图6-8示出本发明球杆头42的空心内部46。插口54位于空心内部46中而成为表面件60的一部件。插口54可用与表面件60相同的材料构成,用焊接之类固定在表面件60上。插口54在表面件60中的位置使得插口54的重量集中在表面板72上靠近跟部66,以增加表面板72的击球质量。在孔114与孔59之间形成一圆管的插口壁120界定插口54的空心内部118。在一优选实施例中,插口壁120不接触跟部壁80,因此插口壁120与跟部壁80之间有一空间115。球柄48插入插口54中。此外,插口54位于表面板72后方,使得表面板72与一高尔夫球碰撞时具有柔顺性。在一实施例中,插口54位于表面板72后方0.125英寸处。
球杆头42的空心内部46中还可有任选的双镇重件122和123。在一优选实施例中,镇重件122和123位于底板64上,以降低高尔夫球杆40的重心。镇重件122和123(未示出)的形状可与底板64一致。但是,本领域普通技术人员不难看出,为影响高尔夫球杆40的重心、转动惯量或其他固有特性,镇重件也可位于球杆头42的其他位置上。镇重件122和123最好为粉末钛材料之类压制和烧结粉末金属材料。镇重件122和123也可为铸造或机加工钛片。镇重件122和123还可为旋入底板64的孔124中的钨制螺丝。尽管把钛和钨用作例示性材料,但本领域普通技术人员不难看出,在本发明范围和精神内任选镇重件也可使用其他高密度材料。
图9-11示出连接线81a和81b的变化。连接线81b示出表面件60的表面延伸部74的变动。该变动的连接线位于V形符号88后方。连接线81b为优选连接线。
图12、12A和13示出其表面板72厚度变动的本发明实施例。表面板或击球板72分成厚度各不相同的椭圆区。中央椭圆区102最厚,其厚度为0.090至0.110英寸,最好为0.093至0.103英寸,更好为0.095英寸。其次为第一同心区104,其厚度为0.082至0.097英寸,最好为0.082至0.090英寸,更好为0.086英寸。其次为第二同心区106,其厚度为0.070至0.094英寸,最好为0.070至0.078英寸,更好为0.074英寸。其次为第三同心区108,其厚度为0.07至0.090英寸。其次为周边区110,其厚度为0.061至0.06 9英寸。该周边区包括尖部周边区110a和跟部周边区110b。表面板72的厚度变动使得最大厚度分布在表面板72的中央111,从而提高表面板72的柔性并因此提高回弹系数。
在另一实施例中,击球板72用琉态金属如铁-硼、镍-铜、镍-锌、镍-硫构成。这些琉态金属使得击球板72可薄达0.055英寸。最好是,这类琉态金属击球板的最薄部分位于周边区110a和110b上,尽管这类琉态金属击球板72的整个击球板72可有0.055英寸的均匀厚度。
在另一实施例中,击球板72由陶瓷、合成物或其他金属构成。此外,表面板或击球板72可为木制或铁制球杆头的一插入物。此外,击球板72的最薄区可薄达0.010英寸,以提高柔顺性并因此提高回弹系数。
在用给定高尔夫球进行的USGA标准测试条件下本发明球杆头42的回弹系数为0.80至0.93,最好为0.83至0.883,更好为0.87。表面件60的钛材料的微结构的面心立方体(“FCC”)微结构如图15所示,其体心立方体(“BCC”)微结构如图16所示。FCC微结构与β钛有关,BCC微结构与β钛有关。
此外,本发明表面板7 2的纵横比比现有表面板小(图14示出现有技术的一个例子)。纵横比定义为表面的宽度“w”除以表面的高度“h”,参见图1A。在一实施例中,宽度w为78mm,高度h为48mm,因此纵横比为1.635。在现有高尔夫球杆头中,纵横比通常远大于1。例如,原GREAT BIG BERTHA球杆的纵横比为1.9。本发明该表面的纵横比不大于1.7。本发明的纵横比最好为1.0至1.7。一个实施例的纵横比为1.3。本发明的该表面比现有技术更呈圆形。本发明表面板72的表面积为4.00至7.50平方英寸,最好为4.95至5.1平方英寸,更好为4.99至5.06平方英寸。
