Description
- Verfahren zum Herstellen eines dichten Verschlusses an Beuteln aus Polyäthylen- oder ähnlichen schrumpffähigen thermoplastischen Kunststoffolien Zum Verbinden von thermoplastischen Folien sind verschiedene Verfahren bekannt, welche darauf be ruhen, daß die aufeinanderliegenden Folien unter Anwendung von Druck und Wärme miteinander verschweißt werden.
- Bei einem dieser bekannten Verfahren wird dies in der Weise durchgeführt, daß die zu verschweißenden Folien zwischen zwei Backen festgeklemmt und diese dann kurzzeitig beheizt werden, so daß die Folien im Bereich der Backen in den Schmelzzustand gelangen und sich miteinander verbinden. Bei der Abkühlung der im Klemmzustand verbleibenden Klemmbacken verfestigt sich diese Schmelzverbindung, bevor die Klemmbacken wieder zurückgezogen werden. Nach diesem Verfahren hergestellte Schweißnähte weisen vielfach nur einen Teil der Festigkeit auf, die jede einzelne der miteinander verschweißten Folien besitzt. so daß derartige Beutelverschlußnähte bei starker Beanspruchung häufig am Rand der Schweißnaht reißen. Dieser Nachteil ergibt sich dadurch, daß bei der Schweißung außer einer thermischen Schädigung des Materials auch eine gewisse Querschnittsschwächung infolge der Backenpressung auftritt.
- Ein weiteres Verfahren zur Herstellung von Schweißnähten an Beuteln aus thermoplastischen Folien besteht darin, daß die Folien mittels dauerbeheizter Preßbacken auf Schmelztemperatur erhitzt werden. Nach dem Entfernen der Preßbacken von der sich noch im Schmelzzustand befindlichen Naht schrumpft diese in ihrer Breite infolge der in den Folien »eingefroren« gewesenen Spannungen zusammen, so daß sich die Naht infolge des zusammengeschrumpften Materials verdickt. Der Querschnitt dieser Nahtverdickung wird damit größer als die Summe der Einzelquerschnitte der miteinander verbundenen Folien. Bei den nach diesem Verfahren hergestellten Nähten wird die thermische Schädigung des Materials durch die entstandene Querschnittsvergrößerung mehr oder weniger wieder wettgemacht.
- Sind jedoch die Folien vor dem Verschweißen an der Nahtstelle nicht einwandfrei sauber, sondern vom Füllen des Beutels her mit Füllgutpartikeln behaftet, so ergeben sich auch bei diesem Schweißverfahren Festigkeitsverluste an der Naht, da die Füllgutpartikeln in ihren Bereichen das Zusammenfließen der beiden Schichten behindern, wobei dieser Nachteil noch dadurch verstärkt wird, daß die Verfestigung der Naht ja erst nach dem Nachlassen des Preßdruckes, also nach dem Entfernen der Preßbacken durch Abkühlen an der Umgebungsluft, erfolgt und so die aus den Partikeln sich entwickelnden Dämpfe Lunkerstellen in der Naht bilden können.
- Um die Nachteile beim Verschließen von Beuteln aus den genannten Werkstoffen zu vermeiden, schlägt die Erfindung ein Verfahren zum Herstellen eines dichten Verschlusses an Beuteln aus Polyäthylen-oder ähnlichen schrumpffähigen thermoplastischen Kunststoffolien vor, bei dem die zusammengelegten Beutelwände entlang einer Nahtstelle erhitzt werden und ohne weitere Druckeinwirkung unter Schrumpfen sich verbinden, bei dem erfindungsgemäß ein Teil der verdickten Schrumpfnaht, insbesondere der zum Beuetlkopfende hin liegende Teil, in noch erwärmtem Zustand nachgepreßt wird.
- Durch diese Maßnahme wird, wie es Versuche bestätigen konnten, eine überraschend gute Festigkeit der Schließnähte von Beuteln aus den betreffenden Werkstoffen erzielt, auch wenn die zu verschweißenden Nahtzonen nicht einwandfrei sauber sind, wie dies nach dem Abfüllen von pulverigen Füllgütern durch den Einschluß von Füllgutpartikeln häufig der Fall ist, so daß bei Festigkeitsprüfungen der Beutel nicht mehr zuerst an der Naht reißt, sondern an einer beliebig anderen Stelle der Beutelwandung.
- Beim Verpacken solcher Füllgüter, deren Partikeln bei ihrer Erwärmung Dämpfe oder Gase entwickeln, so daß also die Gefahr besteht, daß sich innerhalb der Schweißnaht des Beutelverschlusses Gasblasen bilden, wird gemäß einem weiteren Merkmal der Erfindung vorgeschlagen, das Nachpressen unter gleichzeitiger kurzzeitiger Erwärmung der Nachpreßbacken, d. h. also nach Art der an sich bekannten Wärmeimpuls schweißung durchzuführen. Hierbei hat sich gezeigt, daß die beim vorhergehenden Schweißvorgang in der Naht entstandenen Gasbläschen in der Nachpreßzone verschwinden und so ebenfalls eine einwandfrei feste und dichte Schweißnaht erzielt werden kann.
