Description
- Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft Clathrate, kristalline Solvate, von Bis-[6-hydroxy-4-methyl-5-(3-methylimidazolium-1-yl)-3-(phen-4-ylazo)-pyridin-2-on]ethylen mit Aromaten der allgemeinen Formel I in der
R1 C1-C5-Alkyl, C1-C5-Hydroxyalkyl, C1-C5-Alkoxy, C1-C5-Hydroxyalkoxy, C1-C10-Alkyl, das durch 1, 2 oder 3 nicht benachbarte Sauerstoffatome unterbrochen ist und gegebenenfalls mit Hydroxy substituiert ist, C1-C10-Alkoxy, das durch 1, 2 oder 3 nicht benachbarte Sauerstoffatome unterbrochen ist und gegebenenfalls mit Hydroxy substituiert ist, C1-C6-Alkanoyl, Hydroxy, Carboxy, C1-C6-Alkoxycarbonyl, Phenylcarbonyl oder C1-C6-Alkenyl und
R2 einen Rest R1, Wasserstoff oder Phenoxy bedeutet,
ein Verfahren zu ihrer Herstellung sowie ihre Verwendung zur Herstellung von Formulierungen des Farbstoffs. - Kationische Farbstoffe sind in der Regel schwache Basen und daher in wäßrigen basischen Lösungsmitteln oft schlecht löslich. Dies macht man sich bei der Synthese kationischer Azofarbstoffe zunutze, indem man die durch saure Kupplung erhaltene Farbstofflösung alkalisch stellt, den Farbstoff ausfällt und von der Reaktionslösung filtriert. In der EP-A-482 508 wird diese Vorgehensweise für die Herstellung von Bis-[6-hydroxy-4-methyl-5-(3-methylimidazolium-1-yl)-3-(phen-4-ylazo)-pyridin-2-on]ethylen beschrieben. Die Reindarstellung dieses Chromophors ist jedoch nicht möglich, da ein nahezu unfiltrierbares Gel erhalten wird.
- Daher war es Aufgabe der vorliegenden Erfindung, eine kristalline Form des Chromophors zur Verfügung zu stellen, die eine Reindarstellung ermöglicht.
- Demgemäß wurden die obengenannten Clathrate sowie ein Verfahren zu ihrer Herstellung gefunden.
- Alle in der obengenannten Formel I als Reste R1 oder R2 auftretenden Alkylgruppen können sowohl geradkettig als auch verzweigt sein.
- Substituierte Alkylreste weisen vorzugsweise 1, 2 oder 3 Substituenten, insbesondere 1 oder 2 Substituenten in beliebiger Position auf.
- Alkylreste, die durch Sauerstoffatome unterbrochen sind, weisen bevorzugt 1 oder 2 Sauerstoffatome auf.
- Soweit die genannten Reste zwei oder mehrere Substituenten aufweisen, können diese gleich oder verschieden sein.
- Reste R1 und R2 sind z.B. Methyl, Ethyl, Propyl, Isopropyl, Butyl, Isobutyl, sec-Butyl, tert-Butyl, Pentyl, Isopentyl, Neopentyl, tert.-Pentyl, Methoxy, Ethoxy, Propoxy, Isopropoxy, Butoxy, Pentyloxy, 2-Methoxyethyl, 2-Ethoxyethyl, 2-Propoxyethyl, 2-Isopropoxyethyl, 2-Butoxyethyl, 2- oder 3-Methoxypropyl, 2- oder 3-Ethoxypropyl, 2- oder 3-Propoxypropyl, 2- oder 3-Butoxypropyl, 2- oder 4-Methoxybutyl, 2- oder 4-Ethoxybutyl, 2- oder 4-Propoxybutyl, 3,6-Dioxaheptyl, 3,6-Dioxaoctyl, 4,8-Dioxanonyl, 3,7-Dioxaoctyl, 3,7-Dioxanonyl, 4,7-Dioxaoctyl, 4,7 Dioxanonyl, 2- oder 4-Butoxybutyl, 4,8-Dioxadecyl, 3,6,9-Tioxadecyl, 3,6,9-Trioxaundecyl, Hydroxymethyl, 2-Hydroxyethyl, 2- oder 3-Hydroxypropyl, 2-Hydroxyethyloxy, 2-(2-Hydroxyethyloxy)ethyl, 3-(2-Hydroxyethyloxy)propyl, 3-(4-Hydroxybutyloxy)propyl, Formyl, Acetyl, Propionyl, Butyryl, Pentanoyl, Hexanoyl, Methoxycarbonyl, Ethoxycarbonyl, Propoxycarbonyl, Isopropoxycarbonyl, Butoxycarbonyl, Pentyloxycarbonyl, Hexyloxycarbonyl, Vinyl oder Allyl.
- Aromaten der allgemeinen Formel I sind allgemein bekannt. Hierunter fallen handelsübliche Stoffe wie Salicylsäure, Phenol, Resorcin, 2-Phenoxyethanol, Phenylethanol, Benzylalkohol, Toluol, Acetophenon, Benzoesäure, Benzoesäuremethylester, Anisol, Benzophenon, Xylol, 4-Methoxybenzylalkohol, 4-Methoxybenzaldehyd, 2-Hydroxyacetophenon und 4-Hydroxyacetophenon.
