Verfahren zur Herstellung von Mischpolymerisaten sowie deren
Verwendung in Destillatölen
Die vorliegende Erfindung bezieht sich auf Mischpolymerisat©
mit Äthylenkettenmolekttlen, ferner auf DestillatOlmiaohungen,
welche diese Mischpolymerisate enthalten und auf ein verbessertes Verfahren *ur Herstellung dieser
Mischpolymerisate, die als Plieflpvmktaemiedriger und
als Zusatzmittel zur Verbesserung der Fllefeigensehaften
des Destillatöls verwendet werden können, wobei alt de«
erflndungsgemKssen Verfahren die verzweigtenXthylenketten
verringert werden. Das erflndungsgaarilsse Verfahren beruht
auf der radikallsohen Polynerisation in eine« Lösungsmittel
bei Temperaturen unter 1500C Die Mischpolymerisate
enthalten etwa 3 bis 40 Molanteile Xthyleneono«er· Je
Holanteil eine· anderen ungeelttlgten MonomerenMit einea
durohsöhnlttllohen MolekulargewIaht im Bereioh von etwa
1 000 bis 50 000 und vorzugsweise von! 000 bis 2 900·
Die wlrtsohaftlieh wichtigsten Flielpunktsemiedriger
und Zusätze zur Verbesserung der Fließeigenschaft en für
pestlllatöl sind Mischpolymerisate des Äthylens mit
Vthyleniseh ungesättigten monomeren Estern« wie Miachpolymerlsate
des Äthylens ait Vinylalkoholeatem, insbesondere
mit Vinylacetat. Diese Mischpolymerisate werden

Monomer«, bei denen. R1 Wasserstoff und R2 und R* die
-COCR^-Reste sind, sind unter anderem Mono« und Diester
von ungesättigten Dicarbonsäuren wie Mono-C^-oxofumarat,
Di-Cj^-oxofumarÄt, Dlleopropylmaleat,, Dl-laurylfumarat
oder Äthylmethylfuraarat.
Wie bereite erwähnt» können 3 bis Ao Mol Ethylen je Mol
des anderen Monomeren verwendet werden, wobei dieses
P andere Monomere vorzugsweise einer der oben erwähnten
Ester oder eine Mischung von etwa 50 bis 99 Mol % Ester
und 70 bis 1 Mol J6 eines verzweigten oder geradkettlgen

Mengen des ungesättigten Esters kontinuierlich oder zumindest während der Umsetzung periodisch in das Gtefäss
gegeben. Bei kontinuierlicher Zugabe erhält man ein homogeneres Mischpolymerisat, als wenn man den gesamten ungesättigten
Ester bei Beginn der Umsetzung zusetzt. Während der Umsetzung wird Xthylen verbrauoht, so dass weiteres
Xthylen über ein Druckregulierventil zugeführt und der gewünschte Reaktionsdruok jederzeit nahezu konstant gehalten

Gewöhnlich werden auf 100 Gewichtsteile erzeugtes Mischpolymerisat
etwa 100 bis 600 Qewlehtstelle Lösungsmittel
und etwa 0,1 bis 30 und vorzugsweise 1 bis 20 Gewichtsteile Katalysator eingesetzt.
Als Lösungsmittel kann ein beliebiges» nicht reagierendes organisches Lösungsmittel verwendet werden» welches
eine Umsetzung In flüssiger Phase ermöglicht, den Katalysator
nicht vergiftet und die Reaktion nicht stört· Beispielswelse
können als Lösungsmittel Kohlenwasserstoffe mit 5 bis 10 Kohlenstoffatomen verwendet werden, und zwar
sowohl aromatische Kohlenwasserstoffe, wie Benzol und Toluol, aber auch allphatisohe Kohlenwasserstoffe, wie
n-Heptan, η-Hexan, n-Ootan oder Isooctanj ferner können
cycloaliphatische Kohlenwasserstoffe, wie Cyelohexen oder Cyolopentan, verwendet werden· Man kann auoh polare
Lösungsmittel, wie Kydrooarbylester mit 4 bis 10 Kohlenstoffatomen,
wie Äthyl ac et at, Methylbutyrat und dergleichen, oder andere polare Lösungsmittel, wie Aceton
oder Dloxon verwenden· Die obigen Lösungsmittel können
allein oder In Mischung verwendet werden« wobei man im
allgemeinen weniger aromatische Lösungsmittel einsetzt, da diese niedrigere Ausbeuten an Polymeren je eingesetztem Katalysator ergeben; die anderen oben erwähnten
Lösungsmittel und insbesondere Cyolohexan werden bei radikalischen Katalysatoren bevorzugt«
Pie Reaktionstemperatur liegt in einem Bereich von 70 bis 130 und vorzugsweise von 80 bis 0

