Description
Gegenstand der Erfindung ist ein Verfahren zur Gewinnung von Alkoholen aus einem bei der Herstellung
von Oxiranverbindungen durch katalytische Umsetzung von Olefinen mit organischen Hydroperoxiden
unter Bildung von Alkoholen als Nebenprodukt erhaltenen Epoxidationsreaktionsgemisch, wobei man
das Reaktionsgemisch vor der Gewinnung des als Nebenprodukt gebildeten Alkohols mit einem basischen
Material versetzt und bei etwa 10 bis 2000C damit behandelt.
Die Herstellung von Oxiranen durch Umsetzen von Olefinen mit Organohydroperoxiden in Gegenwart von
Metallepoxidierungskatalysatoren bei vorzugsweise erhöhter Temperatur und überatmosphärischem Druck in
flüssiger Phase ist bekannt. Einzelheiten hierüber gehen beispielsweise aus DT-OS 15 68 744, DT-PS 15 68 790
und DT-OS 16 18 488 hervor. Während dieser Umsetzungen oxidiert das Organohydroperoxid das Olefin
zum Olefinoxid und wird selbst in den entsprechenden Alkohol überführt. Die dabei erhaltenen Reaktionsmischungen
werden zur Gewinnung des gewünschten Olefinoxids und des als Nebenprodukt gebildeten
Alkohols destillativ oder durch andere Verfahren aufgearbeitet. Während dieser Aufarbeitung dehydratisiert
der Alkohol zum entsprechenden Olefin. Diese Dehydratisierung des Alkohols ist unerwünscht, da das
entstandene Olefin häufig sehr schwer von den anderen Bestandteilen abzutrennen ist und unter den Aufarbeitungsbedingungen
unter Bildung sehr störender polymerer Verunreinigungen gerne polymerisiert. Die
Dehydratisierung vermindert außerdem die Ausbeuten an Alkohol, der ein gewinnbares Nebenprodukt
darstellt.
Neben der obigen Dehydratisierung liegt eine andere Schwierigkeit bei den genannten Epoxidierungsverfahicn
in der Neigung der entstandenen Oxirane zur
weiteren Umsetzung und /ur Bildung von Nebenprodukten,
die das jeweilige Oxiran zu /ersetzen vermögen und infolge ihres korrosiven Charakters bisher die
Verwendung von Vorrichtungen aus korros.ionsbestan-■>
digem Stahl erforderlich gemacht haben.
Zur Minimalhaltung einer Zersetzung des Oxiruns und einer Dehydratisierung des Alkohols müssen
Gewinnung und Reinigung des Oxirans und des als Nebenprodukt entstandenen Alkohols bisher bei verhältnismüßig
niederen Temperaturen (Kühlung) und Drücken (Vakuum) durchgeführt werden, was mit
bekannten Nachteilen verbunden ist.
In der älteren DT-PS 15 43 027 wird ein Verfahren
zur Gewinnung des Alkohols aus einer Sumpffraktion,
I^ die bei der Epoxidierung einer olefinischen Verbindung
mit einem organischen Hydroperoxid in Gegenwart von Metallepoxidierungskatalysatoren nach Abtrennung
der Produkte und des Olefins erhalten worden ist, beschrieben, das durin Destcht, daß man das Produktgemisch
vor der Abtrennung und Gewinnung von in diesem Gemisch enthaltenem Alkohol beispielsweise
mil einem basischen Sioii versetzt und den Alkohol
dann durch Destillation des Gemisches gewinnt. Der Zusatz kleiner Mengen eines basischen Stoffes dient
hierbei allein dem Zweck, dem Reaktionsgemisch seine Azidität zu nehmen, wobei die sich daran anschließende
Aufarbeitung des Reaktionsgemisches einfach destillativ durchgeführt wird.
Aufgabe der Erfindung ist demgegenüber nun die

JO Schädling eines verbesserten Verfahrens zur Gewinnung
von Alkoholen aus entsprechenden Epoxidationsreaktionsgemischen, das die oben angeführten Nachteile
nicht kennt und bei dem es vor allem nur zu einer wesentlich geringeren Dehydratisierung des Alkohols
als bei den bekannten Gewinnungsverfahren kommt.
