Zahnstocher werden aus verschiedenen Materialien, unter anderem auch aus Kunststoff hergestellt. Meist
haben sie die Form eines an beiden Enden zugespitzten Flachstäbchens, doch sind auch schon Zahnstocher
bekannt, die aus einem Kunststoffröhrchen bestellen, welches an den Enden durch schrägen Zuschnitt
zugeschärft ist. Im allgemeinen ergibt sich bei der Herstellung von Zahnstochern die Aufgabe,
das Material und die Form des Zahnstochers so aufeinander abzustimmen, daß einerseits die zügeschärften
Endteile unter Beibehaltung einer gewissen Steifigkeit hinreichend elastisch verformbar si\id,
damit sie sich dem Verlauf der ZahnzΛvischenräume anpassen können, ohne zu brechen oder abzusplittern,
andererseits aber der Schaft möglichst steif und fest ist, um eine einfache Handhabung zu gewährleisten
und eine Bruchgefahr zu vermeiden. Überdies sollen Zahnstocher als Massenartikel möglichst einfach und
billig herstellbar sein und natürlich allen hygienischen Anforderungen entsprechen.
Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf einen Zahnstocher, der die Form eines an zumindest einem Ende abgeplatteten
und zugespitzten Röhrchens hat. und unterscheidet sich aber von den bekannten Ausführungen
erfindungsgemäß dadurch, daß das Röhrchen aus einem thermoplastischen Kunststoff besteht und daß
seine einander berührenden Innenwandteile miteinander verschweißt sind. Die durch die Verwendung
von thermoplastischem Kunststoff ermöglichte Ver-Zahnstocher und Vürranren
zu seiner Herstellung

dungsgemäßen Zahnstocher auf sehr einfache Weise herzustellen, indem das Ende des Kunststoffröhrchens
zwischen Preßmatrizen abgeplattet und zugleich unter Wärmeeinwirkung verschweißt wird.
Es sei erwähnt, daß es bereits bekannt ist. Zahnstocher aus Strohhalmen herzustellen, wobei die
Enden des Strohhalmes ebenfalls flachgedrückt und zugespitzt werden. Das Stroh ist jedoch trotz Imprägnierung
mit einem Lack, der zugleich die Verbindung der einander berührenden Innenwandteile des
Röhrchens herzustellen hat. spröde und kann insbesondere wegen des häufig vorkommenden Strahlenpilzes
nur mit erheblichem Aufwand sicher entkeimt werden. Aus diesen Gründen ist bei der Herstellung
von Zahnstochern aus Strohhalmen ein erheblicher Arbeitsaufwand erforderlich, wodurch die verminderten
MatcriaIkostcii wieder aufgewogen werden. Außerdem entsprechen die erhaltenen Zahnstocher
den Anforderungen doch nicht vollauf.

Erfindung besteht aus einem Röhrchen aus thermoplastischem Kunststoff, wie Polyvinylchlorid, Polyäthylen
oder Polystyrol. Die Röhrchenform verleiht dem Schaftteil 1 des Zahnstochers trotz geringen
Materialaufwandes eine erhebliche Steifigkeit. Die beiden Endteile2 des Zahnstochers sind plattgedrückt
und im spitzen Winkel zugeschnitten. Die einander berührenden, dreieckigen Wandungsteile sind miteinander
verschweißt. Diese Endteile 2 gehen allmählich in die Röhrchenform über, so daß der Zahnstocher
mit zunehmendem Abstand von der Spitze an Steifigkeit zunimmt.
Die Fig. 2 und 3 zeigen in der Seitenansicht bzw. in Draufsicht einen im Sinne der eingezeichneten
Pfeile ruckweise vorgeschobenen Röhrchenstrang 1 aus thermoplastischem Kunststoff, der in der Station
A durch zwei gegeneinander bewegte, geheizte Stempel 3, 4 örtlich abgeplattet wird, wobei gleichzeitig
die zur Berührung kommenden Inricnwandteile verschweißt werden. Sodann erfolgt ein Vorschub
um die gewünschte Länge des Zahnstochers, wodurch der abgeplattete Röhrchenteil Iu in der Station B
zwischen gegeneinander bewegte Schneidmatrizen 5, 6 gelangt, die bei ihrem Arbcitshub eine Auftrciinung
des abgeplatteten Röhrchenteiles lß und eine Zuspitzung der dabei entstehenden Röhrchenende-n bewirken.

Verfahren zur Herstellungeines Zahnstochers nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß ein röhrenförmiger Kunststoffstrang zwischen Preßmatrizen abgeplattet und zugleich unter Wärmeeinwirkung zugeschweißt wird, worauf an der Schweißstelle eine Trennung unter gleichzeitiger Zuspitzung der beiden erhaltenen Röhrchenenden erfolgt.Hierzu 1 Blatt Zeichnungenzwischen den Schneidmatrizen 5, 6 kann durch
