Abstract

PURPOSE:To make miniaturization possible by attaching a shielding piece for preventing the emission of a laser beam within an optical connector. CONSTITUTION:When an incident side connector 8 is inserted onto an exit side connector 1 provided with a shielding piece 15 made of elastic material in order to couple the connector 1 and the connector 8, the terminal member 12 thereof curves the shielding piece 15 provided on the inner side of the connecting side end part of the connector body 13 of the connector 1, thereby fixing both connectors in the state that the terminals members 12 thereof are held coupled. In this way, laser beam is transmitted from the end face of the optical fiber 10 of the connector 1 to the end face of the optical fiber 11 of the connector 8, thereby forming an optical communication path. When both connectors are disconnected, the shielding piece 15 resets to the state before the coupling owing to its own elasticity, thereby shielding the laser light.
