Abstract
PURPOSE:To make miniaturization possible by attaching a shielding piece which prevents the emission of laser beams that give damages to the human body within the optical connector at the terminal part of the optical fiber on the side of emitting laser beam. CONSTITUTION:A groove 13 of the wdith corresponding to that of an elastic material shielding piece 14 is formed to the terminal member 12 attached to the end part of an exit side optical fiber 10 along its axial direction, and said piece 14 is fitted in to this groove in the state that its leading end is curved in a manner as to shield the fiber 10 and is built in the connector body 17. A washer 15 is interposed between a spring 16 elongating or contracting while pressing the piece 14 according to its slipping and the terminal member, and is fixed by a retaining fitting 18 in the state that the terminal member 12 and the spring 16 are held pressed. Thus, with the optical connector disconnected, the fiber 10 emits a laser beam in the linear direction, but since the end face of the fiber 10 is shielded by the curved part at the leading end of the piece 14, damaging the human body does not occur. Hence, the connector is miniaturized by such constitution.
