消费者通常购买封装在一次性容器内的即用产品,例如食物和饮料。绝热容器可设计成用于热的或冷的液体或食物,例如热咖啡、冰茶或比萨。这些容器可通过防止热或冷从内装物传递到消费者手中而维持液体或食物内装物的温度。
发明内容
一种包装物或容器包括侧壁,所述侧壁具有内表面和外表面。所述侧壁的所述内表面或所述外表面中的至少一个表面至少部分地涂布有一层可热膨胀的材料。该材料可适于膨胀以提供热绝缘。

具体实施方式
一种包装物或容器可由诸如套管的冲切坯件构成和/或通过其被绝缘。该冲切坯件可固定到容器上,或者该冲切坯件是可移除的。可热膨胀的材料可施加到容器和/或冲切坯件上。也可采用不是通过温度而膨胀的可膨胀材料。该材料可在到达最终使用者之前、例如在制造容器和/或冲切坯件时膨胀,而且/或者该材料可仅在最终使用并仅相应于确定温度而膨胀。可采用该材料来帮助容器和/或冲切坯件的绝缘性能,并且/或者提高容器和/或冲切坯件的刚性,例如减小容器和/或冲切坯件的材料部件的厚度。

可在容器101和坯件102之间施加可热激发的涂料。可膨胀材料可以通过热或冷的温度而热激发,还可以是可膨胀的涂料或粘胶,包括但不限于,粘合剂、可膨胀微球体或其他的微型包覆颗粒、颜料或其他添加剂,或者这些材料或其他材料的任意组合。材料在潮湿或干燥时是可膨胀的。材料可包括任何的合成或天然的材料,包括水基、溶剂基、高固体份或100%固体份材料。固体份含量通常为材料的30%至80%,更加优选的为40%至70%。可向粘合剂添加另外的成分,包括但不限于添加颜料或染料、填充物/补充剂、分散用表面活性剂、用以控制粘性以进行最佳施加的增厚剂或溶剂、去泡剂、诸如蜡或乳化剂等。可选的是,粘合剂可以是粘胶。可膨胀材料可具有若干性质,包括但是不限于,保持容器内装物为热或为冷的热绝缘性,和/或其可在与热材料(例如超过150°F)接触时膨胀,并优选在确定设计的激发温度之前,诸如在大约室温下保持为非活性状态。涂料可以是可再制浆的、可回收的和/或可生物降解的。

被涂布的冲切坯件可被移除,或例如通过在容器周围卷绕冲切坯件而被永久地附连到容器或杯子上。例如,可利用用以固定冲切坯件的热熔和可膨胀材料、利用具有粘附性质的可膨胀材料、这些或任意其他粘附的组合或密封方法通过将冲切坯件层压到容器上而制造单件式杯子或容器101。如果冲切坯件102在制造过程中被永久地附连到容器101上(即,产生一体化的单件式杯子),则由于取消了由最终商业消费者进行的组装步骤而提高了效率。而且,其可降低最终商业消费者所需的存储空间量(只需存储一个物品而不是两个物品)。附图中所示的冲切坯件的形状并非是限定性的。冲切坯件的形状可适于其他容器的形状,例如但是不限于,汤罐、挤压形成的容器或散装饮料容器。
可选的,冲切坯件602可含有缝内热熔物604或冷固胶。如果可膨胀材料408也是粘胶,则可省掉缝内热熔物或冷固胶604。除了可膨胀材料408之外,还可使用缝内热熔/冷固胶604来用于例如增强结合。可例如通过卷绕、层压或其他制造方法来将冲切坯件施加到杯子上。
图7至图11示出了冲切坯件402的其他实施例。这些实施例仅仅是示意性的,而非限定性的。图7示出了一种冲切坯件602,其中可膨胀材料408施加为图案709的形式以引导热的释放。冲切坯件602可例如由瓦楞纸制成,例如但是不限于槽纹瓦楞纸。可通过瓦楞、施加可膨胀材料的图案或其他合适的方式引导传导。
图8至图11示出了可膨胀材料的可能图案的其他可能的非限制性实施例。可膨胀材料的图案分别由附图标记809、909、1009和1109表示。可以以不同于图7至图11所示的图案施加可膨胀材料。可膨胀材料809、909、1009和1109的图案的厚度分别可变化,并形成循序渐进的流动以将热引导至冲切开口。冲切开口分别由附图标记814、912、1012和1112表示。冲切开口还可形成为和/或包括例如由附图标记812、914、1014和1114所表示的形状。冲切开口可存在于坯件的相对两端处或仅仅在一端处。图8至图11中的冲切开口的形状仅仅是示意性的,而非限制性的。例如,可膨胀材料的图案以及冲切开口的形状可布置成引导气流从而例如但不限于产生文丘里(Venturi)效应。
