Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zum miteinander Verbinden der Enden von außen mit einer Schicht aus thermoplastischem Kunststoff bedeckten Hohl- oder mit hohlen Enden versehenen Vollprofilen aus Metall (im nachfogenden »Metallprofile« genannt).
Insbesondere dient das Verfahren dazu, die thermoplastische Kunststoffschicht von Metallprofilen an Gehrangsschnitten oder anderen Knotenpunkten, beispielsweise T- oder Kreuzpunkten, zu Rahmenkonstruktionen jeder Art vollkommen korrosionsgeschützt stumpf ohne Zusatzmaterial zu verschweißen.
'Bislang konnten solche Knotenpunkte lediglich mittels Plastik-Schweißkolben mit aufgesetzten Spezialspitzen unter Zuhilfenahme von Schweißdraht als Zusatzmaterial in mühevoller Handarbeit verschweißt werden. Auch Verklebungen oder oberflächliche Hochfrequenzverschweißungen waren üblich. Diese Arten von geschweißten Verbindungen konnten jedoch bis jetzt nicht absolut fugendicht und einwandfrei mit der erforderlichen Festigkeit hergestellt werden.
Weiterhin sind auch Stumpfschweißverfahren für Profile aus thermoplastischen Kunststoffen, z. B. für Handläufe und Umleimer, bekannt, bei denen aber das Stumpfschweißen mittels eines üblichen Flachkolbens erfolgt, der durch keinen Profilkern behindert sein darf, wie er z. B. an Knotenpunkten od. dgl. durch ein die beiden Metallprofile überbrückendes Verbindungsstück gebildet wird.
Beim Verbinden von Profilen aus thermoplastischem Kunststoff durch Schweißen ist es auch bereits bekannt, die Profile in der Umgebung der miteinander zu verbindenden Enden einzuspannen, zwischen die Enden eine beheizte Platte zu bringen und die Enden an diese heiße Platte anzudrücken, wobei sie bis zur Erweichung erhitzt werden, anschließend die heiße Platte zu entfernen und die erweichten Enden gegeneinander zu pressen und die Verbindung abkühlen zu lassen.
Bei Rahmenkonstruktionen, zu denen Hohlprofile aus härtbaren Kunstharzpreßmassen verwendet werden, hat es noch als bekannt zu gelten, beim Verbinden der Hohlprofile, z. B. an den Ecken der Rahmen, die Verbindungsstelle überbrückende Verbindungsstücke in die Enden der miteinander zu verbindenden Profile zu stecken und sie durch Verkitten zu befestigen.
Um nun an Verbindungsstellen von außen mit einer Schicht aus thermoplastischem Kunststoff bedeckten Hohl- oder mit hohlen Enden versehenen Verfahren und Vorrichtung

Vollprofilen aus Metall ein einwandfreies miteinander Verschweißen der thermoplastischen Kunststoffschichten durchführen zu können, ist nach dem erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren vorgesehen, daß die Kunststoffschichten zum Überstehen über die Enden der Metallprofile gebracht werden, in die Enden der Metallprofile ein die Verbindungsstelle überbrückendes Verbindungsstück eingesteckt wird, die Stirnseiten der überstehenden Kunststoffschichten bis zur Erweichung erwärmt und hierauf die Profile bis zum Aneinanderliegen der Metallprofile an ihren Stirnseiten gegeneinandergepreßt werden.
Eine Vorrichtung zum Ausüben dieses Verfahrens besteht in bekannter Weise aus zwei oder mehreren sich gegenüberliegenden Einspannvorrichtungen für die miteinander zu verbindenden Profile und einer zwischen diesen bewegbaren Heizplatte sowie Steuermitteln für den Bewegungsablauf der Vorrichtungsteile. Eine solche Vorrichtung ist erfindungsgemäß dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Heizplatte geteilt ist und ihre Teile, einen Durchlaß für das die Verbindungsstelle überbrückende Verbindungsstück bildend, gegeneinander bewegbar sind.
Das Verfahren nach der Erfindung spielt sich im einzelnen so ab, daß, nachdem an der jeweiligen Geh-

rungs- bzw. Knotenpunktstelle der Metallprofil Überstände der Kunststoffschichten über die Enden ihrer Metallprofile hinaus erzeugt worden sind, Verbindungsstücke in die Metallprofile eingesteckt und mittels Spezialkleber zu einem geschlossenen Rahmen verklebt werden. (Ansonsten können die Verbindungsstücke nach erfolgtem Stumpfverschweißen der Kunststoffschichten auch genietet oder verschraubt werden.) Sodann werden zwischen die Metallprofile Heizplatten gegenläufig bewegt, die so gestaltet sein; müssen, daß sie das Profil des Verbindungsstückes genau passend umschließen und trotzdem wieder auseinandergeführt werden können. Dann werden die zu verschweißenden Enden der Kunststoffschichten gleichzeitig auf manuellem, mechanischem, hydraulischem oder elektrischem Wege gegen die geteilte Heizplatte gepreßt und bis zur Erweichung erwärmt. Nachdem die zeitlich genau gemessene Erwärmung der Enden der Kunststoffschichten in den schweißbaren Zustand stattgefunden hat, werden die Heizplatten auseinandergeführt und die Kunststoffschichten auf den Metallprofilen so weit gegeneinandergepreßt, bis letztere zusammenstoßen.
Auf diese Weise ist es möglich, thermoplastische Kunststoffschichten an Knotenpunkten od. dgl. vollständig durchzuschweißen und somit hier nahezu die gleiche Festigkeit zu erhalten wie an jeder anderen nicht geschweißten Stelle. Dieses Schweißverfahren ermöglicht dann, wenn die Metallprofile bis zum gegenseitigen Anschlagen zusammengeführt werden, eine bis jetzt selbst im Stahlrahmenbau nicht bekannte Präzision.

Claims (2)

Patentansprüche:
1. Verfahren zum miteinander Verbinden der Enden von außen mit einer Schicht aus thermoplastischem Kunststoff bedeckten Hohl- oder mit hohlen Enden versehenen Vollprofilen aus Metall, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Kunststoffschichten zum Überstehen über die Enden der Metallprofile gebracht werden, in die Enden der Metallprofile ein die Verbindungsstelle überbrükkendes Verbindungsstück eingesteckt wird, die Stirnseiten der überstehenden Kunststoffschichten bis zur Erweichung erwärmt und hierauf die Profile, bis zum Aneinanderliegen der Metallprofile an ihren Stirnseiten, gegeneinandergepreßt werden.
2. Vorrichtung zum Ausüben des Verfahrens nach Anspruch 1 mit zwei oder mehreren sich gegenüberliegendenEinspannvorrichtungen für die miteinander zu verbindenden Profile und einer zwischen diesen bewegbaren Heizplatte sowie Steuermitteln für den Bewegungsablauf der Vorrichtungsteile, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Heizplatte geteilt ist und ihre Teile, einen Durchlaß für das die Verbindungsstelle überbrückende Verbindungsstück bildend, gegeneinander bewegbar angeordnet sind.
