Verfahren zur Herstellung von Allophanatpolyisocyanaten

Gegenstand des Hauptpatents ist ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von Allophanatisoeyanaten mit mindestens einer
aromatisch gebundenen Isocyanatgruppe durch Umsetzung von
N-substituierten Carbamidsäureestern mit organischen Mono- oder Polyisocyanaten mit aliphatisch oder aromatisch gebundenen Isocyanatgruppen, wobei Jedoch der N-substituierte
Carbamidsäureester mindestens eine aromatisch gebundene
Isocyanatgruppe aufweist und/oder die Reaktion unter Verwendung von mindestens zwei aromatisch gebundenen Isocyanatgruppen aufweisenden Polyisocyanaten erfolgt, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Umsetzung in Gegenwart von alkylierend
wirkenden Verbindungen durchgeführt wird.
Durch dieses Verfahren werden eine Reihe im Hauptpatent
näher dargelegte Vorteile erzielt.
1. Als Reaktionstemperatur muß ein verhältnismäßig hoher Bereich, nämlich 100 bis 18O0C, gewählt werden.
2. Die Reaktionszeit beträgt 5 bis 50 Stunden.
3. Eine vollständige Allophanatisierung, d.h. eine Umwandlung
sämtlicher vorhandener Carbamidsäureestergruppen in AlIophanatgruppen ist schwer realisierbar (s. z.B. Beispiel 1,

Wie nun überraschend gefunden wurde, gelingt es, die genannten Nachteile dadurch auszuschließen, daß die Reaktion
in Gegenwart von bestimmten in den Mono- bzw. Polyisocyanaten löslichen Metallverbindungen durchgeführt wird.
Gegenstand der vorliegenden Erfindung ist somit ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von Allophanatpolyisocyanaten mit mindestens
einer aromatisch gebundenen Isocyanatgruppe durch Umsetzung
von N-substituierten Carbamidsäureestern mit organischen
Mono- oder Polyisocyanaten mit aliphatisch oder aromatisch gebundenen Isocyanatgruppen, wobei jedoch der N-substituierte
Carbamidsäureester mindestens eine aromatisch gebundene Isocyanatgruppe aufweist und/oder die Reaktion unter Verwendung
von mindestens zwei aromatisch gebundenen Isocyanatgruppen
aufweisenden Polyisocyanaten erfolgt in Gegenwart von alky-
lierend wirkenden Verbindungen gemäß Hauptpatent
(Patentanmeldung P 20 09 179.6), dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß
die Umsetzung in Gegenwart von in den Mono- oder Polyisocyanaten löslichen Metallverbindungen von Metallen der III.
oder IV.-Hauptgruppe oder der II., VI.,VII oder VIII.-Nebengruppe du3 Periodischen Systems der Elemente erfolgt.
Geeignete beim erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren einzusetzende Metallverbindungen sind beliebige in Mono- bzw. Polyisocyanaten
lösliche Verbindungen von Metallen der III. oder IV.
Hauptgruppe bzw. der II., VI., VII oder VIII.- ι Nebengruppe des Periodischen Systems der Elemente, Beispiele
für derartige Metallverbindungen sind: Metallhalogenide wie Eisen-(IIl)-chlorld,
Zinkchlorid ; Metallalkoholate wie I
Titantetrabutylat oder Zirkontetrapropylat; Metallsalze organischer Säuren wie Eisen- (IIl)-2-äthylhexoat, Kobalt-2-äthylhexoat, Kobaltnaphthenat, Kobalt-