Die obige Aufgabe läßt sich beim Verfahren der eingangs genannten Art überraschenderweise erfindungsgemäß
dadurch lösen, daß man das Reaktionsgemisch mit einer zur Entfernung von praktisch dem
4u gesamten Katalysator und zur Neutralisation eventuell
vorhandener saurer Nebenprodukte ausreichenden Menge einer wäßrigen Lösung eines basischen Materials
behandelt, das erhaltene Gemisch in eine organische Phase und eine katalysatorhaltige wäßrige
Phase auftrennt und den jeweiligen Alkohol dann aus der organischen Phase gewinnt.
Die erfindungsgemäße Entfernung des gesamten Katalysators führt zu einer Verminderung des Ausmaßes
der Dehydratisierung des Alkohols um einen Faktor
w von etwa 50 bis 100, was einen bedeutenden Produktgewinn bringt. Gleichzeitig wird hierdurch die
Zersetzung des Oxirans auf ein Minimum beschränkt und das Aufarbeitungsverfahren wirtschaftlich günstigergestaltet.
Das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren eignet sich insbesondere für die Gewinnung von Propylalkohol aus bei
der Epoxidation von Propylen erhaltenen Epoxidationsrekationsgemischen. Es läßt sich allgemein jedoch auf
durch katalytische Epoxidation von Olefinen mit etwa 2
du bis 30 Kohlenstoffatomen, vorzugsweise wenigstens 3
Kohlenstoffatomen, erhaltene Reaktionsgemische anwenden. Einzelbeispiele entsprechender Olefine sind
dabei Äthylen, Propylen. n-Butylen, Isobutylen, die Pentene, die Methylpentene, die n-Hexene die Octene,
»Ί die Dodecene, Cyclohexen, Methylcyclohexen, Butadien,
Styrol, Methylstyrol, Vinyltoluol. Vinylcyclohexen und Phenylcyclohexene. Ferner können auch substitu
ierte Olefine mit Halogen-, Sauerstoff- oder Schwefel-
Mibstituenten verwende! werden, wie Allylalkohol.
Methallylalkohol, Cyclohexenol, Diallylälher, Meihylmethaerylal,
Methyloleat, Methylvinylketon oder Allylchlorid. Alle nach bekannten Verfahren epoxidierbaren
Olefine eignen sich somit auch zur Bildung von h'poxidierungsreaktionsgemischen, aus denen erfindungsgemäß
die jeweiligen Alkohole gewonnen werden können. Beispiele solcher Olefine sind Leinsamenöl,
Olivenöl, Sojabohnenöl, Baumwollsamenöl, Tallöl, Ricinusöl, Maisöl, Butylpolyglycolester ungesättigter Fettsäuren,
flüssiges oder festes Polybutadien, Polyisopren oder ungesättigte Copolymere von Äthylen einschließlich
dessen Terpolymeren mit Cyclopenladien. Bevorzugt werden Olefine mit 3 oder 4 Kohlenstoffatomen in
aliphatischer Kette insbesondere alpha-Olefine oder primäre Olefine.
Als Organoperoxide zur Bildung entsprechender Epoxidationsreaktionsgemische lassen sich allgemein
solche der Formel ROOH verwenden, worin R einen organischen Rest bedeutet. Vorzugsweise ist R ein
substituierter oder unsubstituierter Alkyl , Cycloalkyl-, Aralkyl-, Aralkenyl-, Hydroxyalkyl-, Cycloalkenyl-
oder Hydroxycycloalkylrest mit 3 bis 20 Kohlenstoffatomen. Beispielhafte und bevorzugte Hydroperoxide sind
Cumolhydroperoxid, Äthylbenzolhydroperoxid, tert.-Butylhydroperoxid, Cyclohexanonperoxid, Tetrahydronaphthalinhydroperoxid,
Methyläthylketonperoxid oder Methylcyclohexenhydroperoxid sowie die Hydroperoxide
von Toluol, p-Äthyltoluol, Isobutylbenzol,
Diisopropylbenzol, p-lsopropyltoluol, o-Xylol, m-Xylol,
p-Xylol oder Phenylcyclohexan. Es eignet sich ferner
auch das Peroxidprodukt, das durch Oxidation von Cyclohexanol mit molekularem Sauerstoff in flüssiger
Phase entsteht. Bevorzugt wird alpha-alpha-Dimethylbenzylhydroperoxid
bzw. alpha-Phenylälhylhydroperoxid.