图12为示出了示例性热传导的示意性实施例。该实施例并非是限制性的,而仅仅是可能的热损失操作的示意。系统的总热损失可由以下等式表示:
QT[卡/秒]=Q1+Q2+Q3+Q4
其中,QT为总的热损失。Q11204为由于水蒸发而产生的热损失。分别由1202、1206和1208表示的Q2、Q3、Q4可代表对流热损失和传导热损失。
保持内装物为热的目的可通过使QT最小化而实现。冲切坯件可通过使得Q2、Q3和Q4最小化而使QT最小。可膨胀材料的低热传导性可由于Q2、Q3和Q4而导致更低的热损失。
防止消费者体部灼伤的目的可例如通过使Q2、Q3和Q4、特别是使Q2、Q3最小化、同时允许Q1和Q4将(由于热流体而产生的)不可避免的高热通量垂直向上或向下引导而实现。这例如可通过向冲切坯件添设瓦楞槽而实现。这些槽例如可大致是垂直的或是对角倾斜的。
以下为非限制性实施例。
实施例1。实施例1提供可膨胀材料如何能改变热传导性的图解。杯子内侧的温度可由Ti表示。杯子外侧的温度可由To表示。上面的线X表示没有涂布冲切坯件的容器。第二根线Y代表组装有涂布冲切坯件的容器。该实施例示出了,在没有涂布可膨胀材料的冲切坯件102的容器中,容器内侧温度和容器外侧温度的差值非常小。在具有涂布了温度激发材料的冲切坯件的容器中,容器内侧和容器外侧之间的温度差在热食物或饮料添加到容器中时较小。但是,食物或饮料在接触后可激发材料A,从而使得材料膨胀。在材料膨胀时,温度差Ti-To可升高。
实施例2。实施例2示出了涂布有可热膨胀的材料的各种冲切坯件材料和没有涂布可热膨胀的材料的冲切坯件材料的温度感觉对比。以下的试样仅仅是示例性的,而非限制性的,可获得其他实验结果。
可将可热膨胀或可通过其他方式膨胀的材料施加到由各种材料制成的冲切坯件上,这些材料例如但不限于纸、纸板、槽纹瓦楞纸。每一冲切坯件都可卷绕在诸如杯子的容器上。杯子可被热水填充。然后用裸手握持杯子,并将对于两种情况的感觉响应进行比较。在每一测试中,与具有未涂布冲切坯件的杯子相比,具有涂布冲切坯件的杯子感觉起来更少“热”。在将热水注入到杯子后几分钟之后发生膨胀。
实施例3。可通过涂敷而将涂料施加到单面介质上。在利用MASTERMITE120V,475W的热枪在600F度的温度下使涂料变湿时,涂料可膨胀。
实施例4。可将涂料施加到12Oz杯子的外侧,并允许涂料在一夜间风干。隔天,将190F度的热水注入到该杯子中。在将190F度的热水填充到该杯子中之后不久,就能观察到显著的膨胀。可将盖子放置在杯子上,7分钟之后能观察到更大的膨胀,但还是局部的膨胀。热后激发的优点在于,液体越热,则涂料膨胀越大。
实施例5。将涂料施加到杯子上。由材料Fisher Scientific制造的型号为11-540-50的250W IR加热器加热涂料。在灯离开涂料6英寸远时,膨胀较为缓慢,而离开涂料1英寸远时,膨胀立即进行。过多的热和时间将使基板表面产生涂料变形。
实施例6。可将涂料施加到纸上,然后在涂料风干后将纸卷绕到纸杯上。可采用来自热枪的热将涂料的间接穿过纸壳的那一部分加热一分钟。涂料膨胀。另一部分未加热涂料可通过纸在IR灯下加热。涂料膨胀。
图13为双壁容器101的侧视剖面图。该双壁容器101可在外壁1300和容器101的内装物1302(注入热的或冷的饮料或食物)之间形成空气罩。该空气罩可针对外侧表面温度T0提供热绝缘。该空气罩可部分地或完全地环绕容器101。在握持容器101时,施加在外壁1300上的压力起到了使外壁1300在压力点处塌下从而减小空气罩的作用,并有可能引发与容器101的内壁1304的接触。空气罩可在压力点处坍塌,并产生低刚度的感觉,而且如果不采用可热膨胀的涂料216该接触可在外壁1300上产生热点。
