如果可重复使用的外覆盖件被身体流出物诸如尿液、粪便或汗液或环境污染物所脏污，则它们在重复使用之前需要洗涤。护理人员也可选择洗涤外覆盖件以使其复新、去除恶臭、添加悦人的芳香剂、或大致复原其形状、整洁度和/或外观。一般来讲，护理人员可期望更昂贵的外覆盖件可洗涤更大数目的洗涤循环次数，而不显著地劣化外覆盖件的物理特性或外观。与可洗涤的外覆盖件相比，耐洗涤的外覆盖件一般可由不太昂贵的材料制成；因此，与可洗涤的外覆盖件相比，预期随着洗涤循环次数的不断增加它们会更快速地劣化，例如，在较少次数的洗涤循环之后劣化超过有效点。
尽管外覆盖件在多次洗涤循环之后的审美外观对于一些护理人员所感知到的外覆盖件的价值来讲是重要的，但可接受的外观在很大程度上取决于个体偏好。此外，甚至具有更“穿旧”外观的外覆盖件在某些场所中(例如，在家里)或在某些使用场合中(例如，在夜间或当孩子生病诸如得了痢疾时)也是可接受而被穿着的。因此，更为关键的是，耐洗涤的外覆盖件和可洗涤的外覆盖件分别在至少一次洗涤循环和10次洗涤循环之后能够具有它们的预期用途。
外覆盖件应当在预期的最少次数的洗涤循环之后保持显著的尺寸稳定性。由于外覆盖件的尺寸显著地影响外覆盖件所将舒适地、牢固地和/或无间隙地贴合的穿着者的身材，因此希望在外覆盖件的使用寿命内，外覆盖件的尺寸变化小于约10％，更优选地小于约5％。一些可洗涤的外覆盖件可从第一次洗涤循环(即，对先前未洗涤过的外覆盖件进行初始洗涤)经历显著的一次性收缩，收缩方式类似于其他耐用可穿着制品诸如由纺织物和/或织造材料制成的衣服固有地经历收缩的方式。在这些情况下，制品或其组件可由制造商或消费者进行预洗涤，以避免在制品的第一次使用循环中产生任何潜在的贴合性问题。然而，对于确实从第一次洗涤循环经历了显著的一次性收缩的可洗涤的外覆盖件来讲，希望在第一次洗涤之后外覆盖件的尺寸变化小于约10％，更优选地小于约5％。作为另外一种选择，可洗涤的制品可由耐收缩材料制成。另一方面，就耐洗涤的制品而言，由于此类制品的预期产品使用寿命较短，因此希望它们在一次洗涤循环之后保持尺寸稳定性。

另外，在洗涤之后，外覆盖件应当在制品被拉伸且能够恢复之后在腰区中保持张力。如果给定延伸下的全产品后部延伸卸荷力减小得太多，则产品可具有显著松垂、间隙和由于持续贴合性不足而渗漏的风险。在制品的预期使用寿命期间，给定延伸下的全产品后部延伸卸荷力在重复的洗涤循环之后的减小应当不超过约25％，且更优选地10％。在制品的预期使用寿命期间，25％延伸下的绝对全产品后部延伸卸荷力在重复的洗涤循环之后应当保持大于约0.5N，优选大于约0.75N和1.0N。

如表1所示，所述示例性耐洗涤的外覆盖件的在85％应变下的腿部力在5次洗涤循环之后增加了60-70％。所述示例性可洗涤的外覆盖件的在85％应变下的腿部力在第一10次洗涤循环中保持相对恒定。

测量准则
为了测量外覆盖件的后腰区的总体横向宽度：1)将外覆盖件平坦放置在水平表面上，使内侧朝上；2)将校准过的直尺放置在外覆盖件的顶部上，置于后腰区中，使直尺取向成平行于外覆盖件的横向中心线(这样做时不要拉伸或整平外覆盖件)；3)平行于横向中心线从外覆盖件的一个侧边上的最远横向外侧点至外覆盖件的另一侧边上的最远横向外侧点测量总体直线距离；4)记录测量值，精确至毫米。

用于确定全产品后部延伸力的测试方法
全产品后部延伸力是使用负载传感器在具有计算机接口的定速伸长张力检验器(一种合适的仪器为使用Testworks 4.0软件的MTS Alliance，如得自MTS Systems Corp.(Eden Prairie，MN)的那种)上进行测量，被测量的力在所述传感器的极限值的10％至90％范围内。活动的(上)和静止的(下)气动式夹具均配有1英寸×1英寸的金刚石面的夹头。

将隔距设定为如图1所示的长度195。归零夹头。将样品插入到上夹头中，将邻近113的扣件154的边缘与夹头面的下边缘对齐，并且闭合夹头。归零负载传感器。将样品的另一端插入到下夹头中，将邻近113的扣件154的边缘与夹头面的上边缘对齐，并且闭合夹头。样品应当受到足够的张力以消除样本中的任何松弛。启动张力检验器的程序，并且记录数据。
报告第一载荷循环时25％应变下的力(N)和第一卸荷循环时25％应变下的力(N)，精确至±0.01N。
用于确定85％延伸下的腿部力的测试方法

报告源自第二卸荷循环的在85％延伸下的力(N)，精确至±0.01N。
本公开的实施方案包括在洗涤之后性能良好的可重复使用的外覆盖件。这些外覆盖件的设计有助于防止可穿着吸收制品在穿着者身上发生松垂或下滑。因此，具有本公开的可重复使用的外覆盖件的可穿着吸收制品可使人感觉舒适、看起来美观且性能良好，因为这些制品趋于保持在穿着者身上的适当位置并且不渗漏。

3.如权利要求1所述的可重复使用的外覆盖件，其中所述外覆盖件对于第一次洗涤循环经历小于或等于约20％的第一尺寸收缩。
4.如权利要求1所述的可重复使用的外覆盖件，其中所述外覆盖件为可洗涤的。
5.如权利要求1所述的可重复使用的外覆盖件，其中所述外覆盖件为耐洗涤的。
6.如权利要求1所述的可重复使用的外覆盖件，其中所述外覆盖件在至少一次洗涤循环之后经历小于或等于约10％的尺寸收缩。
7.如权利要求6所述的可重复使用的外覆盖件，其中所述外覆盖件因第一次洗涤循环而经历第一尺寸收缩，并且对于所述第一次洗涤循环之后的洗涤循环经历小于或等于约10％的后续尺寸收缩。