Die zur Epoxidation unter Bildung des erfindungsgemäß aufzubereitenden Epoxidierungsreaktionsgemische
geeigneten Katalysatoren können als Katalysatoren übliche Metallverbindungen oder auch direkt die
jeweiligen feinverteilten Metalle sein, die sich in der jeweiligen Reaktionsmischung in katalytischer Menge
lösen. Die Menge des in Lösung befindlichen Metalls kann in weiten Grenzen schwanken. Zweckmäßigerweise
sollte diese Menge jedoch wenigstens 0,00001 Mol, vorzugsweise 0,002 bis 0,03 Mol, prol Mol vorhandenen
Hydroperoxids betragen. Als geeignete lösliche Katalysatoren eignen sich beispielsweise kohlsnwasserstofflösliche
Organometallverbindungen mit einer Löslich-
keit in Methanol bei Zimmertemperatur von wenigstens 0,1 g pro Liter, wie die Naphthenate, Stearate, Octoaie
oder Carbonyle. Verschiedene Chelate, Anlagerungsverbindungen und Enolsalze, wie Acetoacetonate,
können ebenfalls verwendet werden. Naphthenate und Carbonyle von Molybdän, Titan, Wolfram, Rhenium,
Niob, Tantal, Selen, Chrom, Zirkonium, Tellur und Uran werden bevorzugt. Alkoxyverbindungen, wie Tetrabutyltitanat,
sind ebenfalls geeignet.
Molybdän, Wolfram, Vanadium und Titan bilden eine besonders bevorzugte Untergruppe unter den genannten
Katalysatoren, da sich diese Katalysatoren besonders zur Epoxidation primärer Olefine, wie Propylen,
sowie aller anderen Olefine eignen.
Für die erfindungsgemäße Entfernung desKatalysators und zur Neutralisation saurer Nebenprodukte
geeignete basische Materialien sind beispielsweise die üblichen Alkalien, wie LiOH, NaOH, KOH, NH4OH,
Be(OH)2, Mg(OH)2 oder Ca(OH)2. Ferner eignen sich
auch die Oxide, Carbonate und Bicarbonate der Metalle der Gruppen I und Il des Periodensystems. Das basische
Material reagiert mit dem Katalysator und entfernt letzteren aus dem Epoxidationsreaktionsgemisch. Das
Reaktionsgemisch kann mit dem basischen Material in jeder üblichen oder zweckmäßigen Weise behandelt
werden. Die Konzentration der alkalischen Lösung kann nur etwa 0,001 normal sein. Sie isi vorzugsweise
jedoch etwa 0,1 - bis 2normal.
Die Behandlung des Epoxidierungsreaktionsgemisches mit dem basischen Material wird vorzugsweise bei
Temperaturen von etwa 25 bis etwa 1000C durchgeführt. Es hat sich als vorteilhaft erwiesen, einen Teil der
aus der Katalysatorentfernungsstufe austretenden basischen Lösung wieder in die Beschickung für die
Katalysatortrennstufe rückzuführen. Eine solche Kreislaufführung verbessert den Kontakt zwischen dem
Epoxidationsreaktionsgemisch und dem basischen Material und vermindert den Nettoverbrauch an basischem
Material. Der auf diese Weise abgetrennte Katalysator kann gewünschtenfalls selbstverständlich gewonnen
und rückgefOhrt werden.

Claims (3)
- Patentansprüche:i. Verfahren zur Gewinnung von Alkoholen aus einem bei der Herstellung von Oxiranverbindungen durch katülylische Umsetzung von Olefinen mit organischen Hydroperoxiden unter Bildung von Alkoholen als Nebenprodukt erhaltenen Epoxidationsreaktionsgemiseh, wobei man das Reaktionsgemisch vor der Gewinnung des als Nebenprodukt gebildeten Alkohols mit einem basischen Material versetzt und bei etwa 10 bis 2000C damit behandelt, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man das Reaktionsgcniisch mit einer zur Entfernung von praktisch dem gesamten Katalysator und zur Neutralisation eventuell vorhandener saurer Nebenprodukte ausreichenden Menge einer wässrigen Lösung eines basischen Materials behandelt, das erhaltene Gemisch in eine organische Phase und eine kaialysatorhaltige wäßrige Phase auftrennt und den jeweiligen Alkohol dann aus der organischen Phase gewinnt.
- 2. Verfahren nach Anspruch I, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man ein basisches Material verwendet, das ein Alkali- oder Erdalkalimetallhydroxid, -carbonat, -bicarbonat oder -oxid enthält.
- 3. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man als basisches Material eine organische Base verwendet.