如果采用足够量的涂料216,则涂料216可起到提供刚性而不破坏空气罩相对于外壁1300的热绝缘的作用,这样外壁1330就不会完全或部分地塌下。涂料216可为容器101增加机械强度。由于涂料216所增加的机械强度,从而可采用轻质材料来制造容器101,从而可减少形成容器101的基板的源材料。可以以点状(例如多个点)或其他图案将涂料101施加到内壁1304、外壁1300或内壁以及外壁上都施加,从而涂料216形成气隙,并防止容器101在握持压力的作用下坍塌。涂料101还可向使用者提供刚硬的感觉,同时可使基板材料减少。
图14为向基板施加微颗粒涂料的示例性过程的框图。该过程可包括向基板、冲切坯件、容器、套筒、餐饮盘、双壁杯、挤压成形盘、汤罐和箱内袋容器中的任何一种施加微球体或其他可膨胀涂料。该过程可包括在线过程1400和离线过程1410。在线过程1400可包括用于从纸或冲切原料制造容器的容器堆栈站1420、制造站1430和包装站1440。堆栈站、制造站和包装站可以是完全自动化的和/或包括手动站。
涂料施加过程可在同一设备或另一设备处在线1400或离线1410进行。在线施加可包括在堆栈站1420、制造站1430和包装站1440中的一个或多个处施加涂料。可以以多种方式施加涂料,这些方式包括但是不限于刷子、海绵、印刷、喷嘴、喷射器和槽式涂布机。这些施加中的任何一种或它们的各种组合都可在线1400或离线1410进行,其中离线过程可在堆栈阶段1420之前进行。
通过刷子或多个刷子进行的施加可通过在压力下将涂料穿过管供给刷子而进行。刷子可由不同的材料制成,例如马毛或合成材料。刷子可包括中空的细丝,从而可通过细丝来施加涂料。刷子可施加一定样式或图案的涂料。可控制施加到刷子上的涂料的量,从而可计量施加到基板上的涂料的量。作为一示意性而非限制性实施例,该量可以被控制为施加1/64英寸的涂料层,该涂料层可膨胀为1/16或1/32英寸,或者为该双壁杯的内层和外层之间的间隙的距离。优选的是,涂料在膨胀后并不使外层的形状变形。涂料可以以均匀图案或变化着的图案分布。刷子可用于更多的应用,例如涂布箱内袋容器的内侧。
可通过穿过辊子运行基板而进行利用印刷机的施加。基板可以是辊形或网形的造纸原料,或者可选地呈片材形。涂料可以以点状或图案或通过完全覆盖的方式挤压施加涂料,这取决于实施形式。
在图15中,可采用喷射喷嘴1500向基板1520施加涂料1510。喷嘴可散发涂料,以在基板上施加薄的、均匀的涂料层。可采用一个或多个喷射喷嘴来形成连续或断续图案的涂层。喷嘴可布置成使得所施加的涂料重叠、并排和/或间隔开一定距离。可对喷射进行计量以控制所施加涂料的厚度。喷嘴还可定位成将涂料喷流引导到基板的指定部位,例如定位在角部处。
在图16中,可采用非喷射喷嘴1600来向基板1620施加涂料流1610。可计量通过喷嘴的涂料流,以施加精确量的涂料。喷嘴的大小可确定为控制住指定宽度和高度的涂料流1610。可接通和关闭来自喷嘴的流动,以使得能在基板上形成特定图案的涂层。
在槽或浸渍涂布施加中,可使基板移动通过含有涂布材料的槽。基板的一侧或两侧可穿过槽。可通过基板座放在材料中多久而控制施加到槽上的涂料的厚度。涂料和基板的温度可控制成在涂布处理中激发或不激发可膨胀涂料。可采用控制刀片来刮走过多的涂料。基板可通过带供给通过槽或单独地保持在槽中。
通过以上施加处理中的任何一种,并通过任何其他的处理,如果需要在稍后的过程中(例如在制造过程中或在消费者使用时)使涂料膨胀,则可例如通过施加或吹送冷的空气或温暖的空气而无需激活涂料从而使所施加的涂料变干或固化。涂料还可在制造后和消费者使用前进行膨胀,例如在堆栈站1440。涂料还可在堆叠容器之前或之后进行膨胀。
