Abstract

La presente invención se relaciona con métodos para prepararuna esponja de polisacárido, que comprende los pasos de: (a) proveer una solución de polisacárido soluble en agua; (b) congelar la solución para formar una solución congelada; (c) sumergir la solución congelada en un solvente orgánico miscible con agua que contiene un agente entrelazador para intercambiar por lo menos una parte del agua de la solución congelada por dicho solvente mientras entrelaza el polisacarido para hacerlo insoluble en agua; y (d) secar el material de polisacarido resultante entrelazado y sometido a intercambio de solvente. El polisacárido soluble puede seleccionarse del grupo que consiste de alginatos solubles, goma de xantano, goma guar, goma de algarrobo, quitosán, sales de carboximetilcelulosa, hidroxietilcelulosa, ácido hialurónico, pectina y mezclas de los mismos. El agente entrelazador puede seleccionarse del grupo que consiste de glutaraldehído, diciclohexilcarbodiimida, diisocianato de hexametileno, sales de cationes multivalentes, sales de aniones multivalentes. Una esponja de polisacárido substancialmente insoluble en agua obtenible por un método de esta invención. Una venda para heridas o implante que comprende una esponja de polisacárido substancialmente insoluble en agua de conformidad con lo descrito.