- Bevorzugt werden Hydroxybenzole, Hydroxyalkylbenzole und Benzolcarbonsäuren sowie ihre Ester.
- Besonders bevorzugt werden Clathrate mit Phenylethanol, Resorcin, Toluol, Phenol, Benzolsäuremethylester, Salicylsäure, Benzolsäure, Acetophenon und insbesondere 2-Phenoxyethanol oder Benzylalkohol als eingelagertem Solvens.
- Die erfindungsgemäßen Clathrate werden durch Behandlung der wässrigen Farbstofflösung mit einem oder mehreren Aromaten der allgemeinen Formel I im Basischen erhalten. Bevorzugt werden die Clathrate durch Zusatz eines einzelnen Aromaten I hergestellt. Vorteilhaft wird die direkt durch saure Azokupplung erhaltene wässrige Lösung im Basischen umgesetzt.
- Unter basisch sind pH-Werte von 8–14, bevorzugt 10–13, zu verstehen, die mit herkömmliche Basen erzielt werden. Im hieran angrenzenden neutralen Bereich bis pH 6 sind Clathrate erhältlich, jedoch unter Ausbeuteeinbußen. Geeignete anorganischen Basen sind die Hydroxide, Oxide und basischen Salze von Alkali- und Erdalkalimetallen, wie Natriumhydroxid, Kaliumhydroxid, Natriumoxid, Kaliumoxid, Magnesiumoxid, Kaliumcarbonat, Magnesiumcarbonat, Lithiumcarbonat und Natriumcarbonat.
- Dabei hat die Reihenfolge der Zugabe von Base und Aromat auf die entstehenden Clathrate keinen Einfluß. Da sich jedoch bei Zusatz von Base ein Teil des Farbstoffs als Gel absondert, ist es vorteilhaft die aromatische Verbindung zuerst zuzusetzen.
- Die Bildung der Clathrate findet bereits bei Raumtemperatur statt. Der Bildungsprozeß kann allerdings durch Erwärmung vorzugsweise auf Temperaturen im Bereich von 40–100°C, bevorzugt 70–90°C, beschleunigt und verbessert werden. Die Erwärmung fördert die Bildung gut filtrierbarer Kristalle.
- Bereits ab einem Erwärmungszeitraum über 30 min werden gute Ergebnisse erzielt. In der Regel wird über einen Zeitraum von 1 bis 4 h erwärmt, um die Ausbeute zu optimieren, Längere Erwärmungszeiten haben auf die Vollständigkeit des Umsatzes keinen spürbaren Einfluß.
- Eine gleichmäßige Durchmischung, beispielsweise durch Rühren, ist vorteilhaft, jedoch nicht notwendig.
- 1 Mol Farbstoff werden in der Regel mit mindestens äquimolarer Menge bevorzugt bis 3,5 molarer Menge an Aromat der Formel I umgesetzt. Vorzugsweise wählt man auf 1 Mol Farbstoff 1,4–2,5 Mol, insbesondere 1,6–2,1 Mol, eines Aromaten I. Ein größerer Überschuß beispielsweise 5 Mol hat keinen Einfluß auf die Zusammensetzung des Clathrat, da vermutlich nur 1:1 Clathrate gebildet werden und somit eine bestimmte Anzahl von Lücken in Kristallgitter zur Verfügung steht. Eine Obergrenze ist in jedem Fall durch das Lösen des Farbstoffs im Aromaten der Formel I gegeben. Geringere Mengen z.B. bis zu 0,8 Mol haben eine unvollständige Einlagerung also Fehlstellen zur Folge, jedoch bilden sich noch kristalline Strukturen aus. Unterschiedliche molare Verhältnisse können verschiedene Kristallmodifikationen zur Folge haben, die jedoch ebensogut handhabbar sind.
- Die Farbstoffkonzentration hat auf die sich bildenden Clathrate lediglich den Einfluß, daß starke Verdünnungen die Reaktion verlangsamen. In einer bevorzugten Ausführungsform werden die Clathrate ausgehend von einer 2–10 Gew.-%igen wässrigen Farbstofflösung gebildet.
- In einer bevorzugten Ausführungsform wird die durch saure Kupplung erhaltene 2–10 Gew.-%ige wässrige Farbstofflösung mit äquimolarer bis 3,5 molarer Menge eines Aromaten der Formel I umsetzt und anschließend mit einer anorganischen Base ein pH-Wert zwischen 8–14 einstellt. Danach erhitzt man für 0,5–5 h auf 40–100°C. Nach Abkühlen auf Raumtemperatur trennt man die Kristalle z.B. durch Filtrieren oder Zentrifugieren ab und wäscht sie vorzugsweise mit Wasser.
- Da man die Clathrate eines aufgrund seiner Imidazoliumreste kationischen Farbstoffs im basischen herstellt, liegt es im Kristall vermutlich mit einem Gegenion, hier OH⊝, vor. Denkbar wäre jedoch auch für die nach dem oben geschilderten Verfahren erhältlichen Kristalle, daß der Farbstoff eine Betainstruktur hat.
