背景技术
随着电信需求的增加,光纤(fiber)光学网络正在越来越多的领域中扩展。在密集环境中,装备内光导纤维(optical fiber)的易于安装、可及性和可服务性是重要的关注点。作为结果,需要解决这些和其它关注点的光纤光学设备。
发明内容

具体实施方式
本公开一般地涉及光纤光学电路,具体地,涉及预制光学电路,其中光纤按预定的朝向/布局布置,为到光纤光学连接器的端接准备。这样的光纤光学电路可以例如以光纤光学盒的形式被携带在设备内,该光纤光学盒包括至少一个提供信号入口位置的连接器和至少一个提供信号出口位置的连接器,其中光纤光学电路位于它们之间用于将信号从入口位置中继到出口位置。
根据本公开的预制电路的使用可以提供许多优点。例如,预制电路的使用允许设计者或技术人员将光纤固定在给定的朝向上,其中可以以可预测的和自动化的方式来产生电路布局。通过预制光学电路的使用,可以减少和消除装备内光纤的手动处理和定位。电路的复杂性可以由于光纤的预固定定位而增加。可以促进光纤的端接。本公开的用于预固定光纤的方法允许设计者在配置其中使用光纤的装备中优化光纤弯曲半径限制和要求,因而实现减小设备的尺寸。因而可以将光纤的弯曲半径控制到最小直径。
应当注意的是,本公开的光学电路以及其中容纳电路的装备可以具有许多形式。盒只是用于容纳这样的预制光学电路的一件示例光纤光学装备。
在图1-图2中示出了可以利用本公开的发明的预制光纤光学电路的光纤光学盒10的示例。在图2中,盒10被示出为具有常规的柔性光纤光学电路12。柔性光纤光学电路12可以被根据要在下面进一步详细讨论的本公开的方法制备的预制光学电路所替代。
在图1-图2的光纤光学盒10中,柔性光学电路12被描述为在盒10的后部18处的常规连接器16(例如,MPO连接器)和盒10的相对的前端22处的多个非常规连接器20之间的过渡光导纤维14,其中柔性光学电路12的基板24的部分被物理地插入到非常规连接器20中。
应当注意的是,术语“非常规连接器”可以指不是诸如LC或SC连接器之类的常规类型的光纤光学连接器,并且一般地不会成为业界公认的用于光纤光学连接的标准封装(footprint)的光纤光学连接器。
通过消除通常与将光导纤维端接到连接器相关联的技术劳动,包括抛光光纤的端面以及将光纤用环氧树脂胶合到连接器中,盒10内部的常规的配合连接器的消除可以显著地减少总体成本。它还允许将诸如光学盒10之类的光纤光学互连设备做得非常薄。
仍然参考图1-图2,盒10包括限定前部22、后部18和内部28的主体26。主体26还包括顶部30、底部32和侧部34、36。
信号入口位置38可以由MPO连接器16提供,在图示的实施例中,其沿着盒体26的后部18。口袋40容纳用于保持MPO连接器16的MPO适配器11。非常规连接器20与盒10的前部22相邻而线性地布置。在所描绘的盒10的实施例中,盒10的MPO连接器16被定位成大体平行于在盒10的前部22处的非常规连接器20的套圈44延伸。
一般而言,盒10包括顶部30和底部32,该顶部30和底部32大体彼此平行并限定盒体26的主表面。侧部34、36、前部22和后部18大体限定盒体26的次侧部。盒10可以被定向在任何位置,使得顶表面和底表面可以颠倒,或者竖直地或者以某个其它朝向定位。
在图1-图2中所示的光纤光学盒10的实施例中,被定位成与盒10的前部22相邻的非常规连接器20各自限定安装在套圈44上方的集线器46。每个套圈44被配置为端接从柔性电路12延伸出的光纤14中的一根光纤14。
非常规连接器20被放置在口袋48内,该口袋48被提供在位于盒10的前部22处的连接块或阵列50处。还提供了对开套管52,用于在每个非常规连接器20的集线器46和套圈44与从前部22进入盒10的另一个配合连接器的套圈之间的套圈对准。
从盒10的前部22进入盒10的配合连接器可以通过安装在连接块50上的光纤光学适配器21连接。盒10的前部22处的适配器21允许诸如LC连接器之类的常规连接器配合于位于盒10的内部28内的非常规连接器20。这样的适配器或适配器块可以被卡扣配合、超声焊接或另外附接到盒体26的其余部分。在图1-图2的盒10的图示实施例中,将与盒10一起使用的适配器的尺寸被设为接纳配合LC连接器。
