技术领域
本发明致力于一种小截面的表面安装电连接器(SMEC),用于将引线连接到使用表面安装技术(SMT)构造的电气设备。该电气设备可以是印刷电路板(PCB),但不限于此。该PCB包含发光二极管(LEDs)。本发明特别适合于串联连接多个PCB。
背景技术
电气设备经常通过将该电气设备的端子焊接到PCB表面而被连接到印刷电路板(PCBs)。表面安装技术(SMT)是将电端子焊接到PCB的一种特有技术。SMT已被研发成以便以自动方式将电气设备固定在PCBs,但这些设备还可以被手动放置。SMT节约了成本,改进了可靠性并且在许多申请中减小了所述PCB的整个物理尺寸。SMT考虑到了将电气设备安装在PCB的两侧上,这对于使用通孔安装技术是不可能的。

发明内容
本解决方案是为用于将引线连接到印刷电路板(PCB)或其他合适的部件表面的小截面的表面安装电连接器(SMEC)准备的。当安装在支撑LEDs的PCB上时,连接器的小截面减小了连接器的遮挡。SMEC通过表面安装技术(SMT)即用于将电气和电子部件定位和连接到PCBs的标准自动化工艺被连接到所述PCB。所述连接可以是通过使用导电粘合剂的焊接或其他类似的方法。

参照图1,描述了表面安装电连接器(SMEC)10的实施例。SMEC10包括具有至少一个开口30和至少一个触头40的外壳20。外壳20是由特拉华州威尔明顿市的E.I.杜邦公司生产的高温液体晶体状聚酯Zenite形成的。外壳的热阻允许其在用来将连接器回流焊接到PCB表面的温度下而得到连接。
该外壳可以由例如Zenite的高温液体聚合物(LCP)或例如Stanyl 46的高温尼龙或任何其他已知的工业适用性非导电高温树脂形成。
SMEC10允许无需将导线引线焊接到PCB而将导线引线电连接到所述PCB。外壳20被设置成具有小的截面和小的面积,以使其不用遮蔽或阻挡LEDs的光发射就能放置在支撑发光LEDs的PCB上。

在本发明的另一实施例中,所述圆筒可以用在没有外壳20的PCB上。该另一实施例可以减小使用中的制造和材料成本,其中在所述使用中将圆筒与不希望的接触屏蔽开不是很重要。
在如图4和5所示的连接点的另一实施例中,圆筒20设置有另一连接点55。连接点55被表示成具有倾斜部分82以在连接到PCB的过程中辅助焊料回流。仍如图5所示,连接点55设置有基本水平的端部90和平的侧壁部分100。设置具有厚度为连接点55的总厚度的大约50%到70%的倾斜部分82改进了焊料的回流属性。倾斜部分82可以通过在模制操作中撞击连接点55的边缘得以形成,所述底面上的镀锡形成一定角度。倾斜部分82允许焊料更容易地弄湿成一定角度的锡面,产生不会另外形成的焊料圆角。
图6图示将SMEC 720用作系统以及用于将导线连接到PCB730的方法的应用。在该图中,SMEC 720被连接到PCB 730的表面。SMEC 720可以通过导电粘合剂或焊料被连接到PCB 730。PCB 730还支撑电阻器740和LEDs 750。导线引线760经由SMEC 720被连接到PCB 730。在该方法中,支撑LEDs的若干PCBs可以用导线串接以形成发光标记。

Claims (9)