- Die erfindungsgemäßen Clathrate sind nach Abkühlen gut filtrier- und waschbar. Sie eignen sich zur Einstellung von Flüssigformulierung des Farbstoffs. Die kristalline Form ermöglicht eine gezielte Dosierung und die Einstellung konzentrierter stabiler Formulierungen wie beispielsweise in der EP-A-482 508 beschrieben. Ferner eignen sie sich zur Herstellung von Granulaten oder Pulvern.
- Die erfindungsgemäßen Clathrate ergeben reine und brilliante Färbungen mit guten Echtheiten beim Färben oder Bedrucken von polymerem Material. Unter letzterem sind Cellulose, Baumwolle, Leder, Bastfasern, Hanf, Flachs, Sisal, Jute, Kokos, Stroh und vor allem Papierstoffe zu verstehen. Genaue Angaben zur Anwendung sind in der EP-A-482 508 bereits zum Chromophor gemacht werden und sind natürlich auf die Clathrate zu übertragen.
- Die nachfolgenden Beispiele sollen die vorliegende Erfindung näher erläutern.
- Beispiel 1
- Ein Gemisch bestehend aus 10,6 g (0,05 mol) 4,4'-Diaminodibenzyl, 123,4 g Wasser und 26 g 38 Gew.-%iger Salzsäure (0,27 mol HCl) wurde mit 100 g Eis versetzt und bei 0–5°C mit 30 ml einer 23 Vol%igen (0.1 mol Natriumnitrit) Natriumnitrit-Lösung tetrazotiert. Anschließend wurde die kalte Lösung zu einer wäßrigen Lösung von 24,1 g (0,1 mol) 3-(N-Methylimidazolium)-4-methyl-6-hydroxy-2-pyridonchlorid in 270 g Wasser getropft. Durch Zugabe von 50–100 g Eis wurde die Temperatur auf 0–10°C und der pH-Wert durch Zugabe von verdünnter wässriger Natronlauge auf pH 3–5 gehalten. Nach vollständiger Kupplung wurde bei Raumtemperatur mit 11 g (0,08 mol) 2-Phenoxyethanol versetzt und der pH-Wert mit verdünnter Natronlauge auf 10–12 gestellt. Danach wurde auf 70–90°C erhitzt und 1–2 h bei dieser Temperatur nachgerührt. Nach dem Abkühlen wurde der Niederschlag filtriert. Der Presskuchen zeigte sehr gute Saug- und Wascheigenschaften.
- Im Röntgenbeugungsdiagramm (Cu-Kα-Strahlung) der Kristalle wurden Linien bei folgenden Beugungswinkeln 2Θ(°) erhalten:

- Die Lösung des Clathrats in 30 Gew.-%iger Essigsäure hat ein Absorptionsmaximum (λmax) von 442 nm und färbt Papier in grünstichig gelben Tönen.

Claims (9)
- Clathrate von Bis-[6-hydroxy-4-methyl-5-(3-methylimidazolium-1-yl)-3-(phen-4-ylazo)-pyridin-2-on]ethylen mit Aromaten der allgemeinen Formel I in der R1 C1-C5-Alkyl, C1-C5-Hydroxyalkyl, C1-C5-Alkoxy, C1-C5-Hydroxyalkoxy, C1-C10-Alkyl, das durch 1, 2 oder 3 nicht benachbarte Sauerstoffatome unterbrochen ist und mit Hydroxy substituiert sein kann, C1-C10-Alkoxy, das durch 1, 2 oder 3 nicht benachbarte Sauerstoffatome unterbrochen ist und mit Hydroxy substituiert sein kann, C1-C6-Alkanoyl, Hydroxy, Carboxy, C1-C6-Alkoxycarbonyl, Phenylcarbonyl oder C1-C6-Alkenyl und R2 einen Rest R1, Wasserstoff oder Phenoxy bedeutet.
- Clathrate nach Anspruch 1 mit 2-Phenoxyethanol oder Benzylakohol als Aromat.
- Verfahren zur Herstellung von Clathraten gemäß Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man die wässrige Farbstofflösung mit einem Aromaten der allgemeinen Formel I im Basischen umsetzt.
- Verfahren nach Anspruch 3, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man ein Mol Farbstoff mit 1 bis 3,5 Mol eines Aromaten der Formel I umsetzt.
- Verfahren nach Anspruch 3 oder 4, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man nach Zugabe der Aromaten I einen basischen pH-Wert einstellt.
- Verfahren zur Herstellung von Clathraten nach den Ansprüchen 3 bis 5, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man die Mischung von Farbstoff und Aromaten I auf Temperaturen im Bereich von 40 bis 100°C erwärmt.
- Verwendung der Clathrate gemäß Anspruch 1 zur Herstellung von Flüssigformulierungen des Farbstoffs.
- Verwendung der Clathrate gemäß Anspruch 1 zur Herstellung von Granulaten oder Pulvern.
- Verwendung der Clathrate gemäß Anspruch 1 zum Färben oder Bedrucken von polymerem Material.