Als Katalysatoren werden solche Produkte verwendet« die sioh bei den oben erwähnten ReaktionstemperAturen sehr
sobnell zersetzen und die beispielsweise eine Halbwertszeit
von 1 Stunde oder weniger bei 1300C besitzen. I»
allgemeinen gilt dieses für Aoylperoxyde von verzweigten
oder unversweigten Carbonsäuren mit 2 bis 18 Kohlenetoffatomen,
wie beispielsweise Diacetylperoxyd mit
einer Halbwertszeit von 1,1 Stunden bei 850C, Dipropionylperoxyd
mit einer Halbwertszeit von 0,7 Stunden bei 85 C, Dlpelargonylperoxyd mit einer Halbwertszeit von
0,25 Stunden bei 80°C und Dilauroylperoxyd mit einer
Halbwertszeit von 0,1 Stunden bei 1000C. Die niederen
Peroxyde wie Diacetyl- und Dipropionylperoxyd werden weniger bevorzugt» da sie stoßempfindlich sind, so dass
demzufolge höhere Peroxyde wie Dllauroylperoxyd bevorzugt werden. Katalysatoren mit einer kurzen Halbwertszeit
sind ferner verschiedene Azo-Katalysatoren wie
Azodilsobutyronltrll mit einer Halbwertszelt von 0,12 Stunden
bei 1000C, Azobis-2-methyl-heptonitril und Azobls-2-nethyl-valeronltrll·
Demgegenüber hat das bislang bei Ähnlichen Umsetzungen verwendete Di-tert.-butylpercocyd
eine Halbwertszelt von 180 Stunden bei 100°C und von
7 Stunden bei 1200C, so dass es im vorliegenden Fall
erflndungsgeniKse nicht erfasst wird.
Die bei den erflndungsgemässen Verfahren verwendeten
Drucke liegen In einem Bereich von 25 bis 2 100 atU,
Jedoch reichen in» allgemeinen niedere Drucke von 50 bis 210 atO bei Verwendung von Vinylestern wie Vinylacetat
aus· Bei weniger reaktionsfreudigen Estern, wie Methyl·«
methaorylat kann bei etwas höheren Drucken, zum Beispiel zwischen 200 und 700 atti gearbeitet werden, da hler
optimalere Ergebnisse erreicht werden. Im allgemeinen soll der Druck ausreichen, die flüssige Phase unter den

betreffenden Reaktionsbedingungen flüssig und die gewtsxscate

Dl· Reaktionszeit hangt von der Reaktionstemperatur,
der Wahl des Katalysators und den verwendeten Druck ab. Sn allgeaelaen 1st die Umsetzung nach 0,5 bis 10 und gewöhn!
loh nach 2 bis 5 Stunden beendet.
Die erfindungsgeraJtssen Polymerisate werden »eist In Mengen von 0,001 bis 2 Gew»£ und im allgemeinen In Mengen
von 0,005 bis etwa 0,5 Qe*.£ den Destlllatölen zugesetzt.
Die sur Verringerung des Fließpunkte mit des erfindungsgealssen
Polymerisat behandelten Deatlllatöle sind unter anderem gekrackte und natOrllohe Destillatöle alt einem
Sledebereloh von 120 bis 4000C, wie Heizöl und Dieselöl
und ferner Sohnieröl. Ferner können die erfindungsgemBssen
Polymerisate auch zur Entparaffinierung leichter Destillatsohmieröle eingesetzt werden.
Die erflnrtungsgsmHssen Polymerisate können alleine als
einsiges Zusatzalttel oder in Kombination mit anderen
Zusetzen, wie beispielsweise mit anderen PlleSpunktserniedrlgern
oder EntparafflnierungszusKtzen, Korroaions«
lnblbltoren, Antiooqrdantien und Mitteln zur Verhinderung
der Sehlammbildung verwendet werden.
Ein DreirXriter-Rührautoklav wurde alt 1 000 ml Benzol als
Lösungsmittel und 50 ml Vinylacetat beschickt, danach mit Stickstoff und anschließend mit Äthylen gespült. Der
Autoklav wurde bei der unter Druck erfolgenden Zufuhr von Äthylen auf 1050C erhitzt, bis sieh ein Druck von 63,3 attl

