(Cl. 128-484) This invention generally relates to a garment and more particularly to that type of panty incorporating a diaper used for babies in which the panty incorporates a removable diaper which is easily positioned and replaced for expediting the changing of diapers, laundering of the garment and generally facilitating proper care for the child.
The primary object of the present invention is to provide an improved type of panty which may be employed as a diaper holder or employed as a training panty after the child has passed the stage of diaper use, and, further, to provide means for detachable engagement with a blouse type of garment, such as a shirt or the like, for retaining the panty in the desired position and for retaining the shirt in the desired position.
A further object of the present invention is to provide a panty construction incorporating a construction which may be employed in conjunction with triple thickness diapers for small children, single thickness diapers of material which may be employed with doll babies, and also a diaper of disposable material, all of which employ the same inventive concept and all of which employ a panty of substantially hour-glass construction for fitting a child or doll baby.
Other objects of the present invention will reside in its simplicity of construction, ease of assembly on an infant, ease of assembly of the diaper thereon, and its relatively inexpensive manufacturing cost.
These together with other objects and advantages which will become subsequently apparent reside in the details of construction and operation as more fully hereinafter described and claimed, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming a part hereof, wherein like numerals refer to like parts throughout, and in which:
FlGURE 1 is a perspective view of the panty construction of the present invention;
FIGURE 2 is a vertical sectional view taken substantially upon a plane passing along section line 2-2 of FIGURE 1 illustrating the details of construction thereof;

FEGURE 9 is a plan view of another panty construction in which the entire panty is made of knit cloth only; and
FIGURE 10 is a schematic view of a shirt type garment which may be employed with the panty construction of the present invention.
Referring now specifically to FIGURES l-5 of the official drawings, the numeral Iii generally designates the panty construction of the present invention, which includes a main body panel generally designated by the nurneral 12 which is substantially in the shape of an hourglass having concave portions 14 and convex portions 16 on the side edges thereof and parallel end edges 18. In-
wardly extending, triangular darts 20 may be provided on the convex edge portions 16 for permitting the panel 12 to more nearly fit the device upon which the panty can be mounted.
The body panel 12 is constructed of an outer layer of fabric material designated by the numeral 22 and an inner layer of waterproof material designated by the numeral 24 which may be suitable plastic or the like.
Adjacent each end edge 13 is an elongated elastic strap member 2a, with each elastic strap member 26 having a snap fastener element 23 at each end thereof wherein the snap fastener elements 28 may be secured to each other in waist encircling relation for mounting the panty 10 in position. Also provided on each elasitc member 26 is a pair of spaced snap fastener elements 33 disposed inwardly of the snap fastener elements 28 for engagement with similar snap fastener elements 32 on a rectangular diaper member 34 which is of single thickness and is disposed against the inner surface of the panel 12 with the snap fastener elements 32 detachably mounting the diaper 34 in position. The elastic member 26 adjacent the long end edge 18 may also be provided with extra snap fastener elements 36 which may be employed for adjusting the effective length of the waist portion of the panty lltl or for engagement with snap fastener elements on a shirt or garment as described hereinafter.
Referring now specifically to FIGURES 6 and 7 of the drawings, the numeral 40 designates a modified form of the panty construction of the present invention, including an hour-glass panel 42 having an outer layer 44 of cloth and an inner layer 45 of waterproof plastic material. End elastic strap members 48 are provided adjacent each end of the body 42 and short elastic strap members 54} are disposed adjacent each concave edge portion 52 of the body panel 42 for more nearly conforming the side edges to the contours of the body of the child for rendering the panty construction more waterproof and to prevent any possible leakage from the panty 449. Darts 54 are provided for permitting the panel 42 to conform to the shape and size of the wearer.
Each of the elastic strap members 48 is provided with snap fastener elements 56 on the outer ends thereof and aligned pairs of snap fastener elements 58 disposed inwardly thereof, with the elongated strap member 48 having an extra pair of snap fastener elements 60 for a purpose described hereinafter.
An enlarged, rectangular diaper 62 is provided and is provided with spaced parallel fold lines: 64 so that the diaper 62 may be folded into triple thickness. A snap fasten-er element 66 is disposed adjacent each fold line 64, so that when the diaper s2 is folded into triple thickness, the snap fastener elements 65 will be disposed at the corners thereof for engagement with the snap fastener elements 58 on the elastic strap members 48. Thus, the triple thickness diaper 62 secured to the inner face of the body panel 42 will effectively absorb all liquid excrement of a small child. The darts 54- and the small elastic members Stl will conform the panty 40 to the child, thus preventing any possible leakage.
Referring now specifically to FIGURE 9, a modified form of the present invention is designated by the numeral 79, which includes a main body panel of hour-glass shape designated by the numeral 72 which may be of knit cloth and provided with a knit ribbing 74 on the side edges thereof and elastic strap members '76 adjacent each end edge thereof, with the elastic strap members '76 being identical to those designated by the numeral 48 in connection with FIGURE 6.
