Abstract
一种接合器组件(10),用以将光纤(18)沿光轴(64)与相关的光纤传输器件(14)接合。接合器组件的壳体(36),其端面(73)横切所述光轴,用以与相关的光纤传输器件接合。壳体(36)上附装有活动保护罩(70)将所述端面罩住,并防止脏物进入壳体中和保护操作人员的眼睛。保护罩有一个转向表面(80),转向表面与光轴线对准,其作用是防止光纤(18)发出的光能反射回光纤。
Description
本发明总的说来涉及具有保护端盖或防尘罩的光纤元件组件的技术领域。
在光纤技术领域中,光导纤维使用于光传输系统,在光传输系统中光导纤维首尾相接,供在其间传输光能之用。光纤一般端接在可在接合器中接合的连接器组件中,由接合器将光纤安置在中心位置,使插入损耗不致过高。各连接器连接在一起时,使它们经密封的光纤首尾相连。
比起电气导线在电连接器中的端接,在光纤连接器端接光纤会遇到这样一个问题:光纤端部可能会因环境有害的不测事件而损坏,尤其是光纤处于不连接状态时,更是如此。具体地说,尘埃和污物及其与光纤外部的接触都可能会损害光纤的光传输力。
因此,当光纤连接器不使用,或不与其它连接器或相关的光纤传输装置连接时,一直来都建议将连接器的接合端罩住,以免灰尘和其它脏物积集在光纤露出的端部表面或防止外来物质与其接触。例如,大家知道,光纤连接器的端部或连接器有关的外壳或器体配备有防尘罩,供运输或储藏期间或连接器不使用的其它时间用。另一个非常重要的问题是连接器“在起作用”时要保护操作人员的眼睛使其免受激光束的危害。
但使用防尘罩或端盖在某些应用场合还会有另外一些问题:光能作为一定程度的“反馈”反射回到光纤,可能会引起危险。换句话说,若光纤连接器在不连接情况下“起作用”或传输光能,则从防尘罩或端盖反射的光能,其量可能足以损坏象激光器之类的有源器件。因此,虽然防尘罩或端盖可保护光纤免受灰尘、污物的入侵袭和外部接触引起的损坏,但光能从防尘罩反射出去反馈入系统中却可能会产生严重的问题。
本发明旨在解决上述问题,提供一种能防止光纤传输的光能反射回光纤和损害操作人员眼睛的活动保护罩。
因此,本发明的目的是提供一种新颖的经改进的用以将光纤沿光轴与相关的光纤传输装置接合、带有活动保护罩的接合器组件,活动保护罩防止光能反馈入连接器组件,并防止操作人员的眼睛受损伤。
在本发明的典型实施例中,接合器组件壳体的端面用以与相关的光纤传输装置接合。该壳体端面横切光轴。壳体上附有端罩,将壳体端面罩住,并防止脏物进入壳体中。
本发明设计在端罩上配备了一个与光轴对准的转向装置,用以防止光纤发出的光能反射回光纤。
在最佳实施例中,转向装置采用端罩上与光轴成一个斜角伸展的偏斜表面。端罩借助铰链固定在壳体上,铰链的轴与光轴间隔一段距离,且通常垂直于光线。偏斜表面的斜角从铰链轴张开(divergefrom),偏离壳体的端面,从而使偏斜表面在端罩绕铰链摆到开启位置时不会垂直于光轴。
这里说明接合器组件的上述光纤连接器是具有端接光纤的外壳的的第一连接器。连接器可插入接合器中。接合器的壳体有一个端面,端罩即固定在该端面上。第二光纤连接器适宜在端罩处在打开位置时以端部对端部的形式在接合器中与第一连接器连接。
结合附图阅读下面的详细说明,可以清楚了解本发明的其它目的、特点和优点。
本说明书所附的权利要求书中具有列出了本发明新颖的特点。要了解本发明连同其目的和优点最好结合附图参阅下面的详细说明,附图中同样的编号表示同样的元件,其中:
图1是体现出本发明的原理的光纤接合器组件的部件分解透视图;
图2是大致沿图1的2—2线截取的接合器组件经放大的垂直轴向剖视图。
再仔细地参看附图,先参看图1。本发明体现在接合器组件10上,该组件包括第一连接器12和第二连接器14。从图中可以看到,连接器12是用来装设在印刷电路板16的,并用来将裸光纤20的光纤18的端部接合到第二连接器14的光纤。连接器12可以有一个应力消除套管22。连接器组件14,包括应力消除套管24在内,端接着第二光缆26。连接器12的外壳28装有向前凸出的套筒30,连接器14的外壳32则装有向前凸出的套筒34。连接器12和14在接合器36中端部对端部地连接,接合器36可以装在电子设备(图中未示出)的底板或其它板上,从而以端部互连的形式将光缆20和26的光纤端部连接起来。
结合图1参看图2,可以看到接合器34有一对接合器半体42和44,用例如粘结剂在界面45固定在一起。接合器半体42成了连接器12的容座46,接合器半体44成了连接器14的容座48。接合器36可以装在底板或其它板52的孔眼50(图2)中,并用固定在接合器半体42的金属板56的一对弹性锁定件54固定在面板孔眼中。如此装设时,连接器12可按箭头“A”的方向插入容座46中,直到套筒30引入接合器半体42的内凸台部分58中,且引入横跨两接合器半体42和44的内对中套管60中为止。
