Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

   Revendications.

     1.- Vis perfectionné, à tête plate ou arrondie, caractérisée en ce que cette tête présente au lieu des fentes usuelles, au moins une nervure transversale saillante, continue ou discontinue, sur laquelle peut agir un tournevis offrant.deux points d'appui engageant les faces opposées de la nervure.

   <Desc / Clms Page number 1>

   Conventional screws, with a flat or rounded head, generally have a slot machined transversely in the end face. of the head, either over the entire or partial diameter of this head and the screwdriver has a spatula which engages in this slot to introduce the screw into the appropriate thread. The placement of these screws is often thwarted by the fact that the screwdriver escapes easily from the slot and that the screw being placed in the entry of the tapping, it is difficult to place the screwdriver in the head. 'of screws, especially when lubricant is present on the screw or on the screwdriver.

   On the other hand, the tips of screwdrivers are often exposed to excessive stresses which lead to deterioration of the screw slot and of the screwdriver itself.

   The present invention overcomes these defects and 'consists of a screw the head of which offers at least one transverse rib, continuous or interrupted, protruding, the screwdriver comprising a head the end of which is provided with means for engaging either side. and the other on the rib of the screw head, in order to impart the desired rotary movement to the screw.

   In practical embodiments, the end face

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 of the screwdriver head has a slot or slots which engage with the rib or ribs of the screw head, the latter possibly having a plurality of ribs extending from the center, and the screwdriver head will be of polygonal cross section , so that the turning movement can be imparted to the handle using a key, while holding the handle of the screwdriver.

   The invention will be described below by way of example with reference to. attached drawing ..

   Figure 1 shows a screw according to the invention with a rounded head.

   Figure 2 shows the screwdriver with a partial cut through the head.

   Figure 3 shows in plan another form of screw head and Figure 4 is a section on 4-4 of Figure 3.

   The screw body 1 of FIG. 1 comprises a rounded head 2, the upper face of which has the cross-shaped ribs 3 projecting 'over two full diameters.

   The screwdriver of FIG. 2 is formed of the handle 4, of the handle 7 and of an operating head 5, the end face of which has a hollow matching the rounding of the screw head 2 and in this hollow grooves 6 arranged in a cross. and sized to take on. ' ribs of the screw. As said above, the head 5 of the screwdriver is.preference.polygonal in cross section, which allows the use of a key to turn the screwdriver, while holding the handle 7. This screwdriver head can be magnetized, which allows the adhesion of the screw on the screwdriver and therefore easy placement of the screw.

   In a simplified form, the screwdriver will have a simple U-shaped yoke attached to the end of the handle, with the arms facing outward.

   In Figures 3 and 4 there is illustrated a flat screw head 1 which has three equidistant radial ribs 8.

   The screws according to the invention with the appropriate screwdrivers present serious advantages over conventional screws.

   The machining does not involve removal of material, the manufacture is easy and the resistance of the screw is greater.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

The ribs of the screw heads may have a decorative character and these ribs will be less easily damaged, and in the presence of excessive forces produced by the screwdriver, the slots in the latter will also be less exposed to deformation. The head of the screwdriver could be removable and interchangeable, so that screws of various sizes and of different destinations could be placed with a single handle with handle forming a suitable interchangeable head screwdriver.

   Claims.

     1.- Improved screw, with a flat or rounded head, characterized in that this head has instead of the usual slots, at least one projecting transverse rib, continuous or discontinuous, on which can act a screwdriver offering two engaging support points opposite sides of the rib.