einstellte« Unter Beibehaltung dieser Temperatur und
dieses Druckes wurden Je Stunde 120 ml Vinylacetat und
100 ml einer Lösung aus 23 0ew.£ DiIauroylperoxyd, gelöst
in 77 Oew.Jf Benzol, kontinuierlich und glelohmSsslg in
den Autoklaven gepumpt· Bs wurden Um Verlaufe von 2 Stunden
und 25 Minuten insgesamt 290 ml .Vinylacetat eingespritzt,
wShrend 250 ml der Peroxydlösung beziehungsweise 59*3 £ Perooqrd Im Verlaufe von 2 Stunden und
35 Minuten seit Beginn der Injektion zugegeben wurden· Nachdem das gesamte Peroatyd eingespritzt war, wurde der
Ansatz weitere 10 Minuten bei 1050C belassen, ansehliessend
wurde die Temperatur auf 6O0C abgesenkt, das ReaktionegefKd
entlüftet und der Inhalt aus dem Rührautoklaven ausgetragen. Der leere Reaktor wurde mit 1 Liter warmem
Benzol von etwa 500C gespült und diese Spttlflüssigkeit
wurde dem Produkt zugesetzt. Das Lösungsmittel und nicht umgesetzte Monomeren wurden Über Nafcnt auf einem Dampfbad
duroh Durchblasen von Stickstoff abdestilliert; das derart erhaltene Bndprodukt bestand aus 415 g eines Mischpolymerisates
aus Äthylen und Vinylacetat*
Bs wurde analog Beispiel 1 gearbeitet, wobei Jedoch mit
verschiedenen Zuführgeschwindigkeit» und Injektionszeiten gearbeitet wurde, die in der folgenden Tabelle 1
angegeben sind,

•In anderes Mischpolymerisat hergestellt; die Reaktionstemperatur betrug Jedoch 829C und der Druok 52,7 attt. Der

Es wurden 5 Ansätze eines Polymerisates jeweils auf gleiche Weise hergestellt» wobei die Produkte zu einem
einheitlichen Qemiaoh vereint wurden. Diese einzelnen

den Kaltfllter-Verstopfungapunkt. In jeden Fall kämen die
Öle mit den erf lndungsgeniissen Mischpolymerisaten durch
ein feines Sieb bei erheblieh niedrigerer Temperatur durchtreten
als bei Verwendung eines Polymerisates A. Dieses zeigt» dass sieh kleinere Par äff in teilchen bilden, wenn
das Ol mit den erflndungsgemSssen ZusMtzen behandelt wird.
Die Produkte der-Beispiel· 1 bis 4 geben besser« PlieS-H
eigenschaften bei niedrigeren Temperaturen als das handels-Ctblleae
Polymerisat Aj sie sind auoh in vielen Ftllen viel
wirksamer bei der FlleSpunktserniedrigung.
Magnetische Resonanzuntersuehungen zeigten, dass das
Polymerisat A etwa 12 Methylreste je 100 Methylengruppe
enthält» während das Mischpolymerisat gemäss Beispiel 1
bis 4 etwa nur j5* 5 Methylreste je 100 Methylengruppen
besitzt,. Vernachlässigt man die Methyl-Sidgruppen an den
Endstellen des Polymeren, so hat das Mischpolymerisat gemüse Erfindung etwa 2 mit Methylresten endende Seitenketten»
während das Polymerisat A etwa 10 bis 11 mit Methyl endende Seitenketten besitzt. Diese Verzweigung erfasst
" nicht die Methylgruppen des Vinylacetat ester des Moleküle,
sondern nur die Verzweigungen des PolyKthylenkettenmoleküls·
Bs wurden mehrere ftthylen/Vlnylaoetat-Mlsohpoly&ierisato
analog Beispiel 1, jedoch unter verschiedenen Reaktionebedingungen
und mit verschiedenen Katalysatoren hergestellt* Die erhaltenen Mischpolymerisate wurden dann in
den folgenden Destillatölen untersucht.

Diese Ölmischungen Bit einem Gehalt an Polymerisat wurden
auf die Fließpunktserniedrigung nach ASTM, auf den KaItfilter-Veratopftmgepunkt
und auf ihre Fließfähigkeit untersuoht· Der Fließfihigkeiteteat besteht darin» dass
nan 40 ml öl in eine Vorrichtung in For» eines Stunden-·
glaeea einbringt» wobei die oberen und unteren Bereiche
durch eine öffnung »it einem Durchmesser von etwa 2,25 mm
verbunden sind« Der untere Bereich wird mit einer dünnen Alumlnlumsoheibe abgedeckt. Bas öl in dem Versuchsger&t
wird 2 Stunden in einem Kühlschrank aufbewahrt, dann umgedreht und 1 Minute zum Absetzen stehengelassen. Ansehliessend
wird die Aluminiumseheibe durchbohrt, so dass das öl von dem oberen Bereich durch die kleine
öffnung in den unteren Bereich fließen kann. Ein Durch«
gang 1st beendet, wenn 8q£ oder noch mehr öl innerhalb
von 2 Minuten oder weniger von der oberen Kammer in die
untere Kaaner fließt. Dieser Versuch wird so lange durchgeführt,
bis diese Zelt nicht mehr erreicht wird. Die unterste Temperatur, bei der dieser Versuch noch innerhalb
der angegebenen Zeit durchgeführt werden kann, stellt die Arbeltsgrenze dar.