图1-图2的盒10可以是密封的或可以是可打开的,以便允许内集线器46和套圈44的修理或清洁。柔性光纤光学电路12可以允许能够为了清洁或更换而移除包括MPO连接器16的整个光纤束。
从形成柔性光学电路12的基板24的后端54延伸出的光纤尾线14可以被端接到MPO连接器16的MT套圈。从基板24的前端58延伸出的光纤尾线14被各个地端接到套圈44,以被定位在盒10的前部22。如所示,基板24限定各自被以间隔开的配置提供的前延伸部59(每根光纤14一个),用于提供一些灵活性给基板24。各个光纤14在基板24的后部54处从带状化部分分离出,并通过基板24路由到各个前延伸部59。通过使用刚性基板,当光纤正要被端接到套管44时,可以将光纤的端部劈开,并且可以同时地抛光从基板24延伸的所有的套管44的端部。
如上面所提到的,图1-图2的盒只是可以利用本公开的发明的预制光纤光学电路的光纤光学盒的一个示例。盒10的柔性光纤光学电路12可以被根据要在下面进一步详细讨论的本公开的方法制备的预制光学电路所替代。
现在参考图3-图6,图示了将两个多光纤连接器62转换成三个多光纤连接器64并包括暗光纤66的常规柔性光纤光学电路60的另一个示例。应当注意的是,这样的柔性电路是可以被根据要在下面进一步详细讨论的本公开的方法制备的预制光学电路所替代的光纤电路的另一个示例。
仍然参考图3-图6,在图示的示例中,示出了挠性箔68,该挠性箔68带有连接到由箔68组织和支撑的各种光纤65的多个连接器62、64。如所示,并非所有提供的光纤65都携带信号。具体地,在箔68的带有三个连接器64的侧上,十二根光纤中的仅八根光纤65携带信号,并且中间的四根是暗光纤66。如果不存在这样的未使用的光纤66,那么在抛光期间有机会多光纤套圈可能变坏。

如将在下面进一步详细描述的,根据一个示例实施例,用于支撑光纤102的柔性箔层140可以由聚对苯二甲酸乙二酯(PET)形成。然而,应当理解的是,PET只是可以用于形成本公开的柔性箔的一种非限制性示例聚合物,以及具有类似特性并且能够按预定的朝向至少半刚性地支撑光纤的其它聚合物也可在根据本公开的发明构思中使用。
在根据图13-图20中概述的方法制备图7-图9和图10-图12的预制光纤电路100、200之后,通过在电路100/200的在识别标志部分122和挠性箔部分118之间的带部分120处进行切割将电路100/200的挠性箔部分118全部地移除。一旦通过切割和抛光在带部分120处制备了光纤102的端部,端部就已准备好被端接到光纤光学连接器。识别标志部分122可以被保留在适当的位置作为正确地将光纤102从一件装备的一端定向到另一端的标记。绞合光纤部分124也被保留作裸光纤102。预制光纤光学电路100/200的两个相对端均以如刚刚描述的相同的方式被处理。
应当注意的是,在某些情况下,代替端接到光纤光学连接器的套圈,带部分120(或者甚至绞合光纤部分124)可以经由拼接操作被连接到其它带或连接器(多光纤/单工)短截光纤(stub fiber)。
现在参考图13-图24,本文详述了包括四个不同部分110、112、114、116的示例性预制光纤光学电路100/200的制备。
具体地参考图13,载体126用于初始地支撑本公开的预制光纤电路100(或200)。根据一个示例实施例,载体126可以是具有硅化的顶层的板,并且可以被提供为常规上用在形成柔性光纤光学电路中的一件装备或机器的一部分。
参考图14,如在图解视图中所看到的,提供了包括两层柔性箔(例如,PET箔)的基板128,用于初始地支撑预制光纤光学电路100。两层PET箔被堆叠并由粘合剂分隔。
如在图14中所看到的,当从底部载体126开始以横截面观察时,基板128包括可移除粘贴物层130、第一粘合剂层132、第一层PET箔134、第二粘合剂层136、硅树脂层138、第二层PET箔140、第三粘合剂层142以及最终纸层144。
