Subprostrate sophora is one of important Chinese medicinal materials, and the use of the subprostrate sophora is gradually popularized. The radix Sophorae Tonkinensis is vine-shaped shrub of Leguminosae, and is not branched, and adventitious root is grown on stem. Three leaves are used; the petiole is short and soft, the leaflet is thick and paper, and is oval, the tip is short and tapered to be blunt and round, the base is wide and wedge-shaped, the upper surface is dark green, and has no hair, and the side pulse is not obvious; the total inflorescence, the total pedicel and the pedicel are all short and soft; small bract and diamond shape; calyx shaped, lobe blunt triangular; the corolla is white, the flag valve is oblong, the tip is blunt and round, the shape of a spoon is that the upper half of the keel valve is bonded, the separation is easy, the valve is oval, the ovary is prolate and round or linear, the pod is oval, the tip is blunt and round, the tip is sharp, black, smooth and hairless. The dried root and rhizome of radix Sophorae Tonkinensis has effects of clearing heat and detoxicating, subsiding swelling and relieving sore throat, and can be used for treating fire toxin accumulation, tonsillitis pharyngitis, sore throat, gingival swelling and pain, and aphtha of the mouth and tongue. Radix Sophorae Tonkinensis also has anticancer and antifungal effects.