在接合器36装在板52的孔眼50、连接器12插入接合器的情况下,连接器14可以按双头箭头“B”的方向插入接合器半体44的容座48和从容座48卸除,而与连接器12连接,或与连接器12脱开。更具体地说,连接器14插入容座48中使套筒34引入内凸台部分62并引入内对中套管60的另一端。这使光缆20和26的光纤对齐,并使光纤端部沿光轴64端部对端部地连接起来。接合器半体44内的一对锁定臂66(图2)能有效地在凸肩68(图1)后面起锁定作用。
活动保护罩70在枢轴或棒条72处铰接到接合器半体44上,从而使保护罩可按双头箭头“C”(图2)所示的方向转动或摆动。可以看到,保护罩处于关闭位置时罩住接合器36的端面73且将容座48封闭起来。保护罩用卷簧74借助其弹力安装就位,卷簧74的一端74a固定在接合器半体44上,另一端则固定在罩70的凹口76中,将罩偏移到其关闭位置,如图中所示。处在关闭位置时,保护罩通常垂直越过即横切光轴64,伸出接合器半体44外,形成凸缘70a,供操作人员握住,以便使保护罩转到其开启位置,并使连接器14可以插入接合器的容座48中。连接器卸下时,卷簧74会自动将端盖偏移回到其关闭位置(如图中所示)保护连接器组件内部使其免受灰尘、脏物或其它危害物质的侵袭。保护罩外标有编号77。
上面在谈到“发明背景”时说过,防尘罩或端盖用来保护不连接即不耦接情况下仍然起作用的连接器会有问题。换句话说,连接器14从接器36上卸下时,保护罩70会越过即横切光轴64延伸。若不连接之后连接器12仍然起作用,则会有这样的危险,即端盖会将光纤18(图1)传输的光能反射回到光纤,从而在系统中产生“反馈”,从而使通过裸光纤20与连接器12连接的有源器件(例如激光器)损坏。总的说来,本发明设计在保护罩70上配备了一个与光轴64对准的转向装置,以防光纤18发出的光能反射回光纤,并保护操作人员的眼睛。
更具体地说,参看图2,转向装置由保护罩70内表面82上的偏斜表面80形成,与光轴线64成一斜角延伸。实质上,箭头“D”表示可能会垂直偏离偏斜表面80、斜交于或偏离表示光纤18的传输轴的光轴64的光能的方向。还应该指出的是,偏斜表面80的斜角沿偏离接合器半体44端面73的方向偏离盖盖70的铰链轴,从而当端盖绕其铰链轴摆到其开启位置时,偏斜表面始终不会垂直于光轴64。
应该理解的是,这里为了公开目前的最佳实施例或本发明的适用范围,本发明是结合将接合器36的端面73罩住的活动保护罩进行公开的。但完全可以设想可以将保护罩或端盖直接附装到光纤连接器的端面上而完全无需使用接合器,这是本技术领域所周知的。实质上,接合器36确实可以成为用铰链安装保护罩70的壳体。体现为转向装置(例如偏斜表面80)的本发明,可用在直接附装到连接器(例如直接附到连接器外壳28)的端盖或防尘罩内,这全都属于本发明的原理范围。
不言而喻,在不脱离本发明的精神实质或主要性能的前提下,本发明是可以按其它的具体形式实施的。因此,本发明的实例的实施例,无论在任何方面都应视为是举例的性质,而不应视为是对本发明的限制,且本发明并不局限于这里提供的细节。
Claims (6)
1.一种光纤元件组件(10),用以将光纤(18)沿光轴(64)与相关的光纤传输装置(14)接合,所述元件组件包括:
壳体(36),其端面(73)供与相关的光纤传输装置(14)接合用,横切所述光轴(64);和
活动保护罩(70),适宜附装到所述壳体(36)上,将壳体的端面(73)盖住,从而防止污物进入其中,并保护操作人员的眼睛免受强烈激光束的照射;
其特征在于包括:
在所述活动保护罩(70)上加了一个与光轴(64)对准的转向装置(80),防止所述光纤(18)发出的光能反射回光纤。
2.如权利要求1所述的元件组件,其特征在于,所述转向装置在活动保护罩(70)上有一个偏斜表面(80),与所述光轴(64)成一个斜角延伸。
3.如权利要求2所述的元件组件,其特征在于,所述活动保护罩(70)用铰链(72)固定在壳体(36)上,铰链的轴与所述光轴(64)间隔一段距离,且通常垂直于所述光轴(64)。
4.如权利要求3所述的元件组件,其特征在于,所述斜角从铰链轴张开,偏离壳体(36)的端面(73),从而使活动保护罩绕铰链摆到开启位置时,偏斜表面(80)不垂直于光轴(64)。
5.一接合器组件(10),用以将光纤(18)沿光轴(64)与相关的光纤传输装置(14)接合,所述接合器组件包括:
壳体(36),供与相关的光纤传输装置(14)接合用;
活动保护罩(70),适宜附装到壳体(36)上,且横切所述光轴(64)横贯壳体延伸,防止污物进入壳体内,并保护操作人员的眼睛免受强烈激光束的照射;
其特征在于包括:在所述保护罩(70)上的一个与光轴(64)对准的转向装置(80),防止由所述光纤(18)发射的光能反射回光纤。
6.如权利要求5所述的接合器组件,其特征在于,所述转向装置包括活动保护罩(70)上的一个偏斜表面(80),与光轴(64)成一个斜角延伸。
