Es ist besonders vorteilhaft, die so erhaltenen neuen Farbstoffe vor ihrer Verwendung in bekannter Weise in Farbstoffpräparate überzuführen. Dazu werden sie zer- kleinert, bis :die Teilchengrösse im Mittel etwa 0;
meist keinen weiteren Vorteil.

Process for the preparation of sparingly water-soluble azo dyes The invention relates to a process for the manufacture of new, sparingly water-soluble azo dyes of the formula
EMI0001.0005
where R2 is hydrogen, chlorine or bromine, R, an optionally substituted low molecular weight e.n ADkyl radical, R4 and R5 hydrogen radicals,
X is an alkyl group and Y is -C00-. Or -S02-.
The hydrocarbon radicals R4 and R5 are preferably the same or different,
Not further substituted alkyl radicals with 1 to 4 carbon atoms. They can be saturated or unsaturated and branched or unbranched and together with -N form a ring which may contain further heteroatoms.
This process is characterized in that a diazotized amine of the formula
EMI0001.0043
with a compound of the formula
EMI0001.0045
clutch. In general, the coupling is carried out in an acidic, if necessary buffered, medium with cooling, for example at temperatures between 0 and 5 C.
It is particularly advantageous to convert the new dyes obtained in this way into dye preparations in a known manner before they are used. To do this, they are crushed until: the average particle size is about 0;
01 to 10 microns, and more particularly about 0.1 to 5 microns. The comminution can take place in the presence of dispersants or fillers.
For example, the dried dye is ground with a dispersant, optionally in the presence of fillers, or kneaded in paste form with a dispersant and then dried in vacuo or by atomization.
With the preparations obtained in this way, after adding more or less water, one can dye or pad, foulard or print in a so-called long liquor.
When dyeing in a long liquor one generally applies up to about 20 g of dye per liter, when padding up to about 150 g per liter, preferably 0.1 to 1.00 g per liter, and when printing up to about 150 g per kilogram of printing paste. The liquor ratio can be chosen within wide limits, e.g. B. between. about 1: 3 and 1: 200, preferably between 1: 3 and 1:80.
The dyes are drawn from an aqueous suspension onto moldings made from fully synthetic or semi-synthetic high-molecular substances.
They are particularly suitable for dyeing, padding or printing fibers, threads or fleeces, woven or knitted fabrics made from linear, aromatic polyesters and also made from cellulose acetate, or cellulose triacetate . Also synthetic polyamides,
Polyolefins, acrylonitrile polymerisation @sprodükte and polyvinyl compounds cups are colored with them. Particularly valuable dyeings are obtained on linear, aromatic polyesters. These are generally polycondensation products from terephthalic acid and glycols, especially ethylene glycol, and z.
B. under the protected names Terylen, Dielen, Dacron in the trade.
It is dyed according to methods known per se. Polyester fibers can be dyed in the presence of carriers at temperatures between about 80 and 125 C or in the absence of carriers under pressure at about 100 to 140 C by the exhaust process.
Furthermore: you can pad them with the aqueous dispersions of the new dyes, foulamdieren or be printing and fix the impregnation obtained at about 140 to 230 C, eg.
B. with the help of water vapor or air. In the particularly favorable temperature range between 180 and 220 C, the dyes quickly diffuse into the polyester fiber and do not sublime again,
even if you let these high temperatures act for a long time. This avoids annoying soiling of the dyeing equipment. Ce11ulose-21 / e-acetate is preferably dyed between about 65 and 80 C and cellulose triacetate at temperatures up to about 115 C.
The most favorable pH range is between 2 and 9 and especially between 4 and B. Usually, the usual dispersants are added, which are preferably anionic or nonionic and can also be used as a mixture with one another.
About 0.5 g of dispersant per liter of dye preparation is often sufficient, but it can also be used. larger quantities, e.g. B. up to about 3 g per liter can be used. Quantities in excess of 5 g result in:
usually no further advantage. Known anionic dispersants which come into consideration for the process ir1 are, for example, condensation products of naphthadinsulfonic acids and formaldehyde, in particular dinaphthylme @ handisulfonate, esters of sulfonated succinic acid,
Turkish rotäl and alkali salts of, sulfuric acid esters of fatty alcohols, e.g. B. NatriumiPauryl'sulfat or Natriumeety1- sulfate, Sulphiteeüuloseablauge or their alkali, soaps or Al'kalisulfate of Mono @ glycerides of fatty acids.
