模块化屏蔽接头
技术领域
本发明涉及电接头(connector),更详细地说,涉及一种采用屏蔽的绝缘外壳模块的模块化屏蔽接头。
背景技术
典型的同轴电缆包括一个被管状绝缘鞘围绕在中央的芯,鞘本身又被一个通常为圆柱形金属织物的屏蔽层围绕。还可以有绝缘层围绕着织物。织物同时用于屏蔽和接地。
有很多种接头能用于端接和/或互联同轴电缆。这样的接头通常包括某种形式的绝缘外壳,而绝缘外壳具有至少一个用于容纳同轴电缆的通道。至少部分外壳被导电屏蔽件覆盖,并提供适当的安装装置用于将屏蔽件与外壳牢固地固定在一起。同轴电缆通常被“剥开”以露出屏蔽织物。织物与接头的屏蔽层结合在一起。例如,织物可能是焊接在接头屏蔽层上,而且/或者织物可能被焊接到接头的单独的接地部件上。
另外,很多诸如计算机的电子设备含有传输线,用以将来自诸如视频摄像器、CD播放器之类的并行设备的信号传输到计算机的主板。这些传输线组合了能高速传输数据的信号线。多数情况下,信号线从并行设备本身或者并行设备上的接头延伸到安装在主板上的接头。信号线可以使用公知的一个或多个导体的微分双绞线(differential pair)。这些微分双绞线通常接收补充信号电压,亦即,其中一线+1.0瓦信号,而另一线-1.0瓦信号。因为信号线在计算机内绕行,所以可能通过或接近主板上的产生其自身电场的电子设备。这些设备可能对诸如前述信号线的传输线造成电磁干扰。但是,这种微分双绞线构造能使引入的电场最小化甚至清除,从而去除了电磁干扰。
具有外壳模块的现有技术的接头包括美国专利5,354,219和欧洲专利申请EP 0 852 414 A2。
随着当代电子电路日趋小型化和高密度,同轴电缆已经因接头的复杂性变得很难制造和使用。这些制造困难使得这些接头无法进入需要高位计数(high position counts)的市场。本发明这样解决这个问题:使用分开的镀有导电屏蔽材料的绝缘模块外壳,来提供一个模块化的屏蔽的同轴电缆接头。这使得100个以上的位置计数同轴电缆接头成为可能。而且,该模块化概念还能用于模块化其它类型的接头,诸如微分信号双绞线接头。
发明内容
本发明的目的是提供一种新的改进的模块化的屏蔽的同轴电缆接头。
本发明的示范实施例中的接头包括至少一对绝缘外壳模块,在二者间形成至少一个导体容纳通道。通道被轴向地划分开,从而两个外壳模块中都各含一部分通道。外壳模块至少在分开的通道区域镀有导电屏蔽材料。同轴电缆部件被放进导体容纳通道。同轴电缆部件包括一个被绝缘鞘围绕的导电芯。
正如本文披露的,外壳模块之间设有多个分开的导体容纳通道。这些通道基本均匀隔开。在本发明的一个实施例中,每个通道都被大体沿这些线划分开,从而每个外壳模块含一半通道。其它实施例可以不沿绝缘外壳的中心线分开。
在本发明的一个实施例中,分开的导体容纳通道呈拐角延伸(例如直角通道)。这些通道共面,并且在一个与它们各自拐角共面延伸的平面内被划分开。在本发明的另一实施例中,每个分开的导体容纳通道都呈拐角延伸,并且通道在基本与拐角平面正交的方向被划分开。
本发明堆叠地排布多个(多于两个)绝缘外壳。每对相邻外壳模块之间至少具有分开的导体容纳通道中的一个。在本发明的另一实施例中,模块化的屏蔽同轴电缆大体为圆形,每个外壳模块大体为饼形。
在本发明的又一实施例中,外壳模块具有位于分开的导体容纳通道之间的有电绝缘区域以提供导体容纳通道之间的绝缘的区域。
在本发明的又一实施例中,导体容纳通道被设计用于容纳信号导体的微分双绞线。