本发明球杆头42在与现有球杆头等重的条件下其体积比现有球杆头大。本发明球杆头42的体积为175至400立方厘米,最好为300至310立方厘米。本发明球杆头42的重量为165至300克,最好为175至225克,更好为188至195克。该球杆头从表面板72到顶板62后部的深度最好为3.606至3.741英寸。球杆头42在击球位置时的高度“H”最好为2.22至2.27英寸,更好为2.24英寸。球杆头42从尖部部68到跟部66的宽度“W”最好为4.5至4.6英寸。
如图17-19所示,表面板72的柔性使得回弹系数提高。图17中示出表面板72即将击打一高尔夫球140。图18示出表面板72击打该高尔夫球,高尔夫球140和表面板72发生变形。图19示出高尔夫球140从表面板72射出。
本发明高尔夫球杆42与原GREAT BIG BERTHA球杆类似形状的高尔夫球杆头进行比较,示出纵横比、厚度和面积的变动对表面板72的COR和应力造成的影响。但是,GREAT BIG BERTHA基准的表面厚度均匀,其0.110英寸的厚度比Callaway Golf Company的原GREAT BIGBERTHA球杆薄。比方说在按照1998-1999高尔夫球规则的规则4-1e,附录II规定的USGA测试条件下,GREAT BIG BERTHA基准的COR值为0.830,而原GREAT BIG BERTHA球杆的COR值为0.788。把GREAT BIGBERTHA用作基准对表面中央进行100mph碰撞时,表面顶部的应力为40千磅/平方英寸(“ksi”),表面底部的应力为49ksi,表面中央的应力为29ksi。GREAT BIG BERTHA基准的表面偏转在100mph下为1.25mm。图20-29为把GREAT BIG BERTHA用作基准时与这些参数有关的曲线图。表面顶部指横向延伸顶部76,表面底部指横向延伸底部78,表面中央指表面板72的中央。
较之纵横比和面积,厚度比变动对COR变动的影响最小。但是,对于给定高尔夫球,比方说在按照1998-1999高尔夫球规则的规则4-1e,附录II规定的USGA测试条件下,本发明高尔夫球杆头43同时使用厚度比、纵横比和面积这三者提高COR。因此,与弹簧不同,在不增加该系统的能量的条件下,本发明提高表面板的柔顺性,减小击球时高尔夫球的能量损耗。
表1示出本发明高尔夫球杆头42与市场上销售的各种高尔夫球杆的使用寿命,包括Bridgestone Sport of Tokyo,Japan的BIIM球杆;Katana Golf of Tokyo,Japan的KATANA SWORD 1球杆;KatanaGolf of Tokyo,Japan的KATANA SWORD 2球杆;Daiwa-Seiko of Tokyo,Japan的S-YARD.301NF;Daiwa-Seiko of Tokyo,Japan的S-YARD.301NF11;Mizuno Golf of Tokyo,Japan的Mizuno 300S;Callaway Golf Company of Carsbad California的BIGGEST BIG BERTHA和Callaway Golf Company of Carsbad California的GREAT BIG BERTHAHAWK EYE球杆。第一列列出各高尔夫球杆头。第二列列出各高尔夫球杆头的COR。第三列列出各高尔夫球杆头击球板损坏前与符合USGA标准的高尔夫球的碰撞次数。第四列列出某些高尔夫球杆头的表面中央的厚度。如表1所示,没有一个高尔夫球杆头的COR至少为0.85而其寿命经得起与速度为110英里/小时的一高尔夫球碰撞2000次。尽管KATANA SWORD 1的COR超过0.85,但其寿命不够,因为它在约1500次碰撞后损坏。BIIM球杆的寿命超过2000次碰撞,但其COR小于0.850。MIZUNO 300S的寿命约为5000次碰撞,但其COR小于0.840。

