La fig. 1 est une vue extérieure du brû leur, dans la position de combustion en veil leuse; La fig. 2 est une coupe verticale par l'axe de la fig. 1; La fig. 3 est une vue semblable à la fig. 1, mais montrant le brûleur dans la posi tion de débit maximum: La fig. 4 est une coupe verticale par l'axe de la ftg. 3: La fig. est une coupe horizontale par 1-I de la fil. 1; La fig. 6 est une coupe horizontale par 11-II de lafi-. 3;
Burner for various gases. The known system gas burners are established in such a way that the distance between the object to be heated and the burner is always constant, whatever the length of the flame, or what amounts to the same, whatever the flow rate. of fuel.
This results in serious drawbacks - with the minimum flow (or combustion in a dormant), a layer of air is interposed between the top of the flame and the object to be heated; a significant part of the calories supplied by the flame is used for heating; useless, this layer of air which is constantly renewed; with the maximum flow rate, the .flame generally overflows all around the object to be heated: however, the objects to be heated must not be introduced into the flame, because. they cause the extinction of part of the gas by ignition, at the same time as they prevent good combustion:
there is therefore loss of fuel and, by the effect of incomplete combustion, production of carbon monoxide which vitiates the air when there are no pipes for evacuating the products of the combustion. -Experience has established that the efficiency of a gas burner is maximum, whatever the size of the flame, for a certain optimum distance from the burner to the object to be heated. In other words, the top of the flame must, in all cases, be at the same distance from the object to be heated.
The present invention relates to a burner for various gases, characterized by the fact that its head is movable and that it can be brought closer or further from the object to be heated, depending on whether one decreases or increases the burner flow rate, so that the distance between the top of the flame and the object to be heated is constantly the same.
In the accompanying drawing, there is shown, by way of example, an embodiment of the burner.
Fig. 1 is an exterior view of the burner, in the pilot combustion position; Fig. 2 is a vertical section through the axis of FIG. 1; Fig. 3 is a view similar to FIG. 1, but showing the burner in the maximum flow position: Fig. 4 is a vertical section through the axis of the ftg. 3: Fig. is a horizontal section through 1-I of the wire. 1; Fig. 6 is a horizontal section through 11-II of fi-. 3;
Fig. 7. finally, is a perspective view of the upper part of the gas metering shutter with its air adjustment flap.
As can be seen in this drawing, the body of the burner comprises a cylindrical part 1, in which the gas metering device is housed, a constricted part 2 and a cap 3 pierced with holes for the passage of the combustible mixture.
In the cylindrical part 1 are formed: a window 4 for the admission of air into the burner; a helical slot 5 and a straight slot 6 parallel to the generators of the cylinder.
The gas metering device comprises a male part 7 and a female part 8. The part 7 is screwed by a lower end exit onto the gas inlet connector; the female part is screwed onto its upper end, which can thus go up or down along the fixed part 7 (fig. 2 and 4).
v Part 7 is drilled along the axis of a channel 9 through which the gas arrives; the upper end of this part forms a conical or frustoconical head on the surface of which small conduits 10 open, communicating with the channel 9 and through which the gas escapes. The bottom of the housing provided in the part 8 to receive the part 7 has a frustoconical shape and constitutes a seat for the correspondingly shaped head of said part. 7. In the center of the seat is drilled (in orifice 11 providing passage to gas.
The part -8 is extended, at its upper part, by a half-cylindrical flap 12 (fig. 7) serving to more or less close the air intake window 4.
-A control handle 13 is fixed in the part 8, this handle passing through the helical slot 5. Finally, a lug 14 fixed to the part 7 engages in the slot fi.
The operation of the device is as follows: When the lever 13 is in the position of fig. 1 and 2, that is to say at the lower end of the helical slot 5. the head 3 of the burner is located as close as possible to the object to be heated (which is sup posed, in fig. 1 and 3, be located at C) in this position of the lever .13, the part 8 is fully screwed on the part 7 and the frustoconical top of the latter presses against the seat provided in the part 8.
The nozzle can be adjusted to give, in this position, either the combustion in the back burner (a very narrow passage then being made between the top of part 7 and the seat of part 8) or the complete obstruction of the wise passage of the- gas. On the other hand, for this position of the lever 13, the flap 12 almost completely closes the air inlet window 4.
If the handle 13 is turned, the following effects are simultaneously obtained 1 By moving said handle in the helical slot 5, the body of the burner descends to them and the head 3 moves away, consequently, from the body to heat C.
2 The part 7 being fixed, the part 8, to which the handle 13 is fixed, unscrews and rises inside the body of the burner, which has the effect of gradually increasing the gas passage section between the top of part 7 and the bottom of the housing of part -8; the gas flow is thus increased.
3 The shutter 12, which turns with the part 8, unmasks an increasing section of the window 4, the quantity of air admitted into the burner is therefore increased at the same time as the gas flow rate. Thanks to the lug 14 and its guide in the window 6 of the body of the burner, the latter rises or falls without turning when the lever 13 is acted on.
When the handle reaches the upper end of the helical slot 5, the burner components are in the position of fig. 3 and 4 for which the maximum flow rate of combustible mixture is obtained at the same time as the maximum distance from the head 3 to the body to be heated; for all the intermediate positions of the lever, we obviously obtain more or less large flow rates with a distance from the body to be heated to the burner giving the best efficiency, as has been said above.
It will be noted that the movements of the part 1 are undoubtedly obtained when the lever 13 is acted on, whatever the inclination of the device, which is not the case when the descent of the body of the burner occurs under the action of the sole weight of this organ.
