Automatic belt rewinder. The object of the invention is an automatic belt winder.
It is known that such devices comprising a fixed support, carrying an axis, on which are articulated one or two straight or C-shaped arms, at the end of which is mounted the winding roller.
To exert sufficient pressure on the belt to be wound up, this device is often supplemented by the addition of a counterweight, which is made integral with one or the other of the ends of the oscillating arm, depending on the position, by vertical ratio, belts to be tightened.
According to the invention, the counterweight lever of the reel can be fixed at will to one or the other end of the arm of the reel, at any angle.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, several embodiments of the object of the invention: FIG. 1, a reel with type of counterweight attached to the non-swivel end of the roller support arm; Fig. 2, a side view of the reel of FIG. 1; Fig. 3, an elevational view of a variant of the reel FIG. 1 applicable in the case where the belt occupies a position close to the vertical; in this case, the counterweight lever is fixed to the pivoting end of the roller arm; Fig. 4, a detail view showing a way of fixing the counterweight lever on the axis and the end of the roller arm; Fig. 5 and 6, two other ways of connecting the roller arm and counterweight lever at variable angles.
The reel of fig. 1 comprises the appropriate arrangement of the following parts: A vertical support A fixed on slides; at the upper end of A an axis B on which is articulated a roller-carrying arm C in the shape of a semi-circle; at the end of C, an axis F on which is mounted the support roller G which exerts its pressure on the belt T wound around the pulley I. To exert sufficient pressure on the belt T we add end of the arm C a lever E carrying a counterweight D. Each of the rods E, provided on each side of the support, is removably mounted on the shaft F and is held there hand held by the nuts which are placed at each end of the tree.
The end plate which terminates the lever comprises a certain number of housings such as 2 in which a lug or a screw can be inserted at will, the end of which can be suitably engaged in the recess 3 presented by the end. of the arm C.
It will be understood that, by using different housings such as 2, it is possible to vary the value of the angle a indicated in FIG. 1.
We realize that the possibility of making the rod E take different positions relative to the arm C makes it possible to adapt the reel to all the relative positions occupied by the motor and driven shafts. In addition, for the same position of these shafts, such a method of fixing makes it possible to vary at will the pressure exerted by the oscillating part of the support and consequently to properly adjust the tension of the transmission belt.
In the method of assembling the arms and levers shown in FIG. 5, instead of a series of holes, as shown in fig. 1, 3 and 4, the ends of the arms or the levers comprise in one of the two parts to be assembled an elongated circular hole 5 and a bolt or a screw 6 in the other part.
In fig. 6, the counterweight lever has a slotted hub with a clamping bolt allowing the lever to be fixed at any angle to the line that connects the roller axis to the oscillation axis, on a of these two axes, remaining of course that in the case where the counterweight lever is fixed on the axis of oscillation of the reel, the arms of the latter are fixed by the same means, or by keying, or in another way on the same axis.
In FIG. 3, there is shown, by way of example, a reel of a type different from that of FIG. 1. In this variant, the end plate 4 of the rod E is mounted at the end of the axis B carried by the upper part of the support A. Each support C pivots around the same shaft B and is adjacent to each of the end plates 4. The branches C carry at their upper end the roller G which rests on the belt T winding on the driving pulley I The plate 4 ending E carries, like the preceding one, holes 2 in which a screw is screwed. threaded lug, the end of which engages properly in a housing provided on the end of the adjacent arm C.
Depending on the housing 2 concerned, the relative inclination of the arm E can be varied at will with respect to the inclined support C.
In reels of the kind represented by FIG. 1, it happens, after a certain running time, that it is useful to partially unload the roller in order to reduce the pressure on the belt, either because the force to be transmitted has been reduced, or because the belt is softened.
We realize that the device shown then makes it possible to remove the counterweight with its lever from the end of the arm C and place it towards the axis B at the other end of the arm.
It is understood that the invention is applicable both to winders with one arm and to winders with two arms.