为确定寿命,用从一气炮以110英里/小时(“MPH”)射出的高尔夫球反复碰撞高尔夫球杆。该高尔夫球杆固定在一架上,其击球板正对该气炮。从气炮以110MPH射出的高尔夫球反复碰撞该击球板的中央。高尔夫球为符合USGA高尔夫球标准的PINNACLE GOLD高尔夫球。在每进行500次碰撞后,检查球杆头是否损坏。检查球杆头是否发生表面开裂、鼓起和隆起偏差、表面变形和焊缝、接头和接缝开裂。用至少140英尺烛光的照明检查表面开裂是否大于0.50英寸。如大于0.50英寸,则表明球杆头损坏。使用一直规和塞尺确定表面变形,检查该表面上是否有地方偏差大于0.005英寸。用鼓起和隆起量规确定鼓起和隆起,检查该表面中央处的偏差是否大于0.005英寸。用至少140英尺烛光的照明检查焊缝、接头和接缝,检查各表面之间是否开裂。最重要的因素是表面开裂,如该裂缝大于0.50英寸,就造成高尔夫球杆损坏。

Claims (18)

1、一种高尔夫球杆头,包括:
一由金属材料构成的表面件,该表面件包括:一用来击打具有一外表面和一内表面的高尔夫球的表面板,该表面板从该高尔夫球杆头的跟部伸展到该高尔夫球杆头的尖部;一从该表面板的周边沿横向向里伸展的表面延伸部;
一在距该表面板的周边5.08毫米至25.4毫米的距离处固定在该表面延伸部的顶部上的顶板;以及
一在距该表面板5.08毫米至25.4毫米的距离处固定在该表面延伸部的底部上的底板;该高尔夫球杆头的回弹系数为0.80至0.93。
2、按权利要求1所述的高尔夫球杆头,其特征在于,该表面板的厚度为0.889毫米至3.175毫米。
3、按权利要求1所述的高尔夫球杆头,其特征在于,该表面板的厚度为0.2794毫米至1.524毫米。
4、按权利要求1所述的高尔夫球杆头,其特征在于,该表面板的制作材料选自钛、钛合金、钢、琉态金属、陶瓷、合成物、碳材料、碳纤维材料、其他纤维材料及其混合物组成的材料组。
5、按权利要求1所述的高尔夫球杆头,其特征在于,该表面板有厚度不同的各同心区,其中心区最厚。
6、按权利要求1所述的高尔夫球杆头,其特征在于,该表面板包括:一有基本厚度的中心圆形区;一有第一厚度的第一同心区,该基本厚度大于该第一厚度;一有第二厚度的第二同心区,该第一厚度大于该第二厚度;一有第三厚度的第三同心区,该第二厚度大于该第三厚度;以及一有第四厚度的周边区,该第四厚度小于该第三厚度。
7、按权利要求1所述的高尔夫球杆头,其特征在于,该高尔夫球杆头的回弹系数为0.85至0.93。
8、一种高尔夫球杆头,包括:
一表面件,包括:一用来击打一有一外表面和一内表面的高尔夫球的表面板,该表面板从该高尔夫球杆头的跟部伸展到该高尔夫球杆头的尖部;一从该表面板的周边沿横向向里伸展的表面延伸部和一供一球柄插入的内部管道,该内部管道与该表面延伸部的一顶部和一底部接合;
一在离该表面板5.08毫米至25.4毫米的距离处固定在该表面延伸部的顶部上的顶板;以及
一在离该表面板5.08毫米至25.4毫米的距离处固定在该表面延伸部的底部上的底板。
9、按权利要求8所述的高尔夫球杆头,其特征在于,该底板包括固定在该顶板上的围带部。
10、按权利要求8所述的高尔夫球杆头,其特征在于,该表面板用锻造的钛材料制成。
11、按权利要求8所述的高尔夫球杆头,其特征在于,该底板还包括一从该表面部向后伸展的中央凸脊,该中央凸脊把该底板分成尖部和跟部。
12、按权利要求8所述的高尔夫球杆头,其特征在于,该表面件的该表面板的厚度为2.54毫米至6.35毫米,回弹系数至少为0.83。
13、按权利要求12所述的高尔夫球杆头,其特征在于,该表面板的纵横比不大于1.7。
14、按权利要求8所述的高尔夫球杆头,其特征在于,该表面板的厚度从中心向外变动。
15、按权利要求8所述的高尔夫球杆头,其特征在于,该表面板有厚度不同的各同心区,其中心区最厚。
16、按权利要求8所述的高尔夫球杆头,其特征在于,该表面板包括:一有基本厚度的中心圆形区;一有第一厚度的第一同心区,该基本厚度大于该第一厚度;一有第二厚度的第二同心区,该第一厚度大于该第二厚度;一有第三厚度的第三同心区,该第二厚度大于该第三厚度;以及一有第四厚度的周边区,该第四厚度小于该第三厚度。
17、按权利要求8所述的高尔夫球杆头,其特征在于,该表面延伸部的顶部有一环绕该内部管道延伸的插口部,该插口部的宽度大于整个该表面延伸部顶部的宽度。
18、按权利要求8所述的高尔夫球杆头,其特征在于,该表面延伸部的底部有一环绕该内部管道延伸的孔部,该孔部的宽度大于整个该表面延伸部底部的宽度。