benzoat, das EobaJtaalz der Unaecylensäure, Nickel-2-äthylhexoat,
Mckelnaphtiienat, Aluminiumoleat, Mangan-( Il)-2-äthylhexoat;
Chelatkomplexe der Metalle Kobalt, Nickel, Eisen Zink, Mangan und Aluminium, die als Liganden folgende Verbindungen
enthalten l.iriiien; ß-Dicarbonylverbindungen wie Acetylaceton,
Acetessigsäureathylester, 1,i-Dimethyl-cyclohexandion-3,5»
Hydroxy-oxo-verbindmigen wie Sali-cylaldehyd oder o-Hydroxyacetophenon
und komplexbildende Säuren wie Salicylsäure oder Ascorbinsäure.
Für die katalytische Wirkung der Metallverbindung ist die
Natur des mit dem Metall verbundene* nichtmetallischen Restes
τοπ untergeordneter Bedeutung. Wesentlich ist allein eine gute
.Löslichkeit der Metallverbindung in den Mono- bzw. Polyisocyanaten. Bevorzugte Metallverbindungen sind solche der Metalle
der II und VIII Nebengruppe insbesondere Verbindungen von Zink,
Kobalt, Nickel imd Eisen.
Als besonders geeignete Katalysatoren erwiesen sich die Acetylacetonete des Kobalts und Zinks.
Bezüglich der anderen Ausgan^sksaponenten für das erfindungsgemääe Verfahren gilt die Offenbarung des Hauptpatents
in volles Umfang. Die oben angeführten Metallkatalysatoren werden in Mengen von 0,001 bis 5 Gew.-Jt, Torzugsweise von
0,01 bis 1 Gew.-Jt, bezogen auf das Gesamtgewicht der Reaktlonspartner.
Die erfindungsgemäße Umsetzung der Mono- bzw. Polyisocyanate mit den N-substituierten Carbamidsäureestern erfolgt vorzugsweise bei zwischen 20 und 1200G, insbesondere 70 und 1000C
liegenden Temperaturen, während 2 bis 15 Stunden
bei gleichzeitiger Anwesenheit der im Hauptpatent genannten

alkylierend wirkenden Verbindungen sowie der obengenannten
Metallkatalysatoren. Die Reaktion kann bei Normal- oder Überdruck in Ab- oder Anwesenheit τοη Lösungsmitteln, die keine
■it Isocyanat reaktionsfähige Wasserstoffatome aufweisen dürfen, erfolgen.
Die erfinduhgsgemäße kombinierte Anwendung der MetallkatdLysatoren und der Alkylierungsmittel bringt 1» Vergleich zum
Verfahren des Hauptpatents folgende Vorteile:
1. Es kann bei niedrigeren Temperaturen von 20° bis 1200C
allophanatisiert werden, bevorzugt wird in einem Bereich von 70 - 1000C gearbeitet.
2. Trot« niedrigerer Temperaturen werden was·w ^lich kürzere
Reaktionszeiten von 2 bis 15 Stund?'
3. Durch das Arbeiten bei niedrigeren Temperaturen wird eine praktisch vollständige Allophanatislerung im Gegensatz zu den im Hauptpatent beanspruchten Verfahren erzielt.
4· Durch die vollständige Allophanatisierung wird eine Erhöhung der Funktionalität der Allophanatpolyisocyanate erreicht.
Die nach dem erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren zugänglichen Allophanatpolyisocyanate sind entsprechend der Offenbarung des
Hauptpatentes wertvolle Auegangskomponenten für die Herstellung von Polyurethankünststoffen. Aufgrund der nach dem erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren erreichbaren praktisch vollständigen Allophanatisierung und der damit verbundenen Erhöhung der Funktionalität der Verfahrensprodukte eignen sich diese insbesondere

als Polyisocyanatlcomponente "bei der Herstellung von hochgradig
vernetzten Produkten nach dem Isoeyanat-Polyadditions-verfahren.
Zur Herstellung von selbstverlöschenden elastischen oder halbelastischen
Schaumstoffen nach dem in der deutschen Patentanmeldung
P 2 008 064.8 beschriebenen Verfahren sind sie ebenfalls vorzüglich geeignet.