根据示例实施例,可移除粘贴物层130可以是带有用于从载体126的可移除性的粘合剂涂覆物的聚乙烯共聚物(PE)层。在某些实施例中,可移除粘贴物130可以具有大约0.07毫米(mm)的厚度。
如所看到的,第一层PET箔134被两个粘合剂层132、136围住。第二层PET箔140在厚度上可以为大约0.05mm,并带有硅化侧138以便于脱离。在第二层PET箔140上的第三粘合剂层142可以是具有大约0.13mm的厚度的丙烯酸200MP粘合剂。顶部纸层144可以是具有大约0.11mm的厚度的聚酯涂覆的牛皮纸(Polycoated Kraft Paper,PCK)。
现在参考图15,作为处理中的下一步骤,用例如CO2激光将图案切入到顶部PET箔层140中。切割可以延伸到第一PET箔层134,如图15中所示。应当注意的是,最小切割深度优选地延伸超过顶部PET箔层140的硅化侧138,到达第二粘合剂层136。以及,最大切割深度优选地延伸超过第一PET箔134的下侧处的粘合剂132,到达可移除粘贴物层130。
如将进一步详细描述的,最小切割深度被设置为便于顶部PET箔层140的移除或剥离,用于制备本公开的预制光纤光学电路100。最大切割深度被设置为便于将下部PET箔层134和粘贴物130从可再用载体126移除或剥离,其中下部PET箔层134和粘贴物130被释放,如将要讨论的。
现在参考图16,移除激光切割的顶部PET箔层140部分(包括硅树脂层138、顶部PET箔层140、第三粘合剂层142以及纸层144)。如所示,未切割的部分保留在基板128上。从整个基板128移除顶部纸层144,从而保留在剩余的基板128上的暴露的第三粘合剂层142作为顶层。

应当注意的是,本文所描述的处理允许已按预定的配置路由在基板128上的绞合光纤102维持它们的初始配置,包括在它们从电路的一端延伸到相对端时交叉的任何光纤102(如图7-图12的电路100、200中所示)。
现在参考图25,其中图示的是根据图13-图20的方法制备的混合型光纤光学电路300,其中混合电路300包括挠性箔部分118和绞合光纤部分124两者,其中挠性箔部分118不一定用于识别目的,但是用于将光纤102固定在预定的朝向上。
在图示的完全端接的光纤光学电路300中,电路300的光纤102的第一端被端接到单工光纤光学连接器302(例如,LC连接器),以及电路的光纤102的第二端被端接到多光纤连接器304。混合光纤光学电路300的与单工光纤光学连接器302相邻的部分118包括由挠性箔(例如,PET箔层140并由硅树脂涂覆物146涂覆)支撑的按预定的布置的多根光纤102,以及光纤光学电路300的与多光纤连接器304相邻的部分124包括按预定的布置的多根未涂覆的裸绞合光纤102。这样的混合光纤光学电路可以提供在具有挠性箔的电路300的第一端处所需的精度,其中光纤被各个地端接到单工光纤光学连接器302,并且可以提供在电路300的第二端处的一些灵活性,其中在端接到多光纤连接器304中可能必须操纵或重新加工裸光纤。

Claims (32)
1.一种制备预制光纤光学电路的方法,所述预制光纤光学电路用于随后到至少一个光纤光学连接器的端接,所述方法包括:
-提供用于支撑多根光导纤维的基板,所述基板包括至少一层柔性箔;以及
-从所述至少一层柔性箔剥离包括至少光导纤维的层。
2.根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中所述柔性箔由聚对苯二甲酸乙二酯PET形成。
3.根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中剥离的层还包括用包括硅树脂的涂覆物涂覆的至少一部分。
4.根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中剥离的层仅包括裸光导纤维。
