Strut for putting the springs of watches or similar instruments into a barrel The present invention relates to a strut for putting the springs of watches or similar instruments into a barrel.
This step for putting the springs of watches or similar instruments into a barrel is characterized, on the one hand, in that it is arranged so that the distance between the hook of the crank shaft to which it is anchored the inner end of the spring and the bearing plate against which the wound turns of the spring come to rest, is adjustable and, on the other hand, in that the piston fitted in the receiving cleat of the wound spring comprises at least three radial protuberances extending through the bark of said cleat by corresponding passages formed therein.
An embodiment of the object of the invention is shown by way of example in the drawing.
Fig. 1 shows the crank and its shaft.
Fig. 2 is a section and a plan of the receiving cleat of the wound spring.
Fig. 3 shows in section and in plan the cleat of a variant of which FIG. 4 shows part of the bark. Fig. 5 shows the bark of the cleat of a second variant of this execution.
We see in fig. 1 a shaft 1 whose end, on which the crank 2 and the support plate 3 are fitted, is threaded at 4. The crank 2 and the support plate 3 are threaded and are screwed onto part 4 and function as a nut and lock nut. It is thus possible to move the support plate 3 away from the hook 5 or bring it closer and fix its position by strongly screwing the arm of the crank 2 and the support plate 3 against each other. The springs to be put in the barrel being anchored by an eyelet made halfway up in the inner coil of these springs, it will thus be possible to adjust the distance A for the. match this half height of the spring.
It is thus possible to use the same crank and the same axis for springs of different heights.
The strut further comprises a cleat 6 receiving the wound spring and in which is fitted a piston 7 comprising at least three radial protuberances extending through the bark of said cleat by corresponding passages which are formed therein. We see in fig. 2 the cleat 6 in the center of which the piston 7 is fitted.
At the end of the latter is fixed a plate 8 comprising three protrusions.

Radial bérances 9 which extend through passages 10 of the bark 11, integral with the body of the cleat 6 and inside which the spring to be placed in the barrel is wound. In the estrapades known to date, the plate 8 of the piston 7 is cylindrical and freely adjusted inside the bark 11 which has the shape of a notched circular crown.
The construction shown has two main advantages over that of the usual struts - the same piston 7 can be used on cleats the bark of which is provided at different diameters; the protuberances 9 extending through the bark II through the passages 10, the turns of the wound spring are kept in the same plane, even if they are applied very strongly to the inner walls of the bark 11.
With the usual struts, a wear of the plate 8 or a few hundredths debate thereof with the internal diameter of the bark 11, allow the outer turn of the wound spring to engage between the bark 11 and this plate 8 , thus blocking the tool and bending.
It is possible to make the bark 11 and the passages 10 provided therein in several ways. On the fi-. 2, this bark 11 comes out of a piece with the body of the cleat 6, which is generally made of brass. On 1? fig. 3, four strips 12 of steel are provided, one of which is shown in FIG. 4 and which are arranged equidistant from one another on the periphery of the cleat 6. They leave between them spaces 10 which are precisely the passages 10 mentioned for the protuberances 9.
These strips 12 are fixed to the cleat 6 by crimping, welding or else, as shown in FIG. 3, by means of a ring 13 forced out on the cleat 6, outside the strips 12. Another means of producing this bark 11 and its passages 10 is shown in FIG. 5. Here we have a circular crown 14 milled over part of its height to form the passages 10 necessary for the protuberances 9 of the piston plate. This bark can be driven out directly on the cleat 6, or maintained in a manner similar to those mentioned for Inmelles 12.