Beispiel 1 :
Zu 1914 Gewichtateilen Toluylen-2,4- und-2,6 -diisocyanat, Isomerenverhältnis
OO : 20, werden bei Raumtemperatur 2 Gewichtsteile
p-Toluolaulfonsäuremethyleater, der in der Tabelle nach
Art und Menge angegebene Katalysator sowie im Verlauf von 5 10 Minuten bei 600C beginnend 62 Gewichtsteile Äthylenglykol
hinzugefügt. Die nach der exothermen Reaktion erreichte Temperatur von 1000C wird während des weiteren Versuchsverlaufe, bei
der die Bildung des Allophanatpolyisocyanats erfolgt, beibehalten.
Wie aus der Zusammenstellung ersichtlich, bewirken die eingesetzten Katalysatoren im Vergleich zum Kontrollvereuch
Nr. 1 in kürzerer Zeit eine vollständigere Allophanatieierung des primär gebildeten Bisurethandiisocyanats wie aus den angegebenen
NCO-Werten im Vergleich zum berechneten Wert von 38,3 i* NCO für eine vollständige Allophanatisierung hervorgeht.
Die für Allophanat charakteristischen Banden im IR-Spektrum
werden bei allem mit Katalysator durchgeführten Versuchen gefunden.

Zu 239,25 Gewicht.-: lei Ιεη eines Gemisches aus Toluylen-2,4- und
-2,6-diisocyanat, isomerenverhältnis 80 : 20, werden bei Raumtemperatur
0,24 Gewichtsteile p-Toluolaulfonsäuremethylester,
der in der Tabelle nach Art und Menge (angegeben in Gewichtsprozent, bezogen auf eingesetztes Ieocyanat) genannte Katalysator
sowie im Verlauf von 30 Minuten bei 80 C unter ständigem Rühren und mit Stickstoff als Schutzgas 26 Gewichtsteile 2,2-Dimethylpropandiol-1,3
hinzugefügt.
Hierauf wird das Reaktionsgemisch auf 1000C erhitzt. Nach Ablauf
der in der Tabelle verzeichneten Versuchsdauer wurde der NCO-Gehalt der erhaltenen Produkte bestimmt und zur Prüfung
auf isocyanurathaltige Nebenprodukte von jedem Absatz ein Infrarotspektrum hergestellt. Aus der Tabelle geht hervor, daß
die unter der Nummer 2-13 aufgeführten Verbindungen dee Kobalts, Zinks, Cadmiums, Eisens und Mangans in der angegebenen
Konzentration bewirken, daß der für die durchgreifende AlIophanati
sierung rechnerisch ermittelte Wert von 27,7 i° NCO völlig
oder fast ganz erreicht wird, während in dem unter Nr. 1 aufgeführten Blindversuch ohne Katalysatorzusatz der NCO-Gehalt
trotz verlängerter Versuchsdauer nicht unter 34,9 $ sinkt. Wie aus den Infrarotspektren hervorging, enthielt keines der
erhaltenen Produkte isocyanurathaltige Beimengungen.

Claims (2)
- Patentansprüche;^erfahren zur Herstellung von Allophanatpolyisocyanaten mit mindestens einer aromatisch gebundenen Isocyanatgruppe durch Umsetzung von N-substitulerten Carbamidsäureestern mit organischen Mono- oder Polyisocyanaten mit aliphatisch oder aromatisch gebundenen Isocyanatgruppen, wobei Jedoch der N-substituierte Carbamidsäureester mindestens eine aromatisch gebundene Isocyanatgruppe aufweist und/oder die Reaktion unter Verwendung von mindestens zwei aromatisch gebundenen Isocyanatgruppen aufweisenden Polyisocyanaten erfolgt in Gegenwart von alkylierend wirkenden Verbindungen gemäß Hauptpatent .... ... (Patentanmeldung P 20 09 179.6), dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Umsetzung in Gegenwart von in den Mono- oder Polyisocyanaten löslichen Metallverbindungen von Metallender III. oder IV. Hauptgruppe oder der II., VI., VII oderVIII.-Nebengruppe des Periodischen Systems der Elemente erfolgt,