涂布或未涂布的坯件可供给到堆栈站1420。可在在线或离线的过程中施加涂料。如果在线地进行施加,则可在形成杯子、套筒、容器等之前使涂料变干,或者可在涂料是湿的时候形成杯子、套筒、容器等。涂料变干要花费几秒种到几分钟的时间,这取决于其性质。可在在线制造的过程中或其后(例如在消费阶段)激发涂料。为了在线激发涂料,可采用红外(IR)、空气、热对流或热传导方法中的任一种或所有这些方法。涂料可花费几秒钟至几分钟来完全膨胀。例如,在容器制造过程中,可采用芯材(其从容器内侧保持容器)和/或环箍(其从容器外侧保持杯子)来施加热以使涂料膨胀。如果湿或部分干燥的涂料在处理过程中接触芯材,则芯材可被制造为包括诸如TEFLON的非粘性材料以防止将涂料粘到或传送到芯材上。如果在线进行激活,则较低的激活温度是优选的。通过激发涂料,涂料膨胀为形成加强空气间隙。在制造容器的过程中,涂料可部分膨胀,然后,膨胀可继续进行到消费阶段。
如上所述,使用涂料可有助于减小制造容器、套筒等所需的基板厚度,而同时维持对消费者而言有较好的刚硬感觉。涂料还可提高容器的绝缘性能,并有助于在更长的时间内保持饮料或食物是温的或冷的(这取决于应用场合)。基板可由天然纤维、合成纤维或二者制成,例如SBS(固体漂白硫酸盐)纸板或制盒用纸板。套筒材料,诸如内衬和介质可由15LB/3000ft2至100LB/3000ft2、优选为18LB/3000ft2至50LB/3000ft2的材料制成。用于热或冷的杯子、汤罐、挤压成形容器或其他非瓦楞容器的纸基板的厚度(caliper)可在9点至24点、优选在10点至24点的范围内,其中一点等于1/1000英寸。
尽管已经描述了本发明的各种实施方式,但是本领域技术人员显而易见的是,可以有落入本发明范围内的更多实施方式和实施形式。

Claims (13)

1.一种双壁容器,其包括:
内壁;
外壁,该外壁附连到所述内壁,其中所述内壁和所述外壁在它们之间形成空气罩;以及
可膨胀的绝缘材料,该材料为可热激发的并定位在所述内壁和所述外壁之间,所述材料包括粘合剂和可膨胀微型包覆颗粒的组合,并且被施加到所述内壁、所述外壁、或所述内壁和所述外壁上以形成空气通道,其中,所述可膨胀的绝缘材料为所述外壁提供刚性以防止所述外壁在握持压力的作用下坍塌在所述内壁上,而不破坏所述空气罩的热绝缘的作用;
粘胶,以可膨胀的绝缘材料分开,该粘胶将内壁粘接到外壁;
其中,空气通道构造为引导热对流。
2.根据权利要求1所述的双壁容器,其中,所述微型包覆颗粒包括可膨胀的微球体。
3.根据权利要求1所述的双壁容器,其中,所述可膨胀绝缘材料为所述内壁和所述外壁之间提供热绝缘。
4.根据权利要求1所述的双壁容器,其中,所述粘合剂为粘胶。
5.根据权利要求4所述的双壁容器,其中,所述微型包覆颗粒包括可膨胀的微球体。
6.根据权利要求1所述的双壁容器,其中,所述外壁由造纸原料构成。
7.根据权利要求6所述的双壁容器,其中,所述可膨胀绝缘材料允许所述造纸原料的重量减小。
8.根据权利要求1所述的双壁容器,其中,所述可膨胀绝缘材料被热的温度激发而膨胀。
9.根据权利要求1所述的双壁容器,其中,所述可膨胀绝缘材料以点状方式施加。
10.根据权利要求1所述的双壁容器,其中,所述可膨胀绝缘材料以带状方式施加。
11.一种制造双壁容器的方法,其包括:
提供第一基板以形成容器的内壁;
提供第二基板以形成所述容器的外壁;
提供可热膨胀的绝缘材料,该材料包括粘合剂和可膨胀微型包覆颗粒的组合;
将所述可热膨胀的绝缘材料施加到所述内壁;
将与可热膨胀的绝缘材料分开的粘胶施加到所述内壁;
将所述外壁附连到所述内壁上以形成双壁容器,该双壁容器具有在所述内壁和所述外壁之间的空气罩;以及
对双壁容器施加热,通过热激发使所述可热膨胀的绝缘材料膨胀,其中,经热膨胀的绝缘材料为所述外壁提供刚性以防止所述外壁在握持压力的作用下坍塌在所述内壁上,而不破坏所述空气罩的热绝缘的作用。
12.根据权利要求11所述的方法,其中以点状方式施加所述可热膨胀的绝缘材料。
13.根据权利要求11所述的方法,其中以带状方式施加所述可热膨胀的绝缘材料。
