<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

DESCRIPTIVE MEMORY filed in support of an application for a PATENT OF INVENTION ELECTRIC MULTIPLIER FOR AGRICULTURAL USE.
The present invention relates to an electric reduction gear agency for mechanically actuating, in a practical and economical manner, the various machines used for farm work.
This gear reducer essentially comprises: a starter motor providing both directions of rotation at will, a range of three speeds suitable for the rational drive of all types of apparatus. an automatic belt tensioner, a clutch allowing the devices to be decoupled without stopping the engine, a double cardan transmission working at various angles and in any position.
In the accompanying drawing is shown, by way of non-limiting example, a practical embodiment of the invention.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Fig. 1 is a view on quotation of the multiplier.
Fig. 2 is a side view.
The apparatus is constituted by a frame 1 of form. rectangular obtained by an assembly of angle irons or by foundry. At the lower part of the frame 1, two crossbars 2 on, - carry, by means of a sole 3, a low-power starter motor 4, half or a third of a horse, which can preferably be connected to the light current.
The two crosspieces 2 oscillate around an axis 2 'fixed in one of the uprights of the frame 1 and their position is adjusted by a bolt 3' compressing a spring 4 'using a knurled nut 5'. The inclination given to the. sole 3 allows to adjust at will the tension of a trapezoidal belt 6, which is controlled by a pulley 5 of the motor 4. The belt 6 drives a large pulley 7, the shaft 8 of which is supported by two fixed bearings 9 on two sleepers 10. The shaft 8 is provided with. the end opposite to the pulley 7, a launching lug 11 and it is integral in "its middle part of three small slender pulleys 12, 13, 14.
Each of these can be coupled by a trapezoidal belt 15 with one of the spread pulleys 16, 17, 18, keyed on a shaft 19. This is mounted in two bearings 20, supported by cross members 21, articulated by a. xe 22 on one of the monta @ ts of the frame 1. A clamp 23, butterfly clamping screw 24 makes it possible to immobilize the crossbars 21 on the other upright of the frame at will. A return spring 25 automatically adjusts the tension of the belt 15.
The shaft 19 is coupled by a cardan sleeve 26 with a transmission shaft 27, which carries at its other end a cardan sleeve 28. The latter is arranged so as to be able to be fixed on shafts of different diameters, 10 to 30 Millimeters for example. For this it can receive tubes of different sizes nested one inside the other and used at will according to the needs. Their fixation
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
is a.ssured by a screw 30 which passes through them all and tightens on the shaft to be driven.
In front of the pulley 5 of the motor 4 is also arranged another pulley 29, which can be used to control any machine by flat belt.
By means of the cardan sleeve 28, the intermediate tubes and the clamping screw 30, the reduction gear can drive, at various angles and in all positions, agricultural machinery, such as: churn, skimmer, crusher , grass chopper, root cutter, grindstone, belt hay lifter, pump, circular saw, etc.:
The tension of the drive belt 15, automatically resiliently provided by the spring 25, normally drives the machines coupled to the sleeve 28 of the transmission shaft 27.
In the event of one of the controlled mechanisms jammed, any risk of parts breaking is avoided by the slipping of the belt 15:
The change of devices is normally carried out on the move by activating the clutch. It suffices for this to lower the cross member 21 and fix it, by the clamp 23 on the upright of the frame, at a position determining the slack of the belt 15.
The apparatus comprises a current switch, regulating the supply of the motor 4, the launching of which is obtained by a crank engaged on the lug 11 of the shaft 8.
The device has a small footprint and reduced weight, its frame mounted on casters allows it to be easily. transport in the vicinity of the machines, the rational speed of which is obtained using one of the three sets of pulleys, 12,16, 13, 17 and 14, 18.
Simple to manufacture and inexpensive, while being flawless in operation, the @ gearbox is called upon to render the greatest services in all agricultural operations.