- Bekannt sind Schweißvorrichtungen, bei denen wie üblich die gesamte Nahtstelle gegebenenfalls in Form von zwei getrennten, voneinander unabhängigen Teilen einer Doppelnaht zunächst erhitzt und dann unter Druck abgekühlt wird. Soweit es bekannt war, eine Schrumpfschweißnaht unter Wirkung eines nachgeordneten Kühlstempels erstarren zu lassen, soll in diesem Fall die gesamte Naht nachbehandelt werden.
- Damit wird aber offensichtlich nicht der Zweck der Erfindung erreicht, nämlich eine Verdickung der Naht an der Zone der höchsten Beanspruchung und eine sich an die Verdickung anschließende Zone besonders inniger Verschmelzung auszubilden. Die sich in letztgenannter Zone zwangläufig ergebende Querschnittsverminderung ist hier ohne weiteres ohne nachteilige Wirkung auf die Nahtfestigkeit, da die höchste Beanspruchung der Naht in der Zone der Verdickung auftritt.
- Das Verfahren der Erfindung wird an Hand einer schematischen Zeichnung erläutert.
- Fig. 1 bis 4 zeigen verschiedene Herstellungsstufen der Verschlußnaht im Querschnitt; Fig. 5 zeigt das Kopfende eines verschlossenen Beutels in schaubildlicher Ansicht.
- Zum Herstellen einer Verschlußschweißnaht an Beuteln aus thermoplastischen Kunststoffolien werden zunächst die über den Füllspiegel überstehenden Beutelwände L 2 in an sich bekannter Weise flach aneinandergelegt. Anschließend werden diese zusammenliegenden Teile der Beutelwände 5 2 mittels eines dauerbeheizten Schweißbackenpaares 3, 4, dessen Temperatur höher liegt als der Schmelzpunkt des zu verschweißenden Materials, gegeneinandergepreßt und erwärmt (Fig. 1). Nach dem Erreichen des Schmelzzustandes des zusammengepreßten Nahtbereiches werden die Schweißbacken 3, 4 wieder entfernt, so daß die gebildete Nahtverbindung sich zunächst kurzzeitig selbst überlassen bleibt. Hierbei schrumpft die sich noch im Schmelzzustand befindende Naht in ihrer Breite infolge der bei der Folienherstellung »eingefrorenen« Spannungen zusammen, wodurch sich der Nahtquerschnitt bei 6 verdickt (Fig. 2). Diese Schrumpfnaht 6, in der sich Lunker 5 infolge Staub einschluß od. dgl. befinden können, wird darauf in ihrer Breite etwa zur Hälfte, und zwar die obere, zum Beutelkopfende hin liegende Hälfte, in noch erwärmtem Zustand mittels eines Backenpaares 7, 8 nachgepreßt, so daß eine innige Verbindung des Materials der beiden Beutelwände 1, 2 in diesem Bereich geschaffen wird (Fig. 3 und 4).
- Bei dem dargestellten Ausführungsbeispiel sind beide Preßbacken 7, 8 in an sich bekannter Weise derart mit je einem Widerstandsband 9 versehen, daß durch einen kurzzeitigen Stromimpuls ein Wärme impuls auf die verpreßten Teile übertragen werden kann. Dies ist insbesondere dann wichtig, wenn die Beutelwände innen mit Staub behaftet sind, welcher bei der Erwärmung Dämpfe oder Gase entwickelt.
- Die Dampfbildung kühlt nämlich die Naht an den betreffenden Stellen durch Wärmeentzug ab, bevor eine Verbindung eingetreten ist. Durch eine zweite Aufheizung werden diese Stellen dann bei gleichzeitiger Pressung verschweißt und wieder abgekühlt, wobei sich eine dichte und feste Naht 10 bildet (Fig. 4).
- Bei dem in Fig. 5 dargestellten, nach dem oben beschriebenen Verfahren verschlossenen Beutel 11 ist der obere Teil 13 des Überstandes an Beutelwerkstoff oberhalb der Naht 6, 10 einmal umgefaltet und zusätzlich durch eine durch Schweißen hergestellte Naht 12 mit dem unteren Teil 14 dieses Überstandes verbunden. Außerdem ist bei dem dargestellten Beutel 11 der Verschluß in an sich bekannter Weise mit eingezogenen Seitenfalten 15, 16 ausgeführt.
Claims (3)
- PATENTANSPRÜCHE: 1. Verfahren zum Herstellen eines dichten Verschlusses an Beuteln aus Polyäthylen oder ähnlichen schrumpffähigen thermoplastischen Kunststoffolien, bei dem die zusammengelegten Beutelwände entlang einer Nahtstelle erhitzt werden und ohne weitere Druckeinwirkung unter Schrumpfen sich verbinden, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß ein Teil der verdickten Schrumpfnaht (6), insbesondere der zum Beutelkopfende hin liegende Teil, in noch erwärmtem Zustand nachgepreßt wird.
- 2. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß während der Nachpressung des genannten Teiles der Schrumpfnaht (6) auf den nachgepreßten Bereich ein Wärmeimpuls übertragen wird.
- 3. Verfahren nach Anspruch 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der oberhalb der Schrumpfnaht (6) befindliche Überstand des Beutelkopfes in bekannter Weise einmal umgefaltet und mit sich selbst durch eine zusätzliche Schweißnaht (12) verschweißt wird.In Betracht gezogene Druckschriften: Deutsche Auslegeschriften Nr. 1070090, 1 073 934; USA.-Patentschriften Nr. 2114624, 2253 036; Zeitschrift »Verpackungsrundschau«, Heft 11, 1959, 5. 626.