Bs wurden verschiedene Xfehylen/Vinilaeetat-Mlsohpolyiseri-
«ate analog Beispiel 1 hergestellt, wobei Jedoch verschiedene
!lösungsmittel benutzt wurden. Es wurde festgestellt«
dass Cyclohexaa als Lösungsmittel eine vm aas
Doppelte größere Ausbeute an Misehpolymerisat als Benzol
ergibt. n-Keptan, η-Hexan, Xthylaeetat und Dioxan ergaben
ebenfalls höhere Ausbeuten an Misehpolymerisat als Benzol* wenn man entsprechende Mengen Dilauroylperoxyd als Katalysator verwendet. Di* Fllefipunktsuntersuohungen und die
Prüfungen auf den Kaltfilter-Verstopfungspunkt zeigten,
dass die Mischpolymerisate unabhängig von dem Lösungsmittel gleich wirksam waren. Da man mit Cyclohexan die
besten Ausbeuten erhält, wird dieses als bevorzugtes Lösungsmittel verwendet·

- Patentansprüche1* Verfahren zur Herstellung eines Äthylenmisohpolymerisates, durch radikal is ohe Katalyse zur Verringerung der Ätbyl«ftieitenketten, nobel das Mischpolymerisat •in duroheohnittHohes Molekulargewicht von 1 000 bis 2 900 hat und in wesentlichen aus etwa 3 bis ho Molteilen XtJhjrlen und etwa 1 NeIteil eines anderen Honoaeren besteht» das «in Ester oder Mischungen von 30 bis 99 MoIJi eines Eaters mit 60 bis 1 Mol£ eines OC -»Monoolefine mit 3 bis 16 Kohlenstoffatomen sein kanne und wobei der Ester die allgemeine FormelR1 Hι * tC "- 0t ι"2hat, in der K1 Wasserstoff oder ein Methylrest, eine -0OCR^ oder -COCR^-Grupp«, R- ein Wasserstof fatom oder ein· «COOR^-Oruppe und R^ ein Wasserstoffe atom oder ein Alkylrest mit 1 bis 16 Kohlenstoffatomen ist, dadurch- gekennzeichnet, dass man die Monomeren in einem Inerten Lösungsmittel bei Temperaturen von 70 bis 1300C unter Verwendung-eines Katalysators mit einerHalbwertszelt bei IJO0C von weniger als 1 Stunde radikaliseh nisohpolymerisiert.

- 3. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1 bis 2, dadurch gekenn« zeichnet, dass nan als Ester einen Vinylalkoholester einer Monocarbonsäure mit 2 bis 17 Kohlenstoffatomen oder Vinylacetat verwendet.

Verfahren nach Anspruch 1 bis 3# dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass man als Lösungsmittel einen Kohlenwasserstoff mit 4 bis 10 Kohlenstoffatomen, einen gesättigten aliphatischen Hydrooarbylester mit 4 bis10 Kohlenstoffatomen, Dloxan, einem aliphatischen geradkettigen Kohlenwasserstoff oder Cyelohexan verwendet.
- 5· Verfahren zum MischpolymerIsleren von etwa 3 bis Molteilen Äthylen je Molteil Vinylacetat zur Herstellung eines als Fließpunktseraiedriger geeigneten Mischpolymerisates mit weniger als 6 mit Methyl endenden Seitenketten Je 100 Methylenresten und einem Molekulargewicht von 1 000 bis 2 900, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass man Äthylen und Vinylacetat In einem Lösungsmittel bei Temperaturen von etwa 70 bis 1300C unter Verwendung von Dilauroylperoxydkatalysatoren mischpolymerisiert.

Ein Mischpolymerisat mit einest durchschnittlichen Molekulargewicht von 1 000 bis 2 900 und bestehend aus 3 bis 20 Molteilen Äthylen je Molteil Vinylacetat, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass etwa zwei mit Methyl endende Seitenketten je 100 Methylenresten ausser den Methylgruppen des Vinylacetats vorhanden sind, gemessen durch kernmagnet Ische Resonanz.9σ98Α5/157019U7567· Destillat-Erdöl mit einem Sledebereioh von 120 bis 40O0C1 welches etwa 0,001 bis 2 Qew«$ eines nach dem Verfahren gen&as Anspruch 1 bis 5 hergestellten Mlsohpolymerisatee als Krlstallttodiflslerungsalttel onthKlt und ein Molekulargewicht von 1 000 bis 50 000 besitzt.8· Des till atm nach Anspruch 7» dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das Mischpolymerisat 3 bis 20 Holteile Äthylen •nthllt und dass das andere Monomere ein Ester 1st.ueiwy909845/1670
