Or, il est désirable que la compression du manchon soit réglable, car -le manchon et, en général, toutes les garnitures d'étanchéité en matière plastique, se rétrécissent rapidement, par l'usure et le vie1_lliss ;
ement.
Dans l'évidement annulaire,du corps de cou ronne 6 est ,logé un manchon d'étanchéité 7 en matière éla.stiquement compressible et im- pe,rméable à l'eau et à l'humidité, par exem ple en caoutchouc. Ce manchon possède urne collerette 8, à. l'aide de laquelle il est ajusté dans une noyuire 9 ménagée ,dans le fond de l'évidtement du corps de couronne 6;
D'autre part, urne plaque ronde 12 per forée recouvre partiellement l'évidèment du corps de couronne 6 et porte sur l'extrémité du manchon 7 pour servir d'appui à ce der nier. Cette plaque est sertile .dans le corps de couronne et peut tourner à frottement gras dans son ajustement;
Watertight watch winder. The subject of the invention is a watertight winder for a timepiece, more particularly but not. exclusively, when remounting a wristwatch pendant, of the type comprising a hollowed-out winding crown, fitted on a tube, of the case of:
the timepiece and assembled with the re-mount rod, a resiliently compressible sealing sleeve, for example in caout chouc or other elastic and waterproof material, being inserted and kept compressed in the obviously @of the crown.
Sealing devices of this kind are not new in principle. There are many devices which have the main purpose of maintaining more or less compressed the sleeve, to ensure the tightness of the joint, adjustment separating this sleeve and said tube from one another.
However, it is desirable that the compression of the sleeve be adjustable, because -the sleeve and, in general, all the plastic gaskets, shrink rapidly, by wear and life1_lliss;
definitely. In direct-acting winders, it is possible to use the pull-tab spring which, however, is hardly adjustable. The best result is generally obtained by means of a special spring integrated into the device.
The winder according to the invention comprises a .ligature formed by a coil spring disposed in the recess of the crown (body @de crown) and whose turns are wound around said sealing sleeve, on a paetie -de la length of it,
to keep it tight around the tube of the case with an adjustable force, the ends of the wire, of this spring being held, luné, by a fixed member relative to the, crown, and the other, by a relatively movable member at the crown,
so that one can angularly offset these members with respect to one another to modify the angle of winding, lem: ent, of the spring and, therefore, the clamping effect that the latter exerts on said sleeve.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention. Fig. 1 shows, in axial section, the crown & winder fitted to the tube of the case, while FIG. 2 is a section taken along line II-II -de FIG. 1.
In the middle part 3 of the case is fixed the tube 4 providing passage for the winding stem 5, on the end of which is screwed, by its sleeve 6 ', the hollowed out crown body 6.
In the annular recess, of the neck body 6 is housed a sealing sleeve 7 made of elastically compressible and impermeable material, rmearable to water and humidity, for example rubber. This sleeve has urn collar 8, to. with the aid of which it is fitted in a core 9 made in the bottom of the recess of the crown body 6;
it is held there by means of a fixing ring 10 force-fitted in said core and por tant on the collar 8.
On the other hand, a perforated round plate 12 partially covers the recess of the crown body 6 and bears on the end of the sleeve 7 to serve as a support for the latter. This plate is crimped in the crown body and can turn with greasy friction in its adjustment;
it has two blind holes 13 making it possible to rotate the. plate to. using a wrench or other tool.
In the recess of the crown body is housed, between the ring 1.0 and the plate 1 \ ?, a coil spring. 14, the turns of which are wound around the sleeve 7, over part of the length of the latter. The ends of the wire, of this spring are curved and.. Rest each tooth against a piton 15,
16, respectively, one of which is fixed to the ring 10, and the other to the movable plate 12. Said ends of the spring could be attached to the respective eyebolts.
When the winding crown is fitted on the tube 4, the sleeve 7. is tightened around the cylindrical head of this tube, under the action of the ligature formed by the spring 14 which has an initial tension and radially encloses the sleeve .
The latter has an initial compression, by the fact that its normal bore is smaller than the outside diameter of the tube 4, so that the sleeve is compressed when the crown is fitted on the tube.
The adjustment seal is thus rendered perfectly waterproof, whatever the axial position (winding or setting the time) which the crown occupies.
The tension of the sleeve 7 and. therefore, the adjusting force of the crown is adjustable by means of the spring 14, the angle of which can be changed with the aid of the. rotating plate 12. In fact, if this plate is rotated, the pin 16 is offset with respect to the fixed pin 15.
Depending on whether the plate is rotated in one or the other direction of rotation, the winding angle of the spring 14 increases or decreases, as does the number of turns and the total diameter of the spring. The latter therefore either undergoes a contraction, knows an extension, so that it more or less strongly encloses the sealing sleeve 7.
By proceeding in this way, the adjustment tension of the sleeve 7 and, at the same time, the bare winding friction, can be adjusted at will, so that its operation is neither too hard nor too free.
The .remontoir described, relatively simple, is very practical, in particular for the rha .bil- .leur which is to, .even easily adjust the sealing device itself or to eni replace a worn sleeve.
It suffices to detach the first. crown with the winding stem, so that the movable adjustment plate 12 is accessible. This plate, instead of being assembled with the crown body by crimping, could be adjusted thereto by other means, preferably removably.
