Acetylene gas generator with automatic gas release control. The present invention relates to an acetylene gas generator with automatic adjustment of the release of gas, comprising a container for the water placed above the to carbide container, with which it communicates by a hole in its bottom; in this generator is formed, below said communication hole, a chamber forming a seat for a valve which leaves a small passage for the water.
In the accompanying drawing, fig. 1 shows dry matically, to by way of example, in vertical section, an acetylene gas generator according to the invention; fig. 2, 3, 4 and 5 show, in axial section and to on a larger scale, four embodiments of the device for adjusting the pitch water wise; fig. 6, shows, to part, in vertical section, the seat for the valve in the devices shown in fig. 2 and 3; fig. 7 and 8 show, in axial section, two other embodiments of the device.
As visible in fig. 1, the generator is essentially constituted by a container 1 above which is mounted, at Using hinges 2 and pressure screws < B> 3, a water reservoir 4. Communication between the two receptacles is established at through a 5 hole in the bottom of the reservoir 4 and can be closed by a needle, a threaded portion of which is engaged with the collar 7 and which can be rotated with using a S. handle
Independently of the needle 6, which serves to completely close or to allow communication of the two receptacles, the passage of water from the reservoir 4 to the receptacle 1 is regulated by a device mounted below the hole 5 and essentially constituted by a cut 9 forming a small chamber below hole 5 and the front wall of which is crossed by a hole 10 where the stem 11 of a valve takes place 12, housed inside the chamber itself.
Between the hole 10 and the rod 11, there is a little clearance y and between the internal surface of the cup 9 </ B> and the face vis-à-vis the valve 12 is also provided a small clearance which can be achieved in different ways.
In the constructions shown in fig. 2 to 5, this clearance is established by a small channel 13 running radially over the lower surface of the valve 12. This clearance could also be established to </ B > using irregularities or inequalities of one of the two surfaces in contact, for example of the internal face of the section, as visible in fig. 6.
The valve 12 can take different shapes, as shown in Figs. 2 to 5, provided that it offers extensive contact with the face of the cup 9 constituting its seat.
The valve 12 can also be traversed by a channel of small diameter such as that 14 to in FIG. 7, or it may have a cup-shaped profile into the hollow of which penetrates the lower mouth of the duct 5 (fig. 8).
In any case, when the generator is in working order and the lower end of the needle 6 leaves the conduit 5 open, the water contained in the receptacle 4 fills the cavity of the cup 9 and, flowing to through the channel 13 or to through the inter stices between the valve 12 and the seat where the valve is applied by the weight of the water, it reaches the hole 10 and along the stem It drops drop to drop on the carbide contained in the container 1.
This operation is maintained until there is a low pressure inside the receptacle 1 corresponding to the operating conditions, that is to say when all the gas de- -ao # é is debited.
If, on the other hand, the pressure inside the interior of the container 1 rises above a value determined , for example by this causes that one of the nozzles supplied by the generator to has been closed, the passage of water through through the hole 10 is interrupted and therefore the gas evolution decreases until. the operating pressure being reestablished, the water can again descend in the form of small drops.
This stopping of the descent of the water, when the pressure inside the interior of the container 1 reaches a determined value, can be explained by the fact that in the channel < B> 13, on in the gaps between the surfaces vis-à-vis the valve and its seat, a thin layer of constantly renewed water is formed, , which is subjected both to the pressure of the water contained in the reservoir 4, and to the pressure of the gas contained in the receptacle 1. < / B> This layer of water,
while preventing leakage of gas with respect to which it acts as a hydraulic shut-off, flows downward as long as the charge of water in the tank 4 outweighs the pressure of the gas.
This operation also takes place in the case where the closure thus formed takes a form other than a liquid layer and constitutes, for example, a long cylinder of small diameter as shown to in FIG. 7, where the valve is crossed by an axial duct 14 which always remains full of water.
To increase the action of the weight of the water on the valve 12, the body of the latter can have the faith-me of a cut like my tré à in fig. 8.
Whatever construction is adopted, a very sensitive automatic closure is obtained which allows the water to descend until in the container 1 a determined pressure prevails and which completely prevents the descent of the water. water when the pressure in the 1 container exceeds the determined value.
When the pressure in the container 1 reaches an excessive value, it outweighs the weight of the water and causes the lifting of the valve 12, allowing there an abundant gas leak, which avoids any danger of explosion of the generator.
