Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a una composición de xantofila que comprende isómeros selectivos de trans-R,R luteína y trans-R,R zeaxantina en tamaño de partícula preferido y excipientes farmacéutica y/o nutracéuticamente aceptables tales como vehículos, potenciadores de la solubilidad, agentes potenciadores de la biodisponibilidad, antioxidantes y, opcionalmente, agentes aromatizantes con una relación selectiva que ejerce una biodisponibilidad mejorada. La composición de xantofila contiene al menos un 80% de xantofila total compuesta por al menos un 65% en peso de trans-R,R luteína y al menos un 10% en peso de trans-R,R zeaxantina, que se prepara combinadamente a partir de oleorresinas de caléndula y pimentón con proporción definida para producir la proporción preferida de trans-R,R luteína y trans-R,R zeaxantina.