5.根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中剥离的层包括粘合剂。
6.根据权利要求2所述的方法,其中所述基板包括两层PET箔。
7.根据权利要求2所述的方法,其中剥离的层还包括PET箔层。
8.根据权利要求7所述的方法,其中包括PET箔层的剥离的层被用作识别标志,所述识别标志限定用于在到所述至少一个光纤光学连接器的端接之前以正确的朝向来定向光纤的标记。
9.根据权利要求2所述的方法,其中所述基板包括两层PET箔,该两层包括上PET箔层,所述上PET箔层支撑从也从载体板剥离的下PET箔层剥离掉的光导纤维,其中所述下PET箔层被丢弃。
10.根据权利要求9所述的方法,其中所述两层PET箔初始地经由粘合剂结合。
11.根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中所述光导纤维包括在光纤从第一端延伸到第二端时交叉的至少两根光纤。
12.一种预制光纤光学电路,所述预制光纤光学电路被配置用于到至少一个光纤光学连接器的端接,所述预制光纤光学电路包括:
按预定的布置来布置的多根光导纤维,其中光导纤维的至少一部分由柔性箔层支撑,以及至少一部分由包括硅树脂的涂覆物涂覆。
13.根据权利要求12所述的预制光纤光学电路,其中所述柔性箔由聚对苯二甲酸乙二酯PET形成。
14.根据权利要求12所述的预制光纤光学电路,其中所述多根光导纤维还包括未被柔性箔层支撑并且未被包括硅树脂的涂覆物涂覆的至少一部分。
15.根据权利要求14所述的预制光纤光学电路,其中光导纤维是裸光纤。
16.根据权利要求12所述的预制光纤光学电路,其中由包括硅树脂的涂覆物涂覆的部分与由柔性箔层支撑的部分至少部分地重叠。
17.根据权利要求16所述的预制光纤光学电路,其中与由柔性箔层支撑的部分至少部分地重叠的由包括硅树脂的涂覆物涂覆的部分被用作识别标志,所述识别标志限定用于在到所述至少一个光纤光学连接器的端接之前以正确的朝向来定向光纤的标记。
18.根据权利要求12所述的预制光纤光学电路,其中光导纤维的一端由多光纤连接器端接。
19.根据权利要求12所述的预制光纤光学电路,其中每根光导纤维的一端与单工光纤光学连接器端接。
20.根据权利要求19所述的预制光纤光学电路,其中单工连接器是LC格式连接器。
21.根据权利要求12所述的预制光纤光学电路,其中每根光导纤维的一端端接到多光纤连接器,以及相对端连接到单工连接器。
22.根据权利要求12所述的预制光纤光学电路,其中光导纤维的由柔性箔层支撑的部分还包括在光纤和柔性箔层之间的粘合剂。
23.根据权利要求12所述的预制光纤光学电路,其中光导纤维包括在光纤从第一端延伸到第二端时交叉的至少两根光纤。
24.一种预制光纤光学电路,所述预制光纤光学电路被配置用于到至少一个光纤光学连接器的端接,所述预制光纤光学电路包括:
按预定的布置来布置的多根光导纤维,其中光导纤维的至少一部分由柔性箔层支撑,其中由柔性箔层支撑的部分至少部分地由包括硅树脂的涂覆物涂覆,其中多根光导纤维还包括未被柔性箔层支撑并且未被包括硅树脂的涂覆物涂覆的至少一部分。
25.根据权利要求24所述的预制光纤光学电路,其中所述柔性箔由聚对苯二甲酸乙二酯PET形成。
26.根据权利要求24所述的预制光纤光学电路,其中光导纤维的由柔性箔层支撑的部分还包括在光纤和柔性箔层之间的粘合剂。
27.根据权利要求24所述的预制光纤光学电路,其中光导纤维的未被柔性箔层支撑并且未被包括硅树脂的涂覆物涂覆的部分是裸光纤。
28.根据权利要求24所述的预制光纤光学电路,其中每根光导纤维的一端由多光纤连接器端接。
29.根据权利要求24所述的预制光纤光学电路,其中每根光导纤维的一端与单工光纤光学连接器端接。
30.根据权利要求29所述的预制光纤光学电路,其中单工连接器是LC格式连接器。
31.根据权利要求24所述的预制光纤光学电路,其中每根光导纤维的一端端接到多光纤连接器,以及相对端连接到单工连接器。
