The present invention relates to a centering bit with removable and adjustable center.
A major drawback of cone centering bits stems from the fact that the pivot, coming from manufacture with the leading cone and the body of the bit, deteriorates rapidly, which soon renders the whole of the latter unusable while the attack cone is still in good condition. Taking into account the relatively high price of such wicks generally produced in special steels, this makes little. economical use of these bits.
The present invention aims specifically to improve the design thereof so as to provide for their rational use. The drill bit to be centered according to the present invention comprises a cylindrical body terminated by a leading cone and is characterized in that said cylindrical body has a coaxial housing in which a cylindrical tool is housed, the end of which protrudes from that of the cone d 'attack, of an adjustable length, said cylindrical tool being held integral with said cylindrical body by locking means.
The accompanying drawing shows by way of example a particular embodiment of the object of the present invention, FIG. 1 is a front view of the body of the bit, FIG. 2 shows the cylindrical pivot intended to be assembled with the body of the bit, FIG. 3 is an overview of the assembled drill bit.
Referring first to FIG. 1, the body of the bit (1) is terminated by the attack cone (2) having at least one cutting edge (3) preceded by a recess (4) intended for the evacuation of the metal chips.
The body of the bit has a cylindrical coaxial recess (5) intended for the introduction of said cylindrical tool (6) shown in FIG. 2. In this particular embodiment, said cylindrical tool is a .drill (6).
Appropriate clamping means, such as two screws arranged radially (7 and 7 ') make it possible to ensure the axial positioning of the drill (6) relative to the body (1) of the bit.
Said drill, thus assembled to the body of the bit, the assembly is in the form shown in fi-. 3.
The bit described ensures, due to the significant distance separating the end of the pivot from the point of attachment of the cylindrical tool to the body (1) of the bit, to said cylindrical tool a high torsional elasticity, which allows to give the pivot a certain independence from the body of the bit, allowing it to withstand certain jolts without breaking.