Examples of known and particularly suitable nonionic dispersants are angered products of about 3-40 mol of ethylene oxide with alkylphenols, fatty alcohols or fatty amines and their neutral sulfuric acid esters.
When padding and printing you will use the usual thickeners, such. B. modified or unmodified natural products, for example alginates, British bwmmi, gum arabic, crystal gum, locust bean gum, tragacanth, carboxymethyl cellulene,
Hydroxyethyl cellulose, starch or synthetic products, for example polyacrylamides or polyvinyl alcohols.
The colorations obtained are extremely genuine, e.g. B. excellent thermofixi: he, sublime, pleated, smoke gas, over-dyeing, dry: ncleaning, chlorine and wet fast, z. B-. water, wash and perspiration resistant. The etchability and reserve of wool and tree welfare are good.
The lightfastness is excellent, even in light tones, so that the new dyes are also very suitable as mixing components for the production of pastel-colored fashion tones. The dyes are resistant to overcooking and reduction at temperatures up to at least 220 C and especially at 80 to 140.
This resistance is not negatively influenced either by the liquor ratio or by the presence of dye accelerators.
In the following examples, parts are to be understood as parts by weight. The temperatures are given in degrees Celsius. <I> Example 1 </I> 6.9 parts of powdered sodium nitrite are slowly added to 120 parts of concentrated sulfuric acid at 60-70 with vigorous stirring.
The mixture is stirred for a further 10 minutes at 60, then kü'hl't to 10 and added at 15-25 100 parts of glacial acetic acid and then 21.6 parts of 1-amino-2-ne-thylsulfonyl 4-nitrobenzene; and 100 parts of glacial acetic acid.
The mixture is stirred for 2 hours at 10 and ver sets with 8 parts of urea. The resulting diazonium salt solution is poured into a mixture of 23.6 parts of 3-diethykmino-1-carbäthoxyaminiobenzod, 20 parts of concentrated hydrochloric acid and 150 parts of ice. The coupling reaction will:
completed in buffered medium. The precipitated dye is filtered off, washed and dried. After recrystallizing once from Chforbenzdl, it melts at 185. The dye dyes synthetic fibers in brilliant violet shades with very good fastness properties.
<I> Example 2 </I> 6.9 parts of powdered sodium nitrite are added to 150 parts of concentrated sulfuric acid at 60-70 with vigorous stirring.
After 1.0 minutes, add 25RTI ID = "0002.0236" WI = "8" HE = "4" LX = "1362" LY = "1345"> parts of 1-amino-2-methylsulfonyl-4-nitro-6-chlorobenzene to. The mixture is stirred for 1 hour at 60 and then cooled: to 0 <B> from </B>.
The diazonium salt solution obtained is poured onto a mixture of 23.6 parts of 3-diethyl'amino-1-carbäthoxyaminabenzene, 10.0 parts of glacial acetic acid and 100 parts of ice.
The coupling reaction is completed at 0 in an acidic, optionally buffered, medium. The dye obtained is filtered off, washed acid-free with water and dried. The pure dye melts at <B> 181 '</B> and dyes synthetic fibers in purple tones.
<I> Example 3 </I> 6.9 parts of sodium nitrite are slowly added to 150 parts of concentrated sulfuric acid at 60-70 with thorough stirring. Mani boasts another 10 minutes at 60 and then cools down to 10. 21.6 parts of powdered 1-amino-2-methylsulfonyl-4-nitrobenzene are then added.
The mixture is stirred for 2 hours at 10 and the resulting diazonium salt solution is poured onto 700 parts of ice and 8 parts of aminosulfonic acid. A solution of 24 is poured onto this,
2 parts of 3-diethylamino-1-methylsulfonys'aminobenzol in 100 parts of glacial acetic acid to the ice-cold diazonium salt solution and blunt with sodium acetate.
The coupling is instantly complete and the precipitated dye is filtered off, washed and dried. The crude dye can be recrystallized from dioxane. The pure dye melts at <B> 223 '</B> and dyes synthetic fibers in purple shades with good fastness properties.
In a corresponding manner z. B. obtained the following dyes:
