Fall jedoch wird zur Trennung des 1,4--Dichlorbuten-2 ein flüssiger
Strom aus dem Reaktionsgefäß zu einer geeigneten Stelle
in der Nähe der Blase einer Fraktionierkolonne, die sich nicht an dem Reaktionsgefäß befindet, überführt und mit einem eigenen
Aufkocher versehen. 3,4-Dichiorbuten-1 wird aus dem Kopf der
Kolonne entfernt und zu dem Reaktionsgefäß zurückgeführt, und Dampf von 1,4-Dichlor-buten-2 wird in der Nähe der Blase der
Kolonne, jedoch unterhalb der Zufuhr der Beschickung entfernt. Der den Katalysator enthaltende Strom aus dem Aufkocher der
Kolonne wird in das Reaktionsgefäß zurückgeführt, wobei ein
geeigneter Anteil für eine getrennte Destillation entfernt wird, um Ansammlungen von hochsiedenden Substanzen in dem Reaktionsgefäß zu vermeiden. Eine regelmäßige Zugabe des Katalysators
in das Reaktionsgefäß wird zum Ausgleich des entfernten Katalysators und zur Aufrechterhaltung der Reaktionsgeschwindigkeit
· vorgenommen .
IDie nachfolgenden Beispiele dienen zur näheren Erläuterung
a«er vorliegenden Erfindung:
Die in den folgenden Beispielen verwendeten Katalysatoren bestehen entweder aus 1)3 Teilen Kupfer-II-naphthenat (ein
handelsübliches Produkt, das 5 Gew.^ Cu-Metall enthält) oder
2) 0,5 Teilen Kupfer-I-chlorid. Der Katalysator und 3 Teile

sichtlich, ist, wurden zu 100 Teilen an 1,4 Dichlorbuten-2 gegeben. Die Mischung wurde sehr schnell auf 120 C erhitzt und Proben
wurden zu verschiedenen Zeiten entnommen und durch Gasphasenchromatographie
analysiert. Durch Auftragen der Umwandlung gegen die Zeit zu 3,4—Dichlorbuten-1 wurde die Umwandlung nach'90 Min»
gemessen. Die Ergebnisse dieser Versuche sind in Tabelle 1 angegeben. ■

Kontinuierliche Isomerisation von 1,4-Dichlorbuten-2 zu 3s4~Dichlorbuten-1-.
1,4-Dichlorbuten-2 (99,1 fo, cis/trans-Verhältnis = 0,33) wurde
kontinuierlich in einer Geschwindigkeit von 175 ml/Std. in ein 'Glasreaktionsgefäß gepumpt, in welchem 700 ml 1,4-Dichlorbuten~2,
3 i° Triphenylphosphit und Kupfer-II-naphthenat (anfänglich 700
T.p.M. Cu in der Lösung) und "bei 110^ 20C (etwa 180 mm/Hg)
enthalten waren ... Las Reaktionsgefäß wurde durch zwei
Seitenarm-Tauchsieder erhitzt,, wodurch eine schnelle Zirkulierung
des Inhalts des Reaktionsgefäßes bewirkt wurde. Die zugeführte Wärmeenergie wurde automatisch geregelt, um das Volumen der
Flüssigkeit in dem Reaktionsgefäß konstant zu halten, d.h. die gemischten Dichlorbutene wurden mit einer Geschwindigkeit von
175 ml/Std, was der Beschickungsgeschwindigkeit entsprach, abdestilliert. Die Menge des Kupfers in Lösung wurde überwacht.
Dieses neigte dazu, während des Versuchs zu verarmen, und es wurde
weiteres Kupfer-II-naphthenat von Zeit zu Zeit zugefügt, um eine
Konzentration von etwa 375 T.p.M. Gu in Lösung aufrechtzuerhalten.
Durch Gaschromatographie der abdestillierten Dichlorbutene wurde "die Isomerisationsgeschwindigkeit von 1,4-Dichlorbuten-2 zu 3»4-Di
c^il or but en-1 bestimmt.
Sin zweiter kontinuierlicher Versuch wurde genau wie oben beschrieben
durchgeführt (d.h. unter Zusatz von Kupfer-II-naphthena-t
in den gleichen Mengen und zu den gleichen Zeiten wie bei dem ersten Versuch), jedoch ohne Zugabe von Triphenylphosphit.
Die Isomerisationsgeschwindigkeit wurde errechnet und mit der-Wenigen
aus dem ersten "Versuch verglichen (siehe Tabelle II),

Claims (7)
- Patentansprüche!.^erfahren zur.Isomerisation von 1^-Dichlorbutene zu 3 »4- ' Dichlorbuten-1 oder zur Isomerisation von 3i>4-Dichlorbuten-1 zu 1,4-Dichlorbuten-2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß es die Reaktionsstufe umfaßt, daß die zu isomerisierende Verbindung mit einer Katalysatorzusammensetzung, die eine oder mehrere Kupferverbindungen und eine organische Phosphorverbindung umfaßt, in Kontakt gebracht wird.
- 2. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß als Kupferverbindungen in der Katalysatorzusammensetzung Salze von organischen Säuren, anorganischen Säuren oder Komplexe von Kupfer, vorzugsweise 'Kupfer-II-naphthenat oder Kupfer-I-chlorid, verwendet werden.
- 3.,Verfahren nach Anspruch 1 und 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß • als organische Phosphorverbindung eine aliphatisch-, alicyclischader aromatisch-substituierte Phosphorverbindung verwendet wird.
- 4. Verfahren nach Anspruch 3, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß als organische Phosphorverbindung eine solche aus der Gruppe Dialkyl- phosphit , -phosphat, -phosphinoxyd, -phosphonat und -phosphine; Diary-phosphite, -phosphate, -phosphinoxyde, -phosphonate und -phosphine; Trialkyl-phosphite, -phosphate, -phosphinoxyde, -phosphonate und -phosphine; bzw. Triaryl-phosphite, -phosphate, -phosphinoxyde, -phosphonate und -phosphine, fverwendet wird.
- 5. Verfahren nach Anspruch 4, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß als organische Phosphorverbindung Dimethylphosphit, Diäthylphosphit Mphenylphoephit, Diäthyläthylphosphonate, Diäthylphosphatβ,— "U ·"•Ί·,T:: Iathylphosphat, Tributylphosphat, Triphenylphosphit, Triäthylphoephit, Tributylphosphit, Triallylphosphit, Triisopropylphosphit, Tributylphosphintxyd, Triphenylphosphinoxyd und Triphenyl« phosphin verwendet wird.
- 6, ^erfahren nach Anspruch 1 bis 5, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die organische Phosphorverbindung in einer Menge von ^wischen etwa 0,5 und 10 Gew.$, bezogen auf das Gesamtgewicht von in der Iteaktionsmischung anwesenden Dichlorbutenen und Katalysator verwendet wird.
- 7. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1 bis 6, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daßdie Isomerisation bei einer Temperatur im Bereich von etwa 80 biiwird*.80 bis 1600C, vorzugsweise von etwa 100 bis 130°0, durchgeführt20 9830/1195