优选实施例
下面详细参看附图,首先是图1,显示了本发明的模块化屏蔽同轴电缆接头(用标号10表示)的第一实施例。该接头包括至少一对有镀层的外壳模块,用标号12表示,其间形成了多个导体容纳通道,用标号14表示。同轴电缆部件,用标号16表示,被置于一个或多个或全部通道14中。为避免表达混乱,仅显示了一个同轴电缆部件。每个通道14的一端或两端都设有扩大的插座区域18。可以理解,尽管被称为模块化屏蔽同轴电缆接头,本发明所披露的也可以用于任何类型的信号导体。
更具体地说,每个导体容纳通道14都被轴向地划分开,从而部分通道14a、14b处于每个通道的每个外壳模块12中。优选地,通道大体沿中心线被划分开,从而通道14包括半通道14a、14b,它们结合成整个通道,尽管不沿中心线划分通道也是可以的(图中未显示)。另外,模块化屏蔽同轴电缆可以是圆形的,如图9所示,每个外壳模块12′都大体呈饼形。图1显示了分开的外壳模块12以便更好地显示相对的半通道以及一个同轴电缆部件16。完全装配后,半外壳被并置到结合点(abutment)并被适当的粘合剂或伸过装配孔20的紧固件保持在一起。
每个同轴电缆部件16包括一个被管状绝缘鞘24围绕的中心导电芯22。鞘被剥开如图1所示,从而导电芯22向各通道14的插座区域18中伸入一段长度。一个适当的母接头(图中未显示)可以插入插座区域18。
本发明中的每个外壳模块12都浇铸为理想的构形。如图1所示,外壳模块一般是矩形(方形)薄块状部件。半通道14a、14b被直接浇铸到外壳模块的相对面上。模块可以用诸如塑料之类的适当绝缘材料浇铸。然后整个浇铸的塑料外壳模块基本上都被镀上一层导电屏蔽材料。模块可以用湿法无电工艺或其它工艺镀上导电的金属。
当然,本发明并不局限于图1中显示的特定的外壳模块构形,而是能呈多种构形。另外,本发明不局限于模块整体镀层,而只要至少镀上分开的通道14的区域即可。有了图1中显示的薄块,和浇铸在模块的两个相对面上的半通道14a、14b,镀每个整体模块就很有效了。
在图1的实施例中,可以清楚地看到,由半通道14a、14b形成的导体容纳通道14基本都共面并以拐角延伸通过外壳模块12。确切地说,通道和半通道呈直角延伸并从模块上的邻边上开口。因此,在本实施例中,通道在一个与通道拐角共同延伸的平面内被划分开。换言之,任意两个相邻外壳模块12之间的所有通道都在一个共同的平面内。
图2显示了一个接头10A的可选实施例,其中导体容纳通道在一对外壳模块12A之间呈直角延伸。但是,接头10A中的通道是沿大体与同轴电缆的拐角正交的方向被划分开的。除了图2中显示的外壳模块12A的构形,外壳模块的制造是一样的,并且相应于对图1中的实施例的说明中类似部件的类似标号被应用于图2中。
图3简单地显示了图1中的实施例,但增加了第三外壳模块12。这是着重强调可以堆叠任意数量的外壳模块12密集地排列同轴电缆16,由半通道14a、14b形成的导体容纳通道14位于堆叠阵列中的每对相邻模块之间。
在图8中显示的实施例中,可以看到电绝缘层32位于半通道14a、14b之间,提供导体容纳通道之间的绝缘。电绝缘层32可以采取模块12的选择性无镀层形式,尽管本发明不局限于用该方法提供导体容纳通道之间的绝缘。
图4-7显示了制造同轴电缆接头10的步骤,示例说明该接头的简单以及制造装配的简便。更详细地,首先参照图4,提供了一个导电金属材料的薄片26,并且导体22从开口28成多组地沿薄片长度方向冲压出来,薄片呈条状形式,以便输送穿过适当的冲压机。
图5显示了下一步骤,围绕导电芯22包铸(overmold)绝缘鞘24。这可以通过将经冲压的薄片26(图4)放入适当的铸模然后围绕导电芯包铸绝缘鞘来完成。
在一个单独的操作中,外壳模块12(图6)被铸成包括铸在各块之间的相对面的半通道14a、14b的塑料块,然后这些塑料块被镀上导电屏蔽材料28,特别是在半通道区域。这些被浇铸、镀层的外壳模块可以作为存货保存并在需要时使用。
图7显示了制造同轴电缆接头的下一步骤,包括将图5中的组件放在一个或多个经浇铸和镀层的外壳模块12上。该组件可以以连续的方式制造,使得该组件可以绕在卷盘上。然后该组件可以被送入标度(indexing)机器,依次放在外壳模块12上,而模块被逐一送入装配站。导电芯22从薄片26上30处切断,这或者在装配到外壳模块上时进行,或者在装配线上随后进行。孔20也可以在导电芯从金属片上切断的同时从外壳模块上冲出来。
在图7所示的组装之后,有多种选择。例如,可以将第二外壳模块12立即粘附或紧固到图7中的组件上,以形成如图1中的10所示的接头。或者,同轴电缆部件16(图7)可以粘附在半通道14a、14b内,并且,如上所述,可以堆叠多个这种组件密集地排列,直到用如图6所示的外壳模块作为“端盖”置于堆叠阵列末端。
图10和11显示了模块化屏蔽接头的又一实施例。该接头包括至少一对有镀层的外壳模块,用标号12表示,在外壳模块12的两个侧面12a、12b上形成多个导体容纳通道,用标号14a和14b表示。导体容纳通道14a容纳一根形成微分信号双绞线的导体34,而导体容纳通道14b容纳另一形成微分信号双绞线的导体36。通过分隔微分信号双绞线,微分信号导体34、36不会延伸超过外壳模块12的侧壁12a、12b。外壳模块12还可以包括侧壁12a上的舌片38,和另一侧壁12b上的槽40,以使模块化外壳模块能容易地互相对齐,使微分信号双绞线的性能最大化。
图12和13所示的实施例类似于图10和11,但微分信号双绞线42没有如图10、11一样分开为单独的导体34、36。在这样的实施例中,微分信号双绞线42延伸出外壳模块的侧壁12a。延伸出外壳模块的侧壁12a的微分信号双绞线42的该部分容纳在相邻的外壳模块12的导体容纳通道14b中。
可以理解,本发明可以以其它形式实施而不脱离本发明的精神和核心特征。其中的示例和实施例只作为说明性的而不是限制性的,并且本发明不局限于本文的具体描述。

Claims (27)

1.一种模块化屏蔽接头(10),包括:
至少一对绝缘外壳模块(12),在二者间形成至少一个导体容纳通道(14),通道(14)被轴向地划分开,从而两个外壳模块(12)中都各含一部分通道(14a,14b),以及置于导体容纳通道(14)内的导体(16),该导体包括一个被绝缘鞘(24)围绕的导电芯(22),其特征在于:
外壳模块(12)至少在分开的通道(14)区域镀有导电屏蔽材料。
